The inception is amazing! I have the C,A and the inception and the A has started to slow down I’ve had it for 2 years now. I’ve had the inception for 1 and I’ve put it through hell and back and it’s been absolutely awesome! The C blows them both out of the water. The value you get from the inception is amazing.
Awesome bro. Just ordered mine on Amazon. It’s half off right now for $100! I couldn’t pass it up. Of course you know a new rod has to follow now... lol
How is it for you? I'm thinking about buying one for myself (I'm in bass fishing tournaments) I'm stuck between this, the shimono curado, and the daiwa Tatula! What do you think about the Concept z reel so far?
I use mine for froggin as well, paired with 6th Sense Lux extra heavy. I’ve used it a lot all season and I’m impressed with this reel. Got it for 100$ on Amazon and it blows my Revo X out of the water at about the same price.
I only fish w daiwa zillions and steez, but I literally just got a concept A 2 weeks ago from fisherman’s warehouse and a phenix feather H7’7, and I was having a hell of a time catching Stripers off the rocks using swimbaits! I just received my first Concept Z and I can’t wait to use it! I like the concept A more than my zillions lol no joke! For the price it’s shitting on most high end reels
13 made a mistake by choosing to market the Z as a long distance casting reel for the bass market. It was originally meant for inshore anglers with it's corrosion resistance and in my opinion it is the best use of this reel. There are cheaper or similarly priced reels that will perform on par with the Z for bass fishing, but if you do any salt water fishing the Z is the way to go
I have all the origins. A,c, and tx just got them bc they were cheap. They are all hyped up, no they’re not bad reels but they aren’t what people make it out to be. But the design they got on they’re reels are great looking. Love that blue on my origin tx. Still gotta say, shimono all day and night!!
Ive got one and it is a good reel for 200. Its not mind blowing, but for 200 dollar's ur paying for what u getting. Is there better 200 dollar reels out there i bet there is, but it's all on ur own taste, like anything in life. I'm just glad as a consumer we have a lot of options as fisherman to indulge in😊. Great review🖒🖒👊
I have had many different reels over the years and I use mostly Shimano reels but their prices are turning me off. I am going to order a "Z" reel based on your opinion, and years ago the Shimano Curado used to be fire engine red and I had two but lost one in about 90' of water at a Texas lake. Good Luck and God Bless
Just wanted to say that the video I watched with you promoting "Fishing Care Package" back in early December 2017 where you had a "promo code" ...I am still waiting for the 2 packages I ordered. No response from the company...Thanks for the bullshit I am going through ..HOOAH !!!
There's tons of videos on UA-cam about that company fucking tons of people, taking their money and never sending them their order. Sorry but you should just contact your CC company or bank and get your money back.
Couple years late on the video but man I know exactly where you're at. I spent 8 years fishing all the ponds at good old Fort Stewart. I don't remember pond numbers anymore but I believe it was 31 I use to tear up the bass 10 years ago.
I'm Guessing no one ever thought about what the concept z was built for...... Saltwater fishing on the gulf coast. Am i the only one who can see people are comparing apples to oranges. sure you can use a freshwater reel in salt water but at what cost. How long will it last with the proper care ? Some people like ford, some chevy/GMC, some like dodge, but in the end they are all truck brands and they all do the same thing some a little than others but the same thing.
The thing about new “cheaper” bait caster reels are that they all feel nice and smooth out of the box. After a few outings, they’re not as good anymore.
LeafVillage UchihaClan I had a Concept A for 2 months until it crapped out on me. Levelwind would get stuck 90% of the time and the gears were very noisy and rough
Lex Cooper I have the concept C and it is amazing. Still nice and smooth like it was out of the box. I’m going to get the Z in a couple days. Honestly, this guy is the first guy I see on UA-cam to give a bad opinion on it.
It all depends. I got an original Lew’s carbonfire and it still is going strong. Had it 2 years and didn’t treat it with care. Just got it cleaned for the first time and it still works great. I paid $60 for it.
LeafVillage UchihaClan not always I have a shamanic ceanan they are a hundred bucks and I have see it for five years and the drag went out and that’s the only problem I had and I got a bearing put in it
Has distance going to have to try the Concept Z for quite a bit of lure and bait applications for myself to see if it cuts it for me awesome video now I’m going to have to save and pic one up to see what all the hype is all about
I already have an opinion on this reel on another channel and it deals with this co polymer bushing idea that is actually 20+ years old. Other than that great review. Only thing I would say is sub 200 reels are not cheap reels. I have a Quantum Energy still going strong and it is in the range of 20 years old. And was sub 200.
It’s kinda funny how my 60$ kastking crixus has the same features and then some and also feels just as quality I have a fate green concept z and then the little crixus as a cheap reel that I can beat up but dang I can’t tell the difference both of them are well cleaned and I’d say both are equal in performance
I picked up the z at a fishing store and it felt smooth but it was a little noisy. My Lews tournament mbs and Abu revo sx blows these out of the water. I've had some for 4 years no problems....10 bearings on all and the revo has 24 lbs of drag...
Nice Vid! I got a 13 Fishing Origin C and put it on the Lews TP-1 Speed Stick for Christmas. It is really smooth and I can't wait to catch some hogs on it this year!
Great video. I actually held a Lews Tournament Laser Speed bait caster and the Z today. The Lews felt so much better. I have bigger than average hands. I can palm a basketball, so maybe that is why I preferred the bigger Lews. The Z is pretty small in size. After your video I am regretting my purchase. The Z was so smooth and I think I could deal with the size. Any thoughts?
13 Fishing is more of a marketing company than a fishing company. The Z is a good reel but it is not a great reel and it is NOT worth the $200 price tag they were asking for. I'm thinking it hurt the company overall with the underwhelming reviews most honest people gave the Z. I'd get one on sale but that is it, I'd never pay full price for a 13 product till they got their shit together. I don't like Lew's fan boys but they make a better product and so does Daiwa which is my choice for everything right now. Shimano's new reels can't handle the salt like they used to.
Inception got noisy on me a good month into using it. Doesn’t cast nearly as far as my lews lfs that I’ve had for 2 years. I do have the concept kp and that thing is still amazing a year and a half in
People should stop acting like your reel being smooth makes it a good reel. It should go without saying that a reel is going to be smooth past 100$. It is expected of it. What makes a reel a good reel is it’s smoothness and quietness on the cast, ability to cast a variety of lures, weight, and durability. And the concept z doesn’t have 2 of those. It’s loud and rough on the cast and it doesn’t last. Many reviews have been done and I have personally experienced a loud rattle on the cast a 13 fishing is known for its poor quality gears and paint.
When you say many reviews have been done...What you mean is many sponsored reviews have been done. Then people that got shafted will defend them because they don't want to admit they got hosed and bought a marketing gimic instead of a good reel. Here in south Louisiana marsh fishing...we knew it was garbage 3 months after the BIG release. It NEEDS oil like a cylinder, has bad slop in handle, and sounds like a swarm of Africanized honey bees while casting. But hey it's bright orange and looks cool.
jimbo gasoline yeah I forgot Shimano and diawa sponsored small you tubers to show how loud the reel was on the cast and how it didn’t compare in distance. Can’t believe I missed that. Also speaking of sponsors 13 fishing is know for having trolls go into reviews like and shit talk. Get your facts before coming to the guy that knows them.
I would never spend $200 on a BASS reel. I do bass and musky. the strain and stress that bass and the lures put on reels it's not worth spending that much on them for bass. Just my opinion
I will never understand why would anyone bother with anything but Megabass, Shimano and Daiwa.I mean, if two of these three didn't offered reels from >$100+, price would be a good reason, but that's simply not the case.
Cody Whittenton Lew's really had some nice rods at great prices. People love their reels, but considering you can still pay under $200 for a rod with a lifetime warranty you would think more would have them.
Surge Outdoors it's amazing I love everything about it.... I wish had 10 of them. They are so smooth to have a strong drag and they make bomb cast even with crazy light lures
Fritz Schoch I love the color orange, but I think that’s the sole reason people are buying it, because it’s a fishing “status” symbol. Fishing shouldn’t be about how your gear looks, but how many fish it catches. But I’m not surprised.
its casting the same...with the tension knob cranked down. turn all brakes off, hold the pole at 45* and let the bait drop, reduice the tension knob til the bait hits the ground without overspooling, Its set for that bait, leave it alone, now go adjust your magnetics and compare the dang reels. Its insane when people think they can do one review, and miss one tiniest detail and think there is any value i the work theyve done. waste of time.
13 fishing people crack me up 1st of all $200 is not in the high end range. You want a real quality reel for a budget Shimano casitas will blow both this fishing 13 reels out the water. The concept z is all hype an has the most basic old school brake system on the market. My buddy got 1 an I will give you that it is a smooth reel but that is it, my buddy posted it on ebay for 150 if anyone Is intrested
No way in hell a 13 Concept Z compares to a Daiwa Zillion SV. Maybe long distance casting, but hell a Wal-Mart Abu Black Max will long bomb heavy lures. It comes down to build quality for me, 13 has a ways to go in that department, or should I say Banax has a way to go???
Complete market hype and bull. The fishing equipment market is overloaded with market hype and nonsense. Fishing reels ALL used bushings in the beginning. It’s not a new idea nor is it revolutionary. Search for Shimano Brush buster bait cast flipping reel made back in the 80s and you will see a bait caster with bushings. They are also priced way to high at $200 for the concept z because bushings of any type, polymer or metal, are cheaper than equivalent radial ball bearings so why not pass the savings on to the consumer? Why does it still cost $200 for old school technology? As for the casting distance claim. Let’s be honest again. This is a tricky thing to even measure and still compensate for all the variables. A better test would be to get two concept Z reels, one with bearings and one with bushings to compare. In any event its very possible that a reel with bushings will outcast a reel with bearings when they are both new and this has to do with vibration and cavitation of the parts and how close the tolerances of the fit to the shaft of the bearings are but I can assure you that the bushing reel WILL NOT MAINTAIN PERFORMANCE OVER TIME. As the bushings begin to wear under a load things go south very quickly. Bushing wear out like anything else no matter what so called “space age” material they are made from only the wear tends to be exponential(wears faster as the wear continues). As bushings wear out they also wear out the shafts that they ride on that includes polymer bushings on metal shafts. Yes that is correct a plastic bushing can and will wear metal off a metal shaft. Now you can easily replace the bushing but not the shaft it carries and now that the shaft has some wear on it the new bushing will not fit like the new one did. You see where this is going. Bearings wear out as well but they wear in a uniform and predictable way. If you keep bearings clean they should last the lifetime of the reel and when they do wear out they are easy to replace and unless the races have rusted to or seized on the shaft, they do not wear the shafts that ride in them. Another bunch of nonsense I see a lot of talk about is the “free spin” time of a bait casters spool. This all but totally cancels out once you adjust the breaking system for casting so it doesn’t mean anything. Bearings were invented for a reason and replaced bushings in many mechanical applications for a good reason.
Mr Smith I've been saying it, early tech that's suddenly a "must have" conversion. Think more would have already stuck with it. Edit: Had it been worthwhile.
mr. smith.... still have two thirty five year old shimano tr200 reels one bearing one bushing when the bushing was still good they would out cast anything on the market on an 8' ugly stick and spiderwire i don't remember what test lol . i'm old and a 4 oz torpedo sinker . oh i took off the levelwind on both that set up would cast a long friggin ways . i would pendulum cast just the sinker for distance . once the bushing started going a small vibration soon turned into a painful howling . great striper reels.oh the good old days when an $ 80.00 reel was tits. before keeping up with the joneses and everyone had to have the newest most expensive reel every year
The inception is amazing! I have the C,A and the inception and the A has started to slow down I’ve had it for 2 years now. I’ve had the inception for 1 and I’ve put it through hell and back and it’s been absolutely awesome! The C blows them both out of the water. The value you get from the inception is amazing.
great review man, I've never used any 13 fishing reels but I'm dying to try one
lojo.fishing don’t waste your time
Just buy shimano..
I bought inception 4months ago and it was a waste of money.. I'm back with my curado and tatulas
13 fishing and Lew's will vibrate so much when you cast it and I hate it..
I would acculy enjoy seeing you with a concept z reel!👍
Awesome bro. Just ordered mine on Amazon. It’s half off right now for $100! I couldn’t pass it up. Of course you know a new rod has to follow now... lol
Thanks for the info LH is $98 too!
Dudefishh TV just got mine ordered to. Hopefully I didn’t make a bad decision. 😬
I don’t think you will. I LOVE it.
How is it for you? I'm thinking about buying one for myself (I'm in bass fishing tournaments) I'm stuck between this, the shimono curado, and the daiwa Tatula! What do you think about the Concept z reel so far?

I just bought a inception for 50 bucks I'd pay double for it
Love 13 fishing products, can't beat them for the price.. I own many but the Origin SE & the concept series are my go too's
Concept z 2nd baitcaster I've ever got and it's my favorite reel I'll have for long time
Great video! I have the concept z awaiting a new rod for this spring. I’m really excited to get out on the water with it. Take care.
I have the concept A
Concept C
And I just got the concept A3
And A3 second generation
Great reels
Concept z with the favorite rods defender with the blue handles is the best combo in my opinion for the concept z
Nice video i like i want dist reel concept z
I have all the origins. A,c, and tx just got them bc they were cheap. They are all hyped up, no they’re not bad reels but they aren’t what people make it out to be. Dino Ververis Thanks ☺👊
I like the Concept A I'm not sold on the Z yet.
gregred78 I totally agree
gregred78 the z is awesome it has held up I've beet the crap out of it I love it I would definitely recommend

There a rip off
Great video! I love the 13 fishing reels and have been thinking of pulling the trigger on a Z.
I just bought the Z. It's cheap on Amazon right now. Can't wait to try it out. Did you ever get yours?

I went straight to the comment section to watch people defend their favorite reel brands at all cost.😂🤣😆
Me too! It's as fun as watching those pansy ass Glock nuts on gun videos. They get butthurt faster than you can say Glock suc.....
Same I looked right when he posted and didn't comment to anyone and then today I just couldn't help myself I had to defend the concept z 😂
Hunter08 z is garbage
Curtis Medina I bet you haven't even Bault it yet and tried it it's actually a really good reel
@@gobybryant1001 your garbage
The thing about new “cheaper” bait caster reels are that they all feel nice and smooth out of the box. After a few outings, they’re not as good anymore.

LxVE Bassin' I’ve got three of the carbon fires and yeah I think they’re great. Can’t complain about them at all
LeafVillage UchihaClan not always I have a shamanic ceanan they are a hundred bucks and I have see it for five years and the drag went out and that’s the only problem I had and I got a bearing put in it
Best reel I have ever bought. Worth every penny.
Has distance going to have to try the Concept Z for quite a bit of lure and bait applications for myself to see if it cuts it for me awesome video now I’m going to have to save and pic one up to see what all the hype is all about
what rod matches up to casting the reel
I already have an opinion on this reel on another channel and it deals with this co polymer bushing idea that is actually 20+ years old. Other than that great review. Only thing I would say is sub 200 reels are not cheap reels. I have a Quantum Energy still going strong and it is in the range of 20 years old. And was sub 200.
Bill Miller I hate quantum reels the one I have sucks

The inception is so underpriced! I got one of those and a laws custom speed spool slap and it blows that 180 reel out the water
Nice Vid! I got a 13 Fishing Origin C and put it on the Lews TP-1 Speed Stick for Christmas. It is really smooth and I can't wait to catch some hogs on it this year!
I have the 100 dollars one I loved casting very well and very good distance
What modification did you make? I don’t see a vid for it
I personally use the Inception for flipping and its really good.
Can we see a curado k vs project z comparison ???
K is better. No need for a comparison.
Check out a channel called “the reel test” he has one, he low key had the 13 folks kinda mad
Yeah I know there is no comparison I just wanna hear what he has to say lol
Doesn't look bad for $120 but i only spent $100 on a lews speed spool and ive had it for 2 years. Still super smooth
Incepection is ok 1 year of owning it side plate start falling off not locking. Paint started to fade up 5/10
Great video.
Nice comparison and video. - Scott.
But have you ever thrown a Zebco 808 with omniflex 😎
Erik Tilson I like your style lol!
Omniflex is the juice👌🏻
i remember the zebco 33 days 😂
Lol that’s all my pops! 😂
Now that throws bombs
13 Fishing is more of a marketing company than a fishing company. The Z is a good reel but it is not a great reel and it is NOT worth the $200 price tag they were asking for. I'm thinking it hurt the company overall with the underwhelming reviews most honest people gave the Z. I don't like Lew's fan boys but they make a better product and so does Daiwa which is my choice for everything right now. Shimano's new reels can't handle the salt like they used to.
Why 6lb test? I'd never use 6lb test on a baitcaster. Or did I miss something?
I heard 14 lb once you pulled the Z out. Ignore my first comment
It was $6 I mean 14lb test!
Good rod choice! I have a ton of TP1s!
I run the inception on the TP1 and love it
Catalina fishing with the inception all day baby to calico bass to Yellowtail 😄
Yesssssss I’ve been waiting!!!!
One comment is the inception SZ has a matt finish for the paint and it gets way more dirty way faster
What does the internet think of the Pflueger President XT Casting reel? Hit me with your opinions.
At the moment the z is on sale for 120 and the inception is on sale for 80 which would you get
Inception got noisy on me a good month into using it. Doesn’t cast nearly as far as my lews lfs that I’ve had for 2 years. I do have the concept kp and that thing is still amazing a year and a half in
ChatTer Bassin' weird. I’ve had my inception for a year and it hasn’t slowed down one bit. It’s awesome.
It can't hold much line.. what happen if it hooks up a big fish
You should be able to reel it in because the concept z reel has 22 pounds of drag! To put it into prospective, the Penn 309 has 15 pounds of drag!😉👍
whats a great line to use on a reel like that?
People should stop acting like your reel being smooth makes it a good reel. It should go without saying that a reel is going to be smooth past 100$. It is expected of it. What makes a reel a good reel is it’s smoothness and quietness on the cast, ability to cast a variety of lures, weight, and durability. And the concept z doesn’t have 2 of those. caden kea Did you read the comment dumbass. READ CAREFULLY.
jimbo gasoline oh shit lmao I’ve been around to many 13 fishing nuts
I would never spend $200 on a BASS reel. I do bass and musky. the strain and stress that bass and the lures put on reels it's not worth spending that much on them for bass. Just my opinion
What? Fort Stewart. Just up the road man. Jesup. You just got a new sub.
Yeah I was like damn Stewart. Heck I love here too
Concept z and inception ...which is the best performance
I subscribed because you’re the only other SM that has fishing videos. Nice vid, brother. If you’re ever TDY to Hood, send me a msg.
I will never understand why would anyone bother with anything but Megabass, Shimano and Daiwa.I mean, if two of these three didn't offered reels from >$100+, price would be a good reason, but that's simply not the case.
Come back in 5 years when the Z still casts like new.
Great video!! I live in Savannah!! I need to fish Ft. Stewart!!
Jeff Fehner it’s worth it. Monsters live in fort Stewart.
I'm down in waycross ga looks like I need to head up there to fish too. Landed a 7.29lb largemouth on the origin tx last weekend. Smooth reel
What is the name of the rod you were using? Thanks
great man thanks
No matter how hard I try I just can't get into 13 fishing reels. I wil stick with my Abu's and Shimano's.
Nice review, I've been wondering how that concept z compared with others in the same price range.
Hey dude, are you still here at fort stewart. Im stationed and im looking for other avid anglers to go fishing with here.
I have the inception paired on that tp1 speed stick
Cody Whittenton Lew's really had some nice rods at great prices. People love their reels, but considering you can still pay under $200 for a rod with a lifetime warranty you would think more would have them.
Where are you putting your lure on that reel? I threw a bladed bait on my Z and it is crazy how amazing that reel is
TEAM RACKIT how’s it holding up ?
Surge Outdoors it's amazing I love everything about it.... I wish had 10 of them. They are so smooth to have a strong drag and they make bomb cast even with crazy light lures
Seriously the only reason I’d buy a 13 casting reel is to jig. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good FISHING reel, not good for casting
whats yur rod bro ?
Just got one black friday for $100 couldn’t pass
Is that pineview? I'm stationed at Stewart also.
Can you do the 13 fishing tx?
Try the shimano Antares dc I personally like it better then the concept c
Which pond on Stewart is this???
Cue the shimano fan boys, they gonna be thick on this one
Cars and Outdoors I have a lews shimano and a 13 fishing they are all pretty much the same besides spool size and gear ratio 👍
Ft. Stewart Ga.---Caught my PB (12.2) there in the fall of 1999 on Metz Lake---Retired from Stewart in Dec 2001---Hoooah!!!
The z is medium end gear and the inception is low end
This is wild lol fort stuart is were my girls from😂 we should fish sometime brotha
3RD ID👍🏼
Or you could get a Curado for $189 max and call it a day
for sure way to go. Curado k all the way
I saw another video that was the Curado K vs. the Z, and the Curado was chosen as the better reel.
Performance aside, the other advantage the Curado gives you is not having that orange monstrosity attached to your rod.
Fritz Schoch I love the color orange, but I think that’s the sole reason people are buying it, because it’s a fishing “status” symbol. Fishing shouldn’t be about how your gear looks, but how many fish it catches. But I’m not surprised.
i've been buying curado k's off ebay for $141 free shipping , americanlegacyfishing is the seller.
Just so you guys know I found the concept z on Amazon for 99 bucks. Brand new. Check em out before they're gone.
What this is Rod?
have you fished the atamahal
you could skip one step in the cast with a left sidelever.
They have a big deal going o.n rn and the concept z is 130 bucks rn imma take that up
Those holes are far water to be able to drain not for lube
The whole point is that it’s fresh and salt water
its casting the same...with the tension knob cranked down. turn all brakes off, hold the pole at 45* and let the bait drop, reduice the tension knob til the bait hits the ground without overspooling, Its set for that bait, leave it alone, now go adjust your magnetics and compare the dang reels. Its insane when people think they can do one review, and miss one tiniest detail and think there is any value i the work theyve done. waste of time.
Why do you pair it with a lews?
MI ReelAddiction Because Lew's makes good rods.
Ounces The Bass Snatcher
I have yet to try any Lews Rods but I do like the reels
I’ll have to check them out some time.
No bro never wasted my money on a fishing 13 but have on a Abu witch lasted me only 6 months being I fish 5 days a week.....
Definitely not a high end reel. Not even close. BPS pro qualifier is better and you can get it for 60 bucks.
Steven Kurth I agree the shimano casitas is cheaper but is better than both those reels shimano is the best
Casitas to me cast way better then the tranx it’s such a great reel and cheap
I'll buy t got a link?
Bushings are not bearings, and a bushings lifespan isn't nearly as long as a ball bearing.
Quanto q é o preço dessa carretilha
This reel gets horrible reviews. Get a Casitas and have the best reel for under $100.
I use it for saltwater inshore. I think that's what it's built for.
concept z>lews>curado
Ah Bryan commons???
U need to get the new LEWS custom inshore. Amazing reel. The Z is junk
Zero Ball Bearings
Edit: Had it been worthwhile.
mr. smith.... still have two thirty five year old shimano tr200 reels one bearing one bushing when the bushing was still good they would out cast anything on the market on an 8' ugly stick and spiderwire i don't remember what test lol . i'm old and a 4 oz torpedo sinker . oh i took off the levelwind on both that set up would cast a long friggin ways . i would pendulum cast just the sinker for distance . once the bushing started going a small vibration soon turned into a painful howling . great striper reels.oh the good old days when an $ 80.00 reel was tits. before keeping up with the joneses and everyone had to have the newest most expensive reel every year
Mr Smith have you even used a concept z?
Curado dc
Lews guys don't care lol
