It felt like a way to teach kids to check on their emotional well-being. Branch sings again but also stays true to his less sparkle ways. That felt important.

He is the Executive Music Producer and he is the one who hand picked the celebs to be in the ensemble who could sing well. Also, this was my fav animated movie UNTIL Sing came out! It is amazing

I would love someone who is deeply engulfed in musical performance to just teach Gerrick about musical theater. Every time he talks about musical theater it makes me sad because the way he characterizes it is just so false and it hurts. Musical theater is at the cross-section of every art form. It features acting, dancing, singing, instrumentation, visual art, and so much more. It tells a story in a way that is meant to be more poetic. You don't stop time to sing, you stop time to express emotions you couldn't express through just talking. You allow the audience to know exactly what you're feeling. Also, a lot of musical theater songs don't stall the story and freeze time, a lot drive the plot through song. I don't think Gerrick has to like musicals because I get it, we're obnoxious, but the way he characterizes them makes me as a theater actress hurt inside

Freaking love Trolls!!! I'm 34 and it just takes you back to feeling like a happy little kid singing along and dancing in your seat. It's just so fun. Oh and then I got to go with my 2 year old cousin to watch Trolls LIVE and I had so much fun singing and dancing with him and watching the live action trolls dance too, it was so cool. I was gonna eat an edible before the show started because I thought it wouldn't be as good as the movie, but OMG it was so great. I think I was like the only adult who really enjoyed it. But it was so fun, I'd totally go if they did a live for the second movie too.
I felt like eating trolls was more a metaphor for capitalism: desperately trying to get something because you think it will make you happy, even if it hurts others, and failing to see what you do/can have as it is. I didn't even think that it could be interpreted as anti-meds or anything 😮

If you're going to pay a team of people to basically create environments and characters from scratch, you have to make sure it's for a good reason (like moving the plot forward). So every little detail has to be planned out from the beginning. Live-action can probably afford to be more indulgent in comparison.
I suspect people say Anna Kendrick isn't nice because has a bit of Resting Bitch Face so unless she's being actively happy she looks like she's scowling. People decide women are rude or bitchy pretty quick if they don't automatically have a giant smile on their face 😕

Listen I think we can all agree no cover of a Beatles song will ever beat an original. However to have such disdain for Across the Universe makes me so sad! The songs ARE good, they don’t have to be better than originals to still be good. The cast was top notch and the cinematography was absolutely gorgeous. Plus it touched on a topic that was relevant at the time of the Beatles height of popularity, the war, immigration, police brutality. Paul McCartney even liked the movie.
The way that they flipped the harmony with the melody in "Because" always gets me. I love that movie so much. "I've Just Seen a Face" is visually stunning and the fact that they all sang on site in addition to prerecorded vocals? I disagree. I think they very much need to do an episode on "Across the Universe"

Unlike Zootopia which made a believable world for animals of all sizes, Sing just takes place in a regular city with nothing sized for smaller animals. A mouse drives a normal-size car, I don't know why it bothers me so much, but I still enjoy the movie and would love to see an episode on it.
