Ned's downfall here isn't that he's trying to "do good things", it's that he's trying to do the things the rule says. When Renly challenged him about how Stannis would be a _bad_ king, note that Ned doesn't disagree. Or agree; he completely ignores the point, because to him it _doesn't matter_. The rules say he's the king, so he's the king. Is he a terrible choice who'll destroy the realm? Doesn't matter, that's what the rules say.
He certainly has plenty of reason to dislike Joffrey, but he doesn't want him off the throne because of that, just because he's not Robert's son so the rules say he's not in line for it. If Ned actually _did_ believe Joffrey was Robert's son, you can assume he _would_ be supporting Joffrey's claim against anyone else, no matter how bad a choice he would think Joffrey was.
And yes. A boar will absolutely tear you up if you let it. They can out weigh you, out run you, and out rage you.

So, fun fact: pretty much all across the Southern US, you have open season on wild boar because they destroy everything in their path at lightning speed. If you've never seen a wild boar, I can see how you might be confused. It could be easy to think of them as just little wild piggies, but they're far from it. Boar hogs average 220-250 lbs and just under 3 feet tall, but several have been recorded at 500+ lbs and almost 4 feet tall. Their tusks average about 5 inches and can be used for rooting and throwing large (100+ lbs) rocks and debris. But. Again, its not at all unheard of for a larger boar hog to have tusks more than a foot long.
With Robert, he would have been on foot with a large spear, attempting to take out an animal that was more than half his height, very easily could have outweighed him (yes - even now), and had two 15-inch, sharp strong curved tusks jutting from its face. When Robert slipped, it's very likely that the boar plowed into him and hooked onto him, shook its head, and then Robert probably caught an inch or two of air before he hit the ground again. The boar very literally scrambled his guts.
But, again... this it's super easy to not know this. 😊

The intro doesn’t actually show 100% locations that are talked about in the episode like someone made you believe. That’s misinformation that gets spread around. The show DOES introduce new locations in some episodes where a new location is introduced in the story, but it’s only a few each season. So it is good to pay attention to the intro but it’s not as intricate each episode as you were led to believe

That’s not entirely true, the main locations are always shown being KL, Winterfell and the Wall regardless, and other locations are added or taken out depending on what is in the episode. Locations like the Twins or the Eyrie are dropped then return later on in the series

You are right: Ned is too honorable to be in a snake pit such as King's Landing. Cersei's sarcastic remark about Ned being just a soldier is right: he only knows how to act by the book; he is not a politician.

If you want to know more about the 'new gods and the old' i cannot stress enough that you need to watch Histories and Lore. There's one on youtube for each season and they're spoiler free, atleast if you watch it after every season. It's a bit dense at the beggining (it actually starts with the gods) but it is so, so interesting and they give some ~context~ to the say the least to this world and everything thats happening.

    “That’s good…perfect! So we’re basically safe now…somehow…right???” 😂 You sweet summer child 😁
Since you say you are curious about the gods described in this “world”, I have a solution…watch the History & Lore…there is one for each season. They are very good at explaining things, especially for someone who hasn’t read any of the books. Even I, as a book fan found those to be very entertaining. They are narrated by different characters of the series and will give you their perspective of events, which may differ from others. Top notch 👍
Great reaction! I think you are catching on to the world of GoT. You don’t believe everything you hear, and you suspect at every turn…good job 😉
Watching Ned was frustrating, I agree. He’s an honorable character through and through and he expects others to be honorable. He is naive indeed but he cannot act otherwise, it’s not in his upbringing.
I can’t wait to see your future reactions. You’re very observant and that goes a long way to give an intelligent commentary after each episode. Keep it up and keep ‘em coming 😋

2:45 a detail most casual watchers don't catch is that Robert names Ned regent but that doesn't mean king. As lord regent and protector of the realm, he would govern and effectively reign in all but name, but the crown still goes to the first in the line of succession, who is Joffrey (we know through that he's indeed a bastard). This is due to Joffrey being under the age of 16, the age to rule. Other than this, nice reaction!

KL, Winterfell and the Wall are just the main locations and is always featured in the opening regardless, other locations specific to the episode are added or replaced… I mean, they have to fill out the lengthy title theme with something lol

Think about Bronn’s fight for Tyrion at the Vale. The knight fought with honor… Bronn fought to win
Ned’s flaw here is he’s so honorable, he can’t conceive of someone not doing the same

    • @Aeroldoth3
      @Aeroldoth3 3 місяці тому

I... disagree. It's not that honorable people can't imagine other people not being honorable.... they ABSOLUTELY can. They're surrounded by it and see it every day.
It's that honor is something you live and die by. Honor is NOT about winning. Honor is a way of life. To be honorable is to prefer to die with honor than to "win". Having honor means prioritizing "doing the right thing", not looking for personal gain and advantage.

    1. This is an actual deer Charles Dance is skinning.
    2. Concerning the Board: Board are very dangerous. It is easy to imagine: a drunken Robert, the boar runs towards hum, throws him to the ground and cuts Robert open.

    I ❤your intros and outros.
Yes, The History and Lore videos will give you a lot of backstories, including the Weirwood Trees.
Osha is definitely a Wilding that's why she calls everyone South of The Wall " Southerners".
Btw I think you were trying to say Pyke..(Stronghold of House Greyjoy) Pyke is one of the Iron Islands..
The Stag that Tywin was skinning was definitely real and symbolic since House Baratheon sigil is a Stag..
Jake my friend you have so much more to go. It took me a couple of full Episode rewatches to get at 90%...there is always going to be something more you going to want to learn. Just Enjoy❤

If you're thinking of watching the House of the Dragon it's good to remember that Dany's brother's name was Viserys (vis air ees). The House of the Dragon is about the Targarians.

Thr wine Robert was given was very strong, he was very drunk. A boar, a.wild pig, has strong tusks and they are extremely aggressive. So, Robert very drunk facing a boar with a spear missed and was gouged.
At theend of the season watchthe History & Lore, it will help answer questions you have.

Ser Alliser Thorne (nights watch) hates Jon so much because during Robert's Rebellion, he fought for the Targaryens. After the war, all Targaryen loyalists were forced to take the black or be executed. Tormenting Jon is probably just him getting revenge for losing his lands and titles
BTW if you didn't know, a fortnight is two weeks. A moon is a month.

Really hope you watch the first History and Lore.
Even if you don't watch the others.
The whole video is multiple stories(parts of history) told from different perspectives.
The first half of the video is deep History.
(The first men, The Andals invasion, The nights watch, Aegon The Conquerors conquest etc)
The second half is a detailed telling of Roberts rebellion.
Keep up the epic work 🤩

It wasn't Littefinger's fault that thing with Jaime, despite Littefinger being a piece of s, that was all Jaime. The King, it was clearly insinuated in Varys words, that he was lacing his drink with something that made him not having his reflexes as usual, and mate, research on boars, they kill people even nowadays. Jorah, faced with her death, realised what he truly should do.

  • @cosmocoatl

To be fair "the last time he wanted something, you got stabbed in the leg by jaime and his people" wasn't really Littlefingers doing, at least its not obvious that it was. So that doesn't really indicate anything to Ned. Plus he needed the guards employed by Littlefinger.
