      Hi, what size of a do I need for the diodes if I want to conver my motorcycle stator that pruduces only 55 watts of AC and I want to run like 30 watts of DC led lights what sept up do I need like this ?

      @@rootuser7206 The adapter puts out AC voltage, The "Diodes" changes it to DC and the "Capacitor" cleans up the wave to make it useable.

      @@danneybarr1428 then again he never provided that it puts out ac voltage. Even when he shows the meter the symbol is not clear. I doubt it was ac voltage. I have never seen ac voltage come out at 9v .

      @@j.s3612 luckily the adapter part is in the video and you can google it to see that it is in fact a 9v AC output. Also the meter he's using has the waveform dislayed on it....

    output is 9V on the charger then why it increase after the rectifier? does it supposed to step down the voltage?

    Cool video. How do you calculate the value of the capacitor? Another thing, how do you get a DC output of 15V when the output of the transformer is 9V Ac? Thanks for the help.

      W02 bridge rectifier will give you 15v output. But your power supply should be higher. Check the datasheet

    I have made a full wave bridge rectifier, using four 5408 diodes & 1000 microfarad 25V capacitor, with transformer ( 12V 4A ) but AC current is leaking on the output terminals, when i am touching the output terminals with tester then it is glowing brightly.

    hi, what would be the formula to calculate how many volts the conversion from AC to DC would be without a DSO150 or similar tool? Like I should be able to pull out an old AC adaptor, look at the output of it, factor in the type of diode and capacitor and get an answer no? I mean, how did people figure this stuff out on paper before digital tools where available. (If it's not obvious, I want to know because I like figuring things out on paper with nothing more than formulas _just_ because... well just because lol.
    Side note: I know little to nothing about electronics (if you couldn't tell by my lack of relevant terminology) but I'm good at researching until I figure it out so go easy on me if you decide to answer this question. :)

      Yes, but only do if you know what you are doing. You will need a different Capacitor. Again "DANGEROUS" using high voltage.

      He uses 25volt since he is using an adapter that must contain a step down transformer. If you do this without the adapter you need a 400 volt capacitor.
      The 25 volt capacitor would go boom in an instant

      You can use any capacitor with higher voltage than the output of the full bridge rectifier.

      @X Dtd If you don't connect capacitor, it will be fine, but you don't get DC current at the output. You need to connect capacitor so the output will be smooth DC current.

      It can be done with 110vac but you need a Capacitor to handle the higher voltage. I believe he is just showing the principle of the project. "9v is safer for demonstration" 110v is DANGEROUS! only try if you know what you are doing.
