Everyone ... Carburettor tuning is complicated
Allen ... Just made my own .
next minute.... "i built some wings and a tail and now it flies "... what a man and what a bike!
Normal biker: "Whats your RPM reading during cruise ride?"
Allen: "Between three and five."
Normal biker: "Between three thousand and five thousand?"
Allen: "No, between three and five."
I was thinking it could use being resprocketed to get the rpms up and his plugs might not foul so bad
@@ronweber1402 Maybe exhaust gas temperature gauges would allow the mixture to be set leaner without going too far and burning anything.
I absolutely love this guy! With that childish sparkle in his eye when he's talking proudly of his latest creation etc - he's the epitome of the "mad professor" of the motorcycling world! And this twin cylinder 5ltr monster is sooo the Chitty-chitty-bang-bang of Holiwood same!(?) Such A fantastic guy, a true naturally talented inspiration to us all & long may he be so to continue to brighten our lives! I salute you Sir! 😁👍🏍
I had started reading your comment and was thinking about the chitty chitty bang bang contraption from the movie and then i see that you made a comment about it..How cool is that.
Cheers
To say you're a genius Allen would rather be a minimalistic understatement, rather like saying "Water's wet" or "Fire's hot"
Whilst I'm never going to aspire to the lofty heights you've achieved, what you have done is to get me out to my little bike shed and got me trying to make things, and even though I'm disabled since my motorbike accident and have very little tools, I AM doing something; because you made me believe I could. You are an inspiration to us all.
It's a rolling work of art. You sir, are a mechanical genius.
_ and that's an understatement. Thing deserves a 3rd installment. I wannta see it with 1) LP fueling would be perfect, or 2) Mechanical Timed Port fuel Injection 3) Self-learning Electronic Timed Port FI.
Thank You for making this and showing it to us.
The softly spoken gentleman genius makes everything he builds look like they came from a factory, only waaay cooler.
I utterly love Alan’s way of thinking… a cocktail of Heath Robinson meets precision engineering…and not forgetting a sneaky 12V iphone charger!
In the future, after Allen Millard has passed on, his magical creations will receive the top bids at motorcycle auctions. The man is a mechanical artist, rare company indeed.
@@michaelwyllie7778 He is highly respected in the U.S. and everywhere, that was my point - his creations are like those of a true artist.
@@michaelwyllie7778 He’s respected by everyone in the US who knows about him. I think you may mean he’s not well known. These videos are making his US fans more numerous.
I expect his creations would receive top bids even while he's alive, if any were to go to auction.
What an absolute madman! And I say that in the best way possible!
Absolutely everything, from your design concept, to planning and even mold-making, the stunning machine work, and then onto the bits and bobs that make such a stellar engine!
The frame geometry, and then the crafting of a frame!
Allen, you’re such a joy to watch, and to listen to. You’ve rolled all of these well honed disciplines into such a beautiful creations, I am in awe of your ability!
I’ve never built a bike from scratch, but have years of riding and tinkering. Lots of tinkering after I fell in love with my Triumph and Norton. But it was all a 250,000+ mile, and years or tinkering pleasure!
It saddens me that I can no longer ride, but watching you create these masterpieces brings back so many beautiful memories.
Thanks for the ride in your time machine!
I salute you Sir! That is a tremendous motorbike. Incredible! The detailing is spot on. WOW!
When you pulled back up in the garden and let it idle for a second or two I can only imagine what it must feel like to have built something so wonderful! Lovely video as always
Allen you are nothing short of a genius. thank you for taking the time to shoot , edit, narrate and post these wonderful videos. Oh, and your camera assistant does a fine job too.
@@AllenMillyard Allen is the Flying Millyard the same length as the Viper V10 hi 👋 from # YSW 🇨🇦 much respect for all of your great work on all of your videos have a wonderful Sunday July 9th 2023.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
How can anyone watch this and not give it a thumbs up?
The world needs people like this man :-)
Jay Leno show should show your bikes. These are absolutely awesome.
The 12 cylinnder is on display at Barbers Motorcycle Museum outside Birmingham Alabama largest collection of motorcycles in the world also racetrack there awesome facility. DantheMan
Jay Leno, whom overall I like, ain't got shit on this cat! Jay BUYS his stuff, and I'll agree, he does have probably the overall coolest big boy toy collection ever. This guy BUILDS his toys, and from what? The most awesome engine to ever be bolted on an aircraft, the Allison. Anyone that can cut one of those down to 2 jugs, make it run AND look this fk'n cool... saying he has talent is a huge understatement. This guy is a gearhead's gearhead. Kudos, props, 3 thumbs up!!!
Oh yeah... "and at 100 RPM its brutal". Rofl. LOVE THIS.
The cylinders were firing at every other tree in the park 😂
This man is the IKB of the 21st century ......
Brass parts, stainless steel parts, custom handmade parts everywhere. The Flying Millyard is a unique masterpiece built by the most prolific bike builder in history. Allen Millyard.
What an incredible machine! I love it! Very well done indeed. Your unassuming enthusiasm is quite addictive. None of the woops and fist pumping nonsense those over exuberant Americans go on with, just a gentle measured expression, and humble pride in your own achievements. Very British. Jolly good show I say.
And then he would add, with his customary victorian good manners, " a cup of tea with that?"
Yep, his quiet, unassuming nature is what makes me love his work so much. just a humble joy that he shows as he shares his creations with us.
It's true , contrary to behaviour we aren't an American state , for which I daily give thanks .
Mechanical genius and master engineer 👍👍👍
Pre-flight being the operative word... it's so nice to see that beautiful vintage Pratt and Whitney kit being re-purposed and in use. I also love that each induction and exhaust stroke is audible... a masterpiece Allen!
I smiled when I saw your comment here, great mechanics watching great mechanics!!!
Yeah. Some people would waste an engine like that by making it into a coffee table.
One of the greatest engineers i have ever seen. Incredible work Allen.
I am blown away! The bike is incredible. Allen, your engineering & design skills are almost beyond belief. Congratulation you are a genius.
It must be a wonderful experience riding the FM! A truly beautiful work of art.
That bike is rolling art! You sir are a genius and a true craftsman. I love all your videos. You are an inspiration to get out and build something. Thank you for the great content. Best motorcycle channel on UA-cam!
When i saw your ringing on the phone thought you were getting clearance for take off lol tower to cycle you can lift off
Did you nitice that he is connected to one of those automatic centrals?
Beautifully filmed and edited video = very professional. I live in the vast, open spaces of rural Australia, and as a motorcyclist those (seemingly) narrow roads with hedgerows scare me; I'm on edge least something should pop out from the side, which is silly since the video has been taken and you've obviously survived ! Don't stop making your films; I love them. Thanks!
YES, this animal could do with some large expanses of highway ...Scares TH out of me those cloistered runs.👍
Plains of KS has MUCH of this.
Truly amazing! ( i wish my Father was around to see this, he was a highly qualified mechanic engineer, he would have been equally impressed ) This whole motorbike is almost entirely hand made a true work of art, by a genius Allen Millyard!
HP of the engine would not be high, torque would enormous pulling power!! You would not need to change gears much, Beautiful machine, the workmanship is amazing!!
- How much torque does it have?
- Yes!
Let's say it broke the rolling road and then the earth started to spin 5mph faster!
The flying Millyard sounds good, and certainly different, but the Velocette sounds fantastic.
Whatever he gets from UA-cam it's not enough! Simply an incredible man!
Such an impressing machine!!. I have a 1989 royal Enfield bullet which i used think has massive torque😂. But by seeing the fm's flywheel I'm really blown away. 5000cc of pure torque!!! I'm eagerly waiting for your viper bike series.
Looking thru the sparkplug holes across the cylinder, that was hilarious.
The perfect expression of Allen himself: civilized lunacy ;)
The finest rolling art I have ever seen its got everything, looks, mechanical wizardry and the best torque related sound ever even on idle.its just ace.
This man needs a bike naming after him, oh wait. This man needs a queens award for industry.
That was totally amazing I felt I was riding the bike excellent camera work and the sound with head phones is astonishing well done Allen I'm off to watch it again bye
Allen, you have those amazing skills we all love to see in a home made motorcycle. Sweet traces of Vincent, Excelsior, Crocker, Brough and others in your designs. Inspiration is the doorway to innovation and you have walked right through it proudly!
Mad lads in sheds indeed!! Just the sheer talent of this man! I'm going to Barber Motorsports in Alabama this fall and I can't WAIT to see some of Allen's bikes!
"Hello? I'd like a quote to insure a completely custom made bike that's powered by part of an aero engine.... Hello?.....Hello???"
"Darren, Darren! It's that bloody nutter again...!!"
Alan, you are simply amazing!
I too was wondering how much it costs to insure this aircraft??? 😫
@@FoodFestTelevision Why bother? Outside of being lost to fire it could only be hidden in plain sight, like a faux Mona Lisa.
Riz Reid legal requirement to ride on the road. No insurance, police impound your vehicle.....
I am guessing Allen is in his 50s, probably has a few years NCB and insures multiple vehicles. Age of bike? 1947 ish? Horsepower? 100 to 150? No supercharger and not balanced like a rotary for higher revs. It might not be that scary in terms of cost. I just increased my BMW R65 to 860 and it cost me a tenner. Mainly for admin even though it was renewal time. If I was 19 and wanted a Ducati, then the price would be different. I imagine the Viper might be a different prospect...
Edit 1930s and 80 ish HP after quick search. Value for insurance? Various scrap parts bolted together, could be £1,000 or £20,000 unless it's been valued!
Great filming. Every time I see that bike it puts a smile on my face, none more so than when its in motion. Thanks.
Is this engineering or what, I take my hat off to you Allen.
It is brilliant.
I was counting individual combustion hits listening to that engine; what a glorious sound!
Absolutely fantastic. My favorite “Millyard” motorcycle. I watched it on my 75” tv with the surround on. Sounds AMAZING. Looks AMAZING. What a bike. Great job!
I'm glad I listen through headphones. She sounds as good as she looks, loved seeing the people at the pub getting their phones out to get pics/videos as you passed.
WOW! Simply can't get the words out to give you and the Flying Millyard a truly deserving compliment. Allen, you are amongst a rare breed indeed.
Thank you for allowing me to watch this.
Terry.
I just love the rawness of this magnificent machine.
Mr. Millyard may indeed be a mad scientist, but you gotta admit: He puts out some awesome (and a little bit quirky) motorcycle video content. I'm a subscriber. Keep 'em coming, Doc!
I'm constantly amazed how such a large twin can run so smooth, seems very little vibration. Amazing Allen!
@@AllenMillyard Of course you did,,,,,
You're the crank whisperer. Lol
Bloody humbling to even just look at, hat off to you Sir
Queued up behind Allen for the IOM ferry returning to Liverpool. He laughed at the prospect of the Flying Millyard filling the ferry hold with exhaust smoke on start up at Liverpool ! Great guy
Awwww take it out on tha open road and let her ROAR !!!
Oh my God, your content is getting better and better Allen!
Thank you for sharing your magnificent machine to us!
I could talk to you for hours and hours about all the processes that went into making this bike, pure engineering excellence 👍👍👍👍👍

That Is Beyond Cool, Man! I'd Love To See It! Imagine A T-Shirt Graphic Of Rat Fink Sitting On This Bike!
Little bit of sanity in a messed up world, thank you !
I'm starting to look for a Tardis in the background.
Just Amazing.
What a truly amazing brain Allen must have to come up with and produce these incredible works of motorcycling art. Completely blown away!
SImply superb. Love your videos and enjoy how you don't appear to take things too seriously although you are a true genius. The best bit of Henry's Motorbike show are when he gets you in to sort an engine. Stay Safe.
Those vibrations have an engine rather than vice versa, just brilliant!

You are one step away of my Hero’s wishing you all the best! CHEERS from the USA..
What an amazing bike but what I really want is my own Charlie Weaver 😂. Thanks Allen for another cracking vid. 👍
just beyond my comprehension really ...... must be like riding a narrow boat? fantastic vehicle for sure! thanks for the share.
I can only imagine what this would be like as a Single Cylinder Thumper, WOW. Just amazing
Thanks allan for the relaxing ride and a fine video of the FM. t is truly one of a kind and a joy to behold. Please never give any of your bikes to the Yanks. These are best of British and something we can all be proud of and honoured that you keep up the tradtion of British engineering at its best. You are the John Britten of the UK. Long may you live and continue to brng us joy
You amaze me on every video i watch ! Im a self proclaimed HD mechanic and ive built some nice bikes myself . You make one of a kind bikes from scratch which is a whole other level
This indeed a work of ART !!! SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
The craftsmanship put into this thing is simply amazing, and a little like such of a wizard. Driving it on public roads makes it even more fantastic!
It is very inspiring for an amateur like me!
Bloody awesome!! From Australia! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘
Thanks Allen, just made my Friday even better, look foward to the Viper vid.
A great video..She looks a little challenging to ride....
You said that your next video is on the viper...yippee
If Superman ever needed a motorcycle I should think he would call on you to build it. Has to be the most amazing build I’ve ever seen
Glorious sound. Oh to pull up next to a Harley at the lights on THAT!
Alan outstanding as always pure genius and true one off motorcycles that surely must rank with the best in the world, and all from an English shed, I am sure another major motorcycling icon started in a shed! Here’s looking to your future.
It's strange hearing such low engine speed. It just seems wrong. Amazing.
Ya shoulda heard the 60s Royal Endfield ,twins, they would go ka chug 1,2 ka chug 3,4 ka chug 1,2 ka chug ,3,4 at idle at a stoplight ! 60mph was low idle, max rpm 1200 at 120mph !!! If you ever heard one,you never forgot it !!
And with every ka chug, it would vibrate from taillight to front fender stop for one second and DO IT AGAIN !!!
Lost for words except one
GENIUS ⚠️
Wow, you’re not only a Genius, you’re also a Artist. I can’t say Wow, enough times. Just incredible.👍👍❤️😁
The longest handlebar in the world is required to reach over that colossal engine!! Did you say 60mph at 900 rpm? Adjectives fail me Alan....fantastic!!
Not so much handlebar as..tiller :)
Inspiring guy, thanks for sharing 👍
You see long handlebars and tanks on early motorcycles, especially 4 cylinder models. We used "longhorn" handlebars on our bicycles when I was a kid in the USA in the 1950s.
I'm just glad it's actually getting used, many people would have that sat doing nothing in a museum.
Living legend , bike and rider 👍👍
Pure English skill and engineering you have my admiration. Your Flying Millyard brings back childhood memories of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang but on two wheels 😁👍👍
I was listening to some Electronic Dance Music (Amelie Lens) with my Sony SuperBass headphones on when your video popped up on the screen, so I clicked on it, jesus, your bike reminds me of the 1979 Lincolnshire Steam Fair!!
I have been waiting for this. Wasn't disappointed. Brilliant.
its wonderful to see a person, who is living his life for him..
'Proper Sooty'.....say no more! pure genius.
Stunning. One of the most fantastic machines I've seen.
At tick over, it sounds a bit like a stationary engine. Musical.
This is one of the most amazing machines I've ever seen! No joke: I just commented on Jay Leno's Garage to have you on the show. Really amazing craftsmanship that captures early motorcycling and airplanes. Great stuff.
HEAR HEAR, even Leno ought to be impressed with this ...I'd like to see Leno gobsmacked to where he was wordless
"Made some carbs" and "designed the balance weight by eye" Genius!
I love it that in this day and age it's still legal to create a completely bonkers motorcycle and ride it on the road. Long may it continue.
Love that Bike! Great job, Sir.
Seen this bike on Poole quay never heard it running until now wow sounds like nothing else I have heard before awesome👍🇬🇧
It's begging for clip-on's!

Sounds like a large truck Diesel. I can imagine the sound of a turbo and then the diesel just takes off. Absolutely amazing. Cant imagine the torque on that beast!
