Very interesting presentation - but I would like to learn more about the most compact in the D (depth dimension) - the ones that you would like to put in front of your laptop without pushing it too further from your eyes and hands. most keyboards mentioned are related to the W (width) dimension which is important for the number of keys portability but less important if you are editing on a laptop.
They’re all compromised in some way from my experience the most important thing overall is the number of keys. They are keyboards at the end of the day and having just a couple of octaves to play with is very limiting and frustrating.
Great video. It's good to see some love for the Nektar keyboard. One thing, though - the Impact LX25+ is not exactly small and definitely won't fit in a normal-size backpack. It's nearly 19 inches long, and shares depth and widtth with two larger controllers in the same line, the LX49+ and LX61+. Still, it has full-size keys and tons of controls (its pad learn feature is VERY nice), and I recommend it to anyone who needs a 25-key controller (I owned it and I currently use the LX88+).
Agree completely. I bought this but I use Ableton. It needs a special script. It's workable but set up is not straightforward. I just like the look and feel of it so I bought it.
Hey, great video! I've actually a small recommendation on a next keyboard review; McGrey Sp-100. It's a very peculiar one as there is literally nothing on the internet that reviews it. It's an 88-keyed digital stage piano with hammer actions. I bought it for around 305$ (or a lesser number with pounds) and it sounds strange. With the sustain feature turned on, when I play a chord with 8 fingers, it all weirdly cancels out and glitches out. When I play with my fingers, sometimes the notes are louder than supposed to be, especially on fast fingering. Please take a look at it, it is sold on ebay or whatever site it's also on.
What do you think, which Keyboard had the best feeling to the drum pads also in the Sense of velocity. Btw one of the best Videos i have Seen so far, great Job!!
As a gear nerd but guitarist, I'm still wrapping my head around a few things. If you want to play with an arpeggiator, do you need the midi keyboard to have that feature as a controller, the thing you're controlling (eg a synth plugin) or is a bit of a mixture of both? For instance, I've got an IK Multimedia Uno and a Korg Volca Keys and the IK has an arpeggiator but the Volca doen't. I know that I can send midi from the IK to the Volca and then get arpeggois which is awesome. But I have to spend a 3 weeks in hospital every 3 months and I wanna be able to not use those annoying little keys on the IK and the Volca and would like more of an octave range
Ended up ordering the Novatronic Launchkey M3 I was hung up on the Akai mpk m2 but really didnt like the 6v non bus powered option.... The launchkey is just a better newer version with extras! Can't wait to pick it up!!!!!
Never owned a small controller before. The 25 and 37 look nice and compact but have seen so many people commenting online that they wish they had more keys. What's the way to go if you want more keys (49, 61, 73) but still a mini size
Hi Great Video! Thanks! HOW did you get those "auto repeat" or "double hit" notes to sound? Also, how did you trigger the arpeggiator on the KOMPLETE at 11:10?
Hey! I need help! I'm just starting out in music production and i would like to buy a keyboard. I've gone through all of them, watched reviews,... and i'm down to 2 keyboards but i can't chose... I'm hesitating between the AKAI Professional MPK Mini MKII and the Alesis V-Mini. Either i spend a lot more or i buy a cheaper one (one that i can currently afford) and get a more expensive one later when i am more into it. I hope someone can help me!
Thanks for this great video! I just wanna ask a question. If you are feed back to me. I'll be happy. What about Korg Taktile? I wanna buy that keyboard. Thank you
I just need a small keyboard for my desk with a couple of LED endless rotarys and it seems that NI is the only one with that feature but its too big. If anybody knows a good one in the size of the Arturia Keystep and endless LED rotarys please let me know :)
Would the Komplete Kontrol M32 be compatible with the free Kontakt player? I want to use it with Nucleus Orchestral Core, which runs with the free Kontakt player.
Hi ! I bought a nektar impact lx 25 plus and i have a MacBook Pro 13, that one with the thunderbolt 3 (usb c) ports. And i want to know if a need an external powered usb c hub or with an non powered hub it will be fine. Sorry for my bad inglish. Thanks !
Hey I´ve got no idea about Midi keyboards and so on, but I´ve been playing the piano for a couple of years and sometimes when I do a gettogether with friends we jam. Is it somehow possible to play these Midi keyboards without a computer that they are connected to (like can i set it up to have the sounds on it at all times) but instead connecting them right to a box/speaker?
Whatever happened to making real music?? Is that how people get their fill of the senses? By pressing a key and getting weird sounds out of it? You can't even call it music. It's just noise!
@@noahswan6014 - And proud of it, although my 22 year old son and ALL his musician friends say the same thing. It's ok though, it's not your fault if you don't know how to make music for yourself. I think one must have it in one's blood to really appreciate the passion and hard work that goes into making real music. Too bad no one knows how to do it anymore these days 😢 It's embarrassing to call people that can draw ready made sounds out of an electronic gadget "musicians". The real art of music is dead, and musicians aren't made anymore. At least boomers make good musicians (REAL musicians) 😊
Lexxii I’m guessing you’re talking about peactice time, tuning, running around town to find the guy who knows that one chord you don’t and all. In that case I see your point. However, here the process is just different. Less of a hassle on certain aspects and more of a hassle on others. Still I wouldn’t call these producers talentless, nor I would call their music noise seen as how it can still convey emotion, which noise can’t. Take my comment with a pinch of salt (the boomer one). It was meant as more of an annoying overused meme/joke than an actual jab to your self-confidence and age group. Have a nice week!
This is one of the best comparisons I've seen yet. Deserves WAY more views!
Dude I know right, straight up. Wish I would've just watched this first and saved myself days of digging lmao
I wouldn't say so. He praised all of the keyboards and didn't talk about keybed at all which is most important part of midi keyboard

I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR THIS REVIEW😄! I'm getting ready for a 8 month deployment to sea and this video def sold me on the novation launchkey.
How do you like the novation launchkey?
I have the m audio keystation mini 32 the keys aren't bad and it's a great starters midi keyboard for nubes that don't know what midi is.
that music played on the arturia sounded great
But can I beat Dark Souls with it ??
After finishing DS on bananas (google it!), you can try a 25-key midi controller, yes.

Excellent review. Every second counts, no time wasted! Thinking of a Novation for use with Ableton. Any comments?

Thx bro just ordered the akai lpk25
Thank you!!! Now I know what I need to make VRroyale3 music!
That launchkey mini has my name all over it
That M-Audio Keystation 49 looks identical to my Alesis Q49.
Great vid!
Its the Nektar impact LX25 for the win!!
Thanks for helping me decide!!
I keep hearing that the keys are a bit noisy and a bit plastic/cheap?
How do you like it so far? I'm planning on getting one

Thanks you!
So which is the best if I wanna make new wave techno Depeche Mode style music on reaper, but also be versatile enough to make and program metal drums
Late response but probably the launchkey mini
best reviewer, with demo every device

I bet the auto repeat was a step sequencer in the vsti used.
How about a keyboard that plays notes and simply has dedicated up down buttons to change the midi channel and a screen that shows the midi channel?

is there any difference to use these controllers in windows or os?
is the axiom 25 still relevant? i need something with midi out to control a volca.
I have a question but as I can’t see any responses to previous, I don’t see the point in asking.

So All of these midi keyboards work with any music software??
Is the Arturia MkII plug and play or do you need software? The reason I ask is bc I am thinking about getting this or the MPK Mini
It's midi, isn't the whole point that it needs software? It's not real audio just electrical signals.

Bro when he used the first midi keyboard it sounded like something STS9 would make
What do you think is the best of these that has both usb and midi out output ?
None
What synth sounds are these?

Sounds like a 303 clone.
arpeggios

7:49 when your computer turns on
I'm confused, can somebody tell me what cable do I need to be able to connect these to my Scarlett interface?
You plug it directly to your pc or mac. The interface is for recording with mic or other instrument via xlr or jack.
