Whisky.com reviews the Ardbeg Heavy Vapours Limited Edition. Ardbeg Heavy Vapours is the bottling for the Islay Music and Malt Festival 2023. For the first time in the distillery's history, it was distilled without a purifier. This filter above the still is crucial for the balance between smoke flavours and floral fruitiness. The label and design are part of the distillery's science fiction novel, which was already created last year by top-class graphic designers and artists.

All bourbon aged. Just got my hands on a 50.2% version. It's a great dram for sure, definitely a sizable difference between this and any of their other releases. Has the vegetal character of Correyvrecken, but maybe not the body (could be partially due to the proof difference). It's expensive but worth a try. Would be nice if they made it a regular release, it's a really unique product.

It's like a lower proof dirtier heavier Corry. The smoke is definitely different. But after having both, especially after water it's dead on Corry but funky.

    Fun to watch your reactions!
The vapours are certainly a nice experiment. And it is one for the geeks. Guess this is not for the beginner, but rather an educational experience for someone who knows a bit about Whisky, I guess.

Theres two different bottles of the heavy vapors, one is 50% and the other is 46%. The lower comes in a cool box, the other is just the bottle, I bought both and am on the hunt for a couple more.

Typical reaction to many an Ardbeg: "It's OTT but I like it", at 7:05

I'd agree with the Talisker. No peat, I'd recommend glenfiddich 12. Very nice one to start with.

Glenfiddich 12 is the go-to starter, definitely.

I would suggest Glenfidrich 12, Glenmorangie 10, Glenlivet, Arran 10.
