I know I will stand alone on this, but my favourite album of Pantera is The Great Southern Trendkill. So angry, so raw, so direct, so brutal at every level. I love that album so much.
I remember listening to Far Beyond Driven at the store, and not being able to take off the headphones - I just couldn't believe what I was hearing (in the good way). Me and some classmates were shopping for a birthday present for someone from our class, and apparently he already had the Pantera album, so we didn't get him that, obviously; but I really wanted to buy such an awesome album to give as a gift. The birthday boy has since passed on, but I always think of him (and Far Beyond...) when I think of Pantera.
1. I Am the Night 2. Power Metal 3. Cowboys from Hell 4. Projects in the Jungle 5. Metal Magic 6. The Great Southern Trendkill 7. Reinventing the Steel 8. Vulgar Display of Power 9. Far Beyond Driven
Another great video Mr B! Always a difficult one to do considering all 5 albums are solid albums! Probably the only band we consider that their first album was actually their 5th!
My ranking of pantera’s groove metal era album would be: 1. Vulgar display of power 2. Cowboys from hell 3. Far beyond driven 4. The great southern trendkill 5. Reinventing the steel
I need to check out the 80s stuff, lol. I've only heard the 90s+ stuff andI have never got to grips with Pantera to be honest, not 100% sure why so maybe one day. Enjoyed hearing your thoughts on them though.
Obviously just watching this now 🤦♂️ I can be such a schmuck haha. I think I will get on this either this evening or tomorrow after Rachel’s livestream
Pantera was my religion in the 90s🤘love and have all of those you showed on vinyl. Can you hear Rex’s bass, answer me!! Can you hear the ducking bass🤘official live 101 proof😝 lucky to have see them live twice.
Interesting ranking. Shame their 80s albums haven't been repressed as I think they are great. These are the only pantera albums I have and think I'd have a different order, although steel would be bottom as I think it's quite a bit weaker than the others. I think cowboys is probably the most palletable,
My opinions on these albums always change because they are all so amazing but ill give it a go 1-far beyond 2.trendkill 3.Vulgar 4.Cowboys 5.Reinventing
The behind the scenes issues were for Trendkill not Steel. They were getting along pretty well for RTS. All drama around Pantera is greatly over blown. Lots of myths, lots of revisionist history, especially about the break up which was actually a PLANNED BREAK. Philip announced it at the shows all over UA-cam and Vince confirmed it in interviews i still own. Regardless, great band. #1 *Reinventing The Steel easy* #2 Official Live 101 Proof #3 Far Beyond Driven *Rebel Meets Rebel* #4 Vulgar Display Of Power #5 The Great Southern Trendkill #6 Cowboys From Hell *NEW FOUND POWER* #7 Power Metal #8 Projects In The Jungle #9 I Am The Night #10 Metal Magic
Got to agree that all of these are tremendous but I'd have Cowboys at 1 and Vulgar very close behind at 2. I'll have to put them on because I've not listened to some of them in a while.
One of my favourite bands Pantera. Cowboys and Vulgar are my joint favourites. I love all their albums in the 90's and RTS. Not heard their 80's stuff though
@@JoshKeech "cowboys and vulgar are my joint favorites" "I don't know CFH..." I'm not sure what you're saying. If you like CFH you'll probably like Power Metal. It's a whole album of songs like 'Shattered' from CFH. If you like that style of vocal its a great album. great guitar work too. 'We'll Meet Again' may be the greatest solo of Dimebags career.
@@integrity101 Ah ok, sorry I had a brain fart 😂😂 Ah right ok cool, I do like that song. Tbh I'm not a big fan of those type of high pitch vocals, but I think it's funny that Phil is doing it! 😂😂 Yeah I really wanna check that album out 🤘🤘
@@JoshKeech Yea i wasnt either but i eventually fell in love with priest/Halford. Panteras Power Metal is right here on UA-cam check it out. 'Death Trap' is probably my favorite song but 'We'll Meet Again' is arguably Darrells greatest guitar solo. Its the Cemetery Gates of the Power Metal album
I agree Vulgar Display is their best... but I think Cowboys is #2, and how could you mention every song on that one except for Cemetary Gates? It's like their brutal version of a power ballad, lol... and it is perfect.
I agree with you on lots of points here. Anselmo did change the look and does have an awesome voice. I only ever heard the first 3 albums and seen them at Donnington 94. I thought Cowboys had a handful of of killer songs on it, Vulgar I thought the first 6 were awesome and a another handful on the Beyond album. My problem with them started with the people in my town to be honest. A large group of metal fans who drank in the pub and were in the scene NEVER shut up about them from the minute they heard them and even to this day its all they post on Facebook. It seemed like every skill that the band possessed was exaggerated to ludicrous lengths and through no fault of the band, by around 95 I shut them out. I could never listen to them again now even 25 years on because of these clowns round here lol. They done the excact same with DOWN and CORROSION OF CONFORMTY.
@@mrboulder9714 yes it is... BUT at the same time it seems as though most of these people only know of the stuff that is played on the radio.... Now @MetalMickey one can NEVER exaggerate the skills and talent of Dime.... Cowboys from Hell & Vulgar Display of Power will remain unbeatable IMO.

Vulgar and Far Beyond Driven are the pinnacle. Hard to pick one over the other. Absolute masterpieces.

1- Cowboys
2- Power Metal
3- Far Beyond
4- Vulgar
I don’t care for the rest of their catalog

Pantera’s 80’s albums aren’t on streaming Which is a damn shame

Reinventing was my favourite of theirs
