@@noice9193 Giganto is easy and you can cheese the Knight if you get a lot of time. For the second phase just pick a corner, wait for Knight to come close and Sonic boom when it's about to pass through. Wyvern... you just gotta do a lot of waiting. And punished with more waiting if you mess up a cycle.

As someone who took 8 hours to learn how to perfect parry all the bosses and beat the trial with 120 rings left on hard. "Just so you guys know, it is 4 in the morning." and "I found my flame now I wanna find my bed." both hit unnecessarily hard for me. That being said. I was very happy I spent so long perfect parrying once I hit the final boss.

@@DarkShadowX9 It could have worked if there were more obvious tells on when each attack would land. Instead, you have to memorize the timing. It's arguably not that bad, but in a time trial where you've got ANOTHER boss battle right afterward with Knight, it is a terrible idea.
The End really wanted everyone to perish by using Supreme to achieve its goal, but forgot that Sonic always comes out on top no matter how tough the battle is.

This DLC is probably the best Sonic experience I ever had, truly amazing update that makes the game actually challenging. This update is everything I ever could've wanted and more
From what I've read online, this update was basically the team experimenting with different characters, and that they're actually planning on making the next sonic game to be at least in the spirit of sonic adventure 3, and I am hype
Hopefully they actually make them somewhat different from Sonic. Tails and Knuckles were a little different, but Amy was basically just an outright clone with an extra jump and slight hover

Although I think all the complaints about the difficulty for this update are overblown, I did admittedly have to switch to Easy specifically for the Wyvern fight. Everything else I could do on Hard.
@@NeroV1L3 Maybe when playing as Knuckles, I'd agree, but otherwise not really. Unless you count adding perfect parrying to bosses that weren't designed for it janky, then yeah, that's why I had to switch to Easy for Wyvern.
@KirbyPhelpsPK mainly referring to the regular game not being reliable, flying off the run on wall sections, glitching through sections on the towers, and of course the garbage camera in the final boss being obscured by trees and not being able to do anything about it besides hoping it doesn't happen the next time you fight him
so not only has my favorite sonic channel youtuber, choc, not fiddled with the controls to make frontiers a little easyer, he hasnt even got max anything for sonic, no max rings, no attack, defense, i feel so bad for you i really do. but i have to give you props for playing the hardcore darksouls frontiers for us.
Rule of thumb, always read the hints during the loading screens. "If something looks suspicious, cyloop it." If there's a weird thing with a crosshair on it, but you're unable to attack it, 99% of the time, you need to cyloop it.

The movies, this game, Superstars, the ever growing possibility that we’ll actually see Adventure 3 in some form or another (they keep hinting at it or addressing it directly), the comics are still great, and people are liking Prime- I don’t wanna jinx it, but I think we’re finally outta the dark ages.
that card toss reminds me of an old SNES game "Pocky and Rocky". Pocky's main attack involved tossing cards, unless she picked up Fire powerups. Rocky would throw Leaves instead. those powerups behaved in a very frustrating way, they would make your power DROP unless you picked up the same type twice in a row!
The towers on hard are considerably worse the more you fail. The first time through, you have lots of homing attack targets. Afterwards, you have to walk on tiny paths, land on precise targets, etc, because the blocks and things don't respawn. Maybe it's because I was using the default settings, but it was a pain. Hated the master king trial (had to use a guide and even then it took me hours, no reason to make it like that; I would've been fine with them doing that on hard, but even normal was absurd) and thought the new boss was way too unclear/the payoff of all your hard work being a worse parry was very disappointing. But in the end, we got to play SA1-style Tails again, and that's all I really wanted in a Sonic game (I've been waiting for that since I was a kid). Also, every new song was just amazing, Cyberspace or overworld, and they went way too hard with the cutscenes. Very excited to see the next Sonic game.
Coming to this video after FINALLY COMPLETING THE FINAL UPDATE (besides new game plus). I think you replaying the game from the beginning is a good idea. They've made some updates to make the absolutely craziness that was the trials easier.
On my first run of the Master King Koco's trial I had a bug that meant that when I ran out of rings, I didn't stop being super Sonic, but when I was next hit I died, which I thought was actually a pretty neat way of handling the really low ring count of 400, since you're invulnerable until it's empty. Then I realised it was a bug the first time...
im suprised u never unlocked tails cyclone thing but unlocked most of amys stuff even her spindash. idk if u seen it, but the cyclone literally lets u skip everything u can go anywhere its so fun
I cried the first time you beat it. This time I was BAWLING 😢 I was wondering when you'd get to this, and I'm super happy you got through it. Sonic and the Black Knight is a game I absolutely grew to love. Though, I've played both Secret Rings and Black Knight. Some parts of black Knight. are pretty rough especially for the lava area. But, it's a nice game. Probably pretty janky control wise though.
Even with the flaws leading up to it (even itself as, unless you know what you're doing, you will definetly have a hard time with it even in easy or normal mode) I can definetly say that the end in this update is one of, if not, my favorite final boss fight in the entire franchise. Lots of stuff in the update definetly needs fixing and maybe it will in frontiers 2 or whatever comes next after this but I still enjoyed my time with it (except the trials, those can screw off)
OK let me give you reasons why 1. spin dash wasnt in the original release, we had to wait for dlc to get spindash 2. the bosses suck, people like to say the spectacle makes it good but the gameplay on the bosses is button mashy 3. the parry is SUPER EASY, and makes literally any fight not feel fun 4. the combat is very mashy 5. cyberspace is very cool for speedrunning, but the physics in cyberspace sucks 6. the OST doesnt fit alot of the time with the boss fights, but the boss ost is cool 7. why doesnt the spindash not have momentum wtf? 8. THE MOMENTUM IS THIS GAME IS TRASH 9. somehow amy's glide is better than knuckles, his glide controls like garbage 10. this game isnt worth 60 dollars, they had 5 years and made a broken mess of a game 11. Cyberspace is literally just an excuse to reuse old assets in a boring way Sonic fans need to realise that it doesnt matter that "SONIC FRONTIERS IS THE NEXT BIG STEP" Grow up, its a fully priced game its not a fangame they had 5 years and came up with this? Okay, two things. First, the whole thing about doing no damage to bosses is annoying, but they changed the Starfall event to help with that, and it's called Starfall+. Creative, I know. Instead of the slot machine in the main game, the Starfall collectibles are Kocos, Offence Seeds, and Defence Seeds. And you get _a lot_ from it. If you're running around for the whole night grabbing things, you'll get around 2500-3000 Koco, and 150-200 of each kind of seed. More than enough to max all of your stats. Second, the "perfect parry" thing for Master King Koco's trial. _It fully depends on difficulty._ Somebody dug in the game's code and found out the timing for each difficulty, and the change is huge. Easy has a window of 60 frames, or 1 second. Normal is 12 frames, or 1/5 of a second. Hard is 8 frames, or 2/15 of a second. Extreme is 4 frames, of 1/15 of a second. If you struggle with doing damage to bosses, wait for Starfall+. If you struggle with the perfect parry for the trial, lower the difficulty. Also, it may say it's perfect parry with The End, but you can hold it like a normal parry.
You know the koko with a backpack was a last-minute addition, after they saw how adorable a korok with a backpack looked in TotK. The Japanese will never abandon their "kawai" outlook on everything.

I didn't get this game until recently for Xmas and all I can say is I loved it. The music was banging and I can't get it out of my head. The whole game was awesome and was a huge love letter to all sonic fans. The pinball surprised me bc I was not expecting it, and the boss fights were so much fun to do. I loved playing this game and if they make a sequel I hope it's in this format
24:35 Thier's actually a trick you can do with the spin dash. There's a little climbing puzzle near that tower where you slam down on buttons to create a path upwards. Go upwards and on top of that puzzle structure you can spin dash off of it to skip the first rail and floaty sections. It might help to mess with your deceleration settings so you retain more of your momentum, but this trick really helped me in skipping the annoying first part of the tower.
As someone who completed this update on switch, the third tower had the game running at a very low fps. And the final section was mind numbingly hard, especially with the joycons.
I teared up a bit when Robotnik called Sage his Dear Daughter. I'm a sucker for things like these. I was bummed out about how Sage ended up disappearing at the end of the campaign. I'm so glad we got to see them together again. Here's to hoping that they show up again in the future Also, like you said, Robotnik and Sonic teaming up will always be a highlight for me, and I absolutely love the soundtrack for this game, especially the vocal tracks.

@Liam-vb3xo they aren't required, but there are many points where they make a challenge way easier. Like that one point on the first tower climb or in certain cyberspace levels. Choc was scaling the tower and fell while trying to reach the launch ring where a single Ring Dash would let him reach it without needing to risk falling all the way down with a missed jump.

King coco's challenge turns wyvern from the easiest titan, to the absolute hardest. You literally cannot hit it without getting the perfect parry

I swapped to easy becuz I pulled an all nighter and was getting tired of the pre-fight chase. Boss rushes dont need chase sequences

Very excited to see the next Sonic game.
Coming to this video after FINALLY COMPLETING THE FINAL UPDATE (besides new game plus). I think you replaying the game from the beginning is a good idea. They've made some updates to make the absolutely craziness that was the trials easier.

On my first run of the Master King Koco's trial I had a bug that meant that when I ran out of rings, I didn't stop being super Sonic, but when I was next hit I died, which I thought was actually a pretty neat way of handling the really low ring count of 400, since you're invulnerable until it's empty.
Then I realised it was a bug the first time...
im suprised u never unlocked tails cyclone thing but unlocked most of amys stuff even her spindash. idk if u seen it, but the cyclone literally lets u skip everything u can go anywhere its so fun

I cried the first time you beat it. This time I was BAWLING 😢 I was wondering when you'd get to this, and I'm super happy you got through it. Sonic is seated firmly at the top of his game and I'm here for it. And Eggman has become more respected in my eyes. Thanks for the awesome experience, Choc 👍✌️👍
Completed it on the switch, needed a beer after FINALLY ascending the 2nd tower and another one after FINALLY beating wyvern.
10/10 would rage again.

Sonic and the Black Knight is a game I absolutely grew to love. Though, I've played both Secret Rings and Black Knight. Some parts of black Knight. are pretty rough especially for the lava area. But, it's a nice game. Probably pretty janky control wise though.
At least you weren’t playing extreme mode with insta death. That would have broken you a little to much I feel.
Wyvern with 4 frame long parries would have broken him lol , a dude completed it successfully after 20 hours of trying and using a glitch

Even with the flaws leading up to it (even itself as, unless you know what you're doing, you will definetly have a hard time with it even in easy or normal mode) I can definetly say that the end in this update is one of, if not, my favorite final boss fight in the entire franchise. Lots of stuff in the update definetly needs fixing and maybe it will in frontiers 2 or whatever comes next after this but I still enjoyed my time with it (except the trials, those can screw off)
I already loved this game before and considered it my favorite Sonic game, but this update made me love it even more than I already did!

OK let me give you reasons why
1. spin dash wasnt in the original release, we had to wait for dlc to get spindash
2. the bosses suck, people like to say the spectacle makes it good but the gameplay on the bosses is button mashy
3. the parry is SUPER EASY, and makes literally any fight not feel fun
4. the combat is very mashy
5. cyberspace is very cool for speedrunning, but the physics in cyberspace sucks
6. the OST doesnt fit alot of the time with the boss fights, but the boss ost is cool
7. why doesnt the spindash not have momentum wtf?
8. THE MOMENTUM IS THIS GAME IS TRASH
9. somehow amy's glide is better than knuckles, his glide controls like garbage
10. this game isnt worth 60 dollars, they had 5 years and made a broken mess of a game
11. Cyberspace is literally just an excuse to reuse old assets in a boring way
Sonic fans need to realise that it doesnt matter that "SONIC FRONTIERS IS THE NEXT BIG STEP" Grow up, its a fully priced game its not a fangame they had 5 years and came up with this? Dont kid yourself, this game sucks. I expect more from Sonic Team, but I do think Sonic Superstars will be good.

Good news that the patch foxes knuckles glide and now the master king trail is the best one by far
Okay, two things.
First, the whole thing about doing no damage to bosses is annoying, but they changed the Starfall event to help with that, and it's called Starfall+. Creative, I know.
Instead of the slot machine in the main game, the Starfall collectibles are Kocos, Offence Seeds, and Defence Seeds.
And you get _a lot_ from it. If you're running around for the whole night grabbing things, you'll get around 2500-3000 Koco, and 150-200 of each kind of seed. More than enough to max all of your stats.
Second, the "perfect parry" thing for Master King Koco's trial.
_It fully depends on difficulty._ Somebody dug in the game's code and found out the timing for each difficulty, and the change is huge.
Easy has a window of 60 frames, or 1 second.
Normal is 12 frames, or 1/5 of a second.
Hard is 8 frames, or 2/15 of a second.
Extreme is 4 frames, of 1/15 of a second.
If you struggle with doing damage to bosses, wait for Starfall+.
If you struggle with the perfect parry for the trial, lower the difficulty.
Also, it may say it's perfect parry with The End, but you can hold it like a normal parry.

This is a great Sonic channel.
I didn't get this game until recently for Xmas and all I can say is I loved it. The music was banging and I can't get it out of my head. The whole game was awesome and was a huge love letter to all sonic fans. The pinball surprised me bc I was not expecting it, and the boss fights were so much fun to do. I loved playing this game and if they make a sequel I hope it's in this format

24:35 Thier's actually a trick you can do with the spin dash. There's a little climbing puzzle near that tower where you slam down on buttons to create a path upwards. Go upwards and on top of that puzzle structure you can spin dash off of it to skip the first rail and floaty sections. It might help to mess with your deceleration settings so you retain more of your momentum, but this trick really helped me in skipping the annoying first part of the tower.
I can't believe that this game is like the best Sonic game in history.

As someone who completed this update on switch, the third tower had the game running at a very low fps. And the final section was mind numbingly hard, especially with the joycons.
I love how this update gave us both Super Sonic 2 for the fight AND Super Sonic 3 for the final cutscene
I teared up a bit when Robotnik called Sage his Dear Daughter. I'm a sucker for things like these.
I was bummed out about how Sage ended up disappearing at the end of the campaign. I'm so glad we got to see them together again. Here's to hoping that they show up again in the future
Also, like you said, Robotnik and Sonic teaming up will always be a highlight for me, and I absolutely love the soundtrack for this game, especially the vocal tracks.

Does the game ever require you use it to progress in the main game? Like there are light dash trails but I don't recall them being required.
@Liam-vb3xo they aren't required, but there are many points where they make a challenge way easier. Like that one point on the first tower climb or in certain cyberspace levels. Choc was scaling the tower and fell while trying to reach the launch ring where a single Ring Dash would let him reach it without needing to risk falling all the way down with a missed jump.
