I admire people who can come up with ideas like this and actually make it work. I also admire his ability to concentrate on his commentary with so many people hovering around. Some of whom I suspect were deliberately being a pain in the arse. Well done Geoff. Regards from Australia.
I love the way this started so purist and towards the end a complex mixture of parts through great thinking and resourcefulness. Your voice must have had quite a beating that day, respect for presenting amongst all those eager bodies. Thank you.
Watching this amazing project emerge over several years it's great to hear Geoff describe the problems he faced, and the solutions he came up with to bring it to completion.
Very Nice, my first bike was a "Panther 650" I found it in a billion pieces on the tip, I built it up on my own with just a hand full of tools & no manual, I sold it for really good money to one of my teachers, he thought it was an odd bike for a 12 year old. I have never stopped building since that one, I just got the bug, I currently have a shed & 1/4 of a garden full of next projects.
^^ Does anyone ever get the feeling that some people might just make stuff up? Panther 650 found on the tip in bits... Found and rebuilt by a 12 year old kid... Who now has a UA-cam channel... with no content... But he's never stopped building... He's got the bug guys
@@theboyisso6960 "I found it in a billion pieces on the tip" It would have been scrap metal not on the tip. If it were in a billion peices how woudl he find it all? And 12 years old with no manual and just the general style of writing, more like an author than a person recounting a real experience. I see loads and loads of it on UA-cam comments. People's inclination seems to be to trust what they read in the comments! Quite funny really. Sometimes I can outright tell people are making shit up but I decided to dial back the skepticism on this one and ask for input! Thanks for replying and thanks for letting me know you kind of skeptical but not 100% sure it's BS. I think now I've reflected I'm 100% sure this person is waffling. God knows why they do it though!
Amazing just amazing, the true spirit of a CAFE racer I love the bit about the saucepan you can tell it’s a motorcycle meet as there are people walking about with a stick🇬🇧🇬🇧
Fantastic beast ! - I always admire special builders for their ingenuity and vision.. It would have been great to hear it running towards the end of this video !
A proper bitsa bike , well done for coming up with all those solutions brilliant work , now then , does it run ? lets hear it going please in a future episode 😉😁
Well done Geoff - I remember an article in one of the motorcycling magazines in the 70's in which the author suggested that the Panther engine was massively over engineered and could be lightened and tuned to be a high performance race engine. Your bike looks reminiscent of one of the Brooklands Broughs.
Well done Geoff what a complicated job people dont realise how much work goes into making a special 10hours thinking 1hour to do the work !! ratio ? hundreds of hours total . wish i had time to chat with you at Bristol enjoy the riding season Witty bsa jawa hybrid
Brilliant bit of engineering work it's just such a great motorcycle brilliant concept and execution in the making of this bike,, most excellent blend of bits,, ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️from Northern Ireland greatly appreciated thank you for the video
There's a chap in Australia called Neal Videan who makes replica Vincent HRD Series A engines and complete motorcycles. On the complete bike builds, he uses Ariel Sq 4 gearbox and clutch. Does that get your blood boiling?
Great build, mate, what a wonderfull bike you have made. It shure would have been great if you had made a video on how it all was done, but we can´t have it all, I guess.
fantastic job Geoff, lets have a listen to it, the idea behind this machine has occupied my pipe dreams but under the Triumph marque, ! though having suggested that to the Hinkley factory tour chap on one visit, it was a dead end, "its not a market we would want to be involved with" which I think is a massive omission from the modern Triumph facility, A triumph vee twin would fit the last piece in the puzzle ,and if you can single handed ,cobble such a classic bike together , what`s stopping Triumph?
@Alfred Wedmore "Of that era" possibly, but the up to date manufacturing quality in modern triumph engines is far better, tolerances are much tighter, smoother running, better equipped ,triumph now could produce a world class machine Alfred, with all the heritage behind it,
@Alfred Wedmore There were some interesting twin engined Triumph drag bikes decades back in the U.S. called "double trouble" which, IIRC, also had the engines coupled with chains. Not a convenient arrangement for a street machine I'd say.
@@nightster6378 Yeah, was building a terminology 'bridge' between 'triple trees' and 'triple clamps' for your query. I've used "yokes" somewhere along the line too. I don't recall what they're referred to in Japanese translations which might bring even more colorful terms. Remembering now, parts requisitions always wrote those as "yokes". I was a service tech and manager for several years back in the '60s and '70s.
A really fantastic bike, what a creation, well done. However it makes you realise how wonderful Allan Millyard's bikes are. He makes all his own parts in his garage unlike this chap who had them made.
your a very clever bloke but you cant say its a 1300 panther from 1959 if you built it your self and built it out of bsa/virago/norton /buell/ triumph/ ariel/ fireblade/ parts etc so what your really saying is a few parts of that bike are from 1959 but not much
Here's the video of Geoff Stray's Panther V-Twin starting-up ua-cam.com/video/rvWgCDSMdzk/v-deo.html
Incredible talent on show there...and not just the owner. That photographer did a great job dodging the zombies who kept walking in shot.

I would love to hear that beast running. 🤠

Oh, I didn't notice. Thanks Geoff! And I tip my hat to you sir, you have made a beautiful motorcycle. Cheers from Finland.
don't say I never give you nuttin'

Beast. Good description
Sounds like he's gonna cry or something. Lol
Well I have to admire his efforts and I love that he's not at all precious about it. It's got bits from just about everything, including a lawnmower.

Fantastic-looking bike.
Beautiful work. Reminds me of the bikes that Mr. Millyard does.
what a great build and a nice guy well done geoff
It looks fantastic
A great job - well done - I love it.
You done a fantastic job. A one off motorcycle that deserves a place in a museum
I would like to hear it running .. Sweet build Total Respect

Fantastic work. I hope this will be at the show again this year so I can see it in person.
Love this bike ! Well done sir !
Wow what a fantastic project. Very impressive bike built by a genius0
I once had a model 120 and thought about this but didn't have the expertise or tooling at the time. I loved that bike.
Complete respect to chaps who can pull this sort of thing off - just amazing 🫡
Beautifully done!
Brilliant, mate; absolutely brilliant.
Work of art
Quite amazing how the owner came up with solutions and made or found parts.

Great machine! Love the engine 😍
Amazing work well done.
An Amazing Job. 👍
Well done sir
Sir, you are a professor² beautiful.
Legend
A great engineering feat !!
Top man.
ace cafe any one lol what a great bike excellant spannering
It wouldn't look so good with a double adult chair but would pull it ok (no doubt) Well done, another mad engineer strikes.
Someone give that man a Ricola.
I stopped and got a cup of tea, hoping that would help!
Is there anywhere we can see construction photos? Lovely bit of work.
Beautiful bike. It’s also beautiful how few masks are being worn! Let’s get on with life yeah? ❤️
Very clever, there some brilliant people out there... Can we hear it run.,. ?
It's very hard to ride it slowly - got a chuckle on that comment.

Sorry mate, the second hand on the clock is a deal breaker for me. 🙃

What an absolutely fantastic bike engineered by an enthusiast and against the grain. What are "triple trees"?
"Triple clamps", one upper and one lower, connecting two fork tubes to the one steering head bearing shaft.
@@whalesong999 The proper engineering term for these is Yokes. A very very old English term.

V4..... how does a vtwin have 4 exhaust pipes.
It’s got twin exhaust ports
