So I’m a seller and buyer on JAWA. I live in the path of storms that plagued the upstate of South Carolina and Western North Carolina a few months ago. I forgot to pause my listings and ended up having a sell during the blackout period after the storm. I reached out to Jawa and the customer and told them that my local post offices and UPS stores were not open and I needed time to be able to go south to mail the gpu. Well Jawa totally had my back with it and even offered to handle the customer if I needed it. The customer was very understanding and I was able to get things shipped out with minor delays with no penalty to my account.
I remember this! (I'm Ryan from Support) - hope you are doing ok as I know how hard NC got hit.
Wow, that is absolutely great of them to work with you. disasters like that are just absolute chaos.
@@deathetech3070 Ryan, you sir are the goat.
Great to hear. I've always sold on ebay but plan to try out Jawa in the future.
@@deathetech3070 you were awesome, bud! Thanks for your help during such a wild time. We are back to “normal” now. Insurance are buttholes but other than that we are good.
That was my memory kit Jay. Glad to see you got it quick as it came from the East Coast. I offer a 30 warranty / refund on all parts on my store page. Some other sellers also do this.
how you know for sure?
@@groenevinger3893he can see his info….

@@groenevinger3893 not op, but the way it was packaged, as well as how close it is of a shot, you can see serial numbers, and if its someone who offers a warranty on products, they probably record the serial numbers for validation purposes

8:03- it is not crooked, just the label is applied at the angle.
Maybe he needs glasses for christmas. Looks nerdy AF.
this is true. its the sticker label that is not square with the cover.
Yep I noticed that, the sticker was the only thing crooked.
I hear a reseller business named Jawa, and all I can think of is a bunch of Jawas from Star Wars selling stolen droid parts.
With that motherboard socket... it looked like the sticker is crooked on the socket cover
I wonder if that was the intention 🤔
@@Celician83 Of course!
Not sure, but I think that's where they got the name from....
Jawa was also a Czech motorcycle manufacturer.

As a Canadian, I've never in my 32 years ever heard any other Canadian say "issew"
Same
Same haha that was news to me hahaha
Living in Minnesota almost 50 years. I've never heard a Canadian NOT say it that way.
Apparently Canada is now some weird part of England where they say isseeew
I assume it is the same as that mythical aboot.
I can assure you us Canadians DO NOT say issue like that, what the heck 😂
joey cold cuts does. I think that generalizing either way does a disservice to the accents within any country.
agreed
Yeah, I've never heard that in my life lol
Pretty sure it's a English thing. Definitely haven't heard it here before.
What you on aboot eh?
I recently purchased a used pc from jawa, it was listed as a 12gb 3080 along with some other misinformation, I recieved a very different pc. After hassling with the seller for almost a month, jawa stepped in and made it right by me with a very generous, not necessary partial refund, which allowed me to make some changes and it runs like a dream and what I wanted, I would recommend jawa to anyone! They stood by me even when they weren't obligated to do so!
What you mean they weren't obligated? They sold you the wrong thing...
@zwenkwiel816 it sounds like they were sold to by a third party seller. I do still think Jawa terms include buyer (and seller) protection though.
I think maybe one of the solutions to the problem might be to have a system where if you're buying multiple components for a build and are unable to test them independently, on the buyer's side they should offer a "this part requires other ordered parts to test" check box that gives you an extended window (maybe like 7-10 days rather than 2, for example), and on the seller's side they can check a box to say whether they want to offer that extended window (that way, sellers just looking to sell 1 GPU and need the money ASAP aren't stuck waiting, but smaller businesses or otherwise anyone who can afford to wait can offer it). Obviously there will still be fringe cases where things will go wrong, but it offers a bit more breathing room
I really love that idea
I was intrigued from the first video and ended up purchasing a 512gb Steamdeck that came with the dock for $375 + shipping. Seller was great, efficient, communicative, and the over all process was a pleasure. Item arrived in great working order, full tested no issues, I would recommend for anyone who has an idea what they're looking for and can spot the good deals.
The return window needs to be based on order, so if you are ordering more than one part at the same time, they need to have a linked code/order number. When the last part of this join order gets to you that you paid for at same time, your test and return window starts one day the last part get to you.
Or 10 days would be good. About a Week to have max time between fastest and longest shipping and 3 days to test out or fine maybe 2 🗣️
That presumes you have other systems/parts to test them on. And if you're assembling an entire system, you may not immediately know which part is bad.
I agree this seems like the simplest fix for this situation.
As a Canadian I can assure you we do not say issue like you mentioned LOL we say it just as you say it as an American. But what we don't say is Roof as Ruff :P :P
Agreed. Also we say windshield and not the incorrect term windscreen.
I thought he was Canadian. Lot of techtubers from there for some reason.
get oota here. =)
I got a Ryzen 5700x3d and a Radeon 7900xt back in July 2024 and saved $190 over buying new and both parts work great. I also purchased a 2060 super, Ryzen 5 3600, Msi b450 tomahawk max, and a 32gb 3600 cl16 kit to build a budget pc for my sister and all her parts worked out fine. Been about 2 months since I built it for her. I love Jawa but I have seen 1 person get burned on it.
You cant really get "burned" if you actually read the descriptions. You can return items that are not as advertised. Evidently the person you know that got "burned" didn't check out the hardware within the allowed time frame for returns.
$190 saving for those parts second hand is an absolute rip off! You got scammed mate!
@@XuroX. As Jay said if you are buying all parts from Jawa and the delivery dates are spread out over a week you can't really test parts if you are waiting on others to still show up. So yes you can get burned as Jay stated within both this video and the first video
@@Montisaquadeis even if everything would be delivered on same day, if one of the components wouldn’t work, you probably don’t have any spare parts to test which one is faulty.
@@SpyderTracksmy apologies on how I wrote my post. I meant that I paid 130 for my 5700x3d and 580 for my 7900xt so those 2 components savings was 190 compared to new parts. I have no idea how much money I saved on my sisters build. Sorry about the confusion.

Yeah, just tilt the motherboard, and the sticker will be fine.
My ocd is kicking in 💅. 9/10 they don't have ocd

Even if you got all your parts at the same time and you are installing a new for you system and after assembly you have a system that does NOT work. Most people would not have the deep parts inventory you have to test individual parts in different system to see where the issue is. Is it the CPU, power supply or a defective motherboard? No graphic display would mean testing the GPU in another system. Possibly a friend's PC/ Troubleshooting and isolating what to return because it is DOA could be troublesome within that 48 hours. Most of us could not take that chance. That is with everything arriving at the same time and you having only 48 hours window to ask for a refund from the correct seller. If the Motherboard did not work and that was the culprit why you couldn't get it to boot, it is not the fault of the guy who sold you the GPU or the RAM.
They need to adjust that short window. Maybe to start from the moment the last item arrives.
"They need to adjust that short window. Maybe to start from the moment the last item arrives." - seems unfair that an individual seller is being punished because you decided to buy 25 different parts from other sellers and have to check all of it running TOGETHER rather than checking one item at a time! That's a "you" problem, not sellers problem!
Life unfortunately does not work like this. If you don't have the means to test the items, then you'll just have to shop at a retail store with a longer return policy. Other people should not have to wait on their money. I'm sure you could reach out to the seller and explain the situation and get it extended, but their money shouldn't be withheld because of something outside their control.
@@caseyattemps I can testify bougth 13900k on ddr5 motherboard barely worked, bought a cheap ddr4 motherboard and reused my old ram worked better then started having prroblems blamed motherboard then gpu scared me O_O then ram then the games and it's only when the "not enough graphic memory" error was identified as the cpu that I knew where 12 months of problems came from, same pc but amd cpu and motherboard no crashes and most games just work, it took intel leaks to identify a problem that could have come from everything else, it was a worst case scenario but yeah pc parts rely on everything else working properly if you swap 1 component you know if you build a new pc there's no way to be sure
I agree there needs to be a better way. Seriously, which is the bigger travesty: A seller slightly delayed getting their money from escrow, or a seller getting away with a scam because the short window worked in their favor?
And this doesn't even necessarily apply to buying multiple parts. With online sales like this, you have no control over when the part arrives. If you order one part, but it still takes nearly a week after receiving it to find the time to install and then thoroughly test it (running a single benchmark isn't an all inclusive sign of health), you are out of the return window if you find a problem.
Jay saying its not great to get thermal paste in the socket just makes me immediately think of LTTs "Intrusive thoughts" video where they smeared a whole tube of it into the socket and the thing still turned on......not that anybody would recommend doing this on purpose.
After seeing that video I never stress about getting a little paste on ma pins anymore lol. My mind immediately went there as well
Literally same!! I was like “well actually Linus done goofed off and drown a CPU in paste and it was fine even ran cooler it seemed 😂😂😂 … wait I have a PC I can stress test by doing that and leaving it on for weeks to see if it holds up over time 🤔
The context of Jay's statement was that debris could damage pins.
Its still better to avoid it if you can. Linus damaged already dodgy parts so we don't have to. It was quite interesting and I'm sure people commented enough that they could do a follow up. Though the memory was a surprise.
until you fk up and accidentally do it with conductive thermal paste.. ;)
I have had no problems buying on jawa market. However I do agree about the 2 day time limit for problems. I have had times where I personally cannot get to testing a product within that time period. Have been lucky so far nothing has been a problem.
I do think it depends on sellers I don't sell a lot of stuff on ebay but what I do try and keep in touch with a buyer.
Never ordered anything from Japan or from Japanese eBay. You basically get a lifelong friend when you buy something from someone in Japan on eBay.
🤣
I have bought an Artisan mousepad from japan and it even came with a handwritten note in japanese that’s thanking me for a purchase
I have bout a lot of figurines crom japan in ebay, ive received handwritten letters thanking, also some paper figurines (origami), stickers and all sort of great. Details from them
Well imagine your suprise when someone from freakin Antarctica wants your product bad enough to pay triple the price for it.
Of course you're going to put in the extra effort;p
I’ve bought a few lenses from JP and they always come like brand new, even the smell. Usually cheapest listings in used section. No hand written notes though.
I've had that experience on Etsy with the couple of guys I've done business with for some sim racing stuff. 1st time, I experienced that as well. If had any issues they were available to help fix my mistakes. Haha. These guys were in places such as Bulgaria and Belgium. Oh, another in Ireland.
Thanks!
Bought a motherboard, cpu and ram combo on Jawa. Super fast shipping. Seller was really up front and honest about everything that was going on. He kept me up to date every step of the way. Also, it was a pretty decent deal. Probably saved over $100 buying all three used and together.
Is the possibility of not being able to make a warranty claim, or getting a dud really worth the $100 you saved? I'm all for getting a used case and fans, maybe even a mobo.. CPU and GPU though.. nah. I just can't see myself buying a used 4080 to save 100 bucks or something like that
@@definitelyfunatparties13th and 14th gen Intel aside, CPUs are the most reliable computer component you can buy...I have bought 20 or 30 used CPUs and never gotten a DOA....Also for used GPUs, just buy one from a brand that has a transferable warranty...There are several brands thats do this...Why waste extra money if you don't need to! That said, if I was going to buy a high end GPU like 4090/4080S I would probably buy it new because the deals you get on used ones are generally not worth it...
@@brucepreston3927 Sure, they're reliable, but who knows what kind of OC they were pushing, if they were properly cooled, etc. Same with GPUs. Furthest I'd go is probably open box.. pretty decent discount usually for something that is essentially new and for sure will have a warranty.
I sold my 5800x3d 4070 build and was an easy experience. Felt that the expectation from the seller was good. Maybe the buyer was experienced and didn't have any questions, but didn't have the eBay type seller thinking I was tech support or not understanding the limitations of the item they were buying.
I've sold and bought on jawa, I've had nothing but praise for the entire process. The only reason I found them is because ebay screwed my account up even having a perfect record.
What a niche kind of marketplace, over here in Spain, we usually use Wallapop, but not just for PC parts, for anything second hand, I've bought from a Jumbo size Toblerone 2 years ago, to my current car the summer after.
I’ve had a pretty good time with eBay over the years, treat it like Facebook marketplace where if you don’t ask specifically or see proof of it being good/working don’t buy it.
I bought a gaming pc on eBay, dude shipped it without packing materials and then tried blaming me, eBay stepped in and saved the day for me.
Never sell on eBay unless you know what you are doing 4:41
Never had an issue with Ebay making it right for the buyer. I bought a "for parts" motherboard based on photos, thinking I could fix it. The guy shipped me a different MB with totally different issues. Got my refund from Ebay with one email.
Iv had good and bad luck over the years on eBay as a buyer and seller. As a buyer for the must part eBay back you rightly or wrongly. As a seller iv had a water cooled GPU reterned for overheating the buyer didn't have a water cooled pc.2 or 3 CPU reterned for not working all worked. An old camera lens that only worked with old camera all the info was in the listing the buyer its not working i get error i tell them its not compatible he tried to retern it as not work some how eBay sided with me on that one. What i have found is most sellers are ok if you use a bit of common sense and are nice. buyer its pot luck.
I sold a few extra PC parts (Motherboard, RAM, CPU, GPU) from a couple years ago (had a small portable build i wasnt using anymore) and had no problems with JAWA. I have never sold used PC parts before. I saw their ad on Linus Tech Tips for scrapyard wars and figured I would give it a shot. Everything went well for me and I will use them in the future. After watching this video, I agree on the 2 day holding on the money needing to be long so that you can test parts. I never thought of it before this video.
The way that eBay does its protection is if they deem that you have to give a refund, they just simply send the refund. Your seller account is deducted from automatically whether you like it or not.
Hi Jay, love your content. I’ve been selling custom builds on Jawa and also buying parts for a while and so far haven’t had any issues, good experience as a seller and buyer.
Displaced metal on the IHS, Jay...scratches is accurate, but since you're in the business of tech and Cents, thought you'd appreciate the more technically correct term.
Thank you for the Jawa review. Hopefully this video encourages me to do business with them. I have used parts just taking up space...
It's used stuff, and from the look of it that's top tier used stuff even with a little dust. The 2 days protection is far better than getting something off craigslist, Facebook market. Id be very happy with this experience.
I ordered an xfx 6900xt off jawa, the seller was super transparent and kept me up to date with all the shipping and everything, Jawa is unique for sure
My only gripe about Jawa, is that they don't require GPU sellers to list whether or not the GPU was used for mining (I've got emails with them about this).
Not everyone babied their money makers, and many saw abuse, which is why I am always cautious now when buying used 20 and 30 series Nvidia GPUs.
If they required that and the seller claimed it was not used for mining, how would you be able to prove it one way or another? You can't, so making them report that is pointless.
Used parts are not for everyone.
hey jay,
i think you did a good job of describing some the downfalls of jawa buyer protections. I personally use the site myself as a builder and sell pcs here and there. One thing i want to point out also as a seller. Jawa takes 9% plus another 3% for platform fees and processing fees from sellers. I had one of my 9800x3d builds pulled because they said the price was too high like you said in the video. But it was literally the cost of the pc plus the 12% Jawa takes nothing scalpe about it but just to break even on the build. Hell, I didn't even charge an assembly fee. i knew they take that money so if i don't increase the list price, i would lose money. I think its kind of unfair to both seller and buyer because 12% of 2,200 is 264 dollars. that's a lot of money at those price points. the buyers paying more for the parts, seller might not breakeven and gotta consider shipping cost also. now I've had succuss selling on jawa also so not sure what to think. thanks for the video
Jay offended Linus with the Canada jokes and then Linus segued to his sponsor.
I wasn't paying attention, what was the sponsor?
I think they need the same option Amazon has, to place an order and set a delivery day for all of the items. Maybe an option to have everything from multiple orders shipped to jawa, then shipped to the buyer in a single delivery? You would have to pay a bit more in shipping but it might make building entire systems more secure.
I've also sold and bought from Jawa and love my experience there. I will always look there first if I'm buying and will only sell my parts there in the future.
Thanks for addressing the conflict of interest concern. I have to respect that you saw the feedback and owned it. Lots of big businesses can learn. from that.
I love Jawa as I have sold and bought numerous items. But keep an eye out on local listings to! I just scored an Evga rtx 3080 10gb for 275 on my local FB marketplace.
I've been contacted by Sellers on eBay when buying items. When I buy new PC parts like server memory the seller reached out to me to be sure what I was buying would work in the x99 motherboard I had. Very happy buying off eBay.
Discuss this with Zachs Tech Turf or whatever ZTT Builds is called on UA-cam. Hes a partial owner and can make changes.
2:47 pretty sure it's "IS-SHOO" regardless of British or American pronunciation
No...
You're correct, we just lazily say it fast, just like realtor and cabinet. People say "reala-ter" and "cab-net"
I've been building computers about as long as Jay has. And I can promise you. Just putting a heatsink with a fan on a bare cpu just for booting is just fine. No weights needed. Many years of doing so tought me that. I repeat. Just for booting.
Nice looking into Jawa Jay, haven't used them but I have heard quite a bit about it. I know some time ago bit wit did the same thing and it turned out fine if I remember correctly. Thanks for sharing!
I have ordered a MB and CPU from JAWA both came in quickly and is still running fine(5 Months) I really like the sellers ,they are so on top of their shipping...
I have only had a positive experience as a buyer on Jawa so far with about 5 purchases made so far. I 100% agree with the window to test being a little small. It would be nice to maybe have an option to request more time with an explanation as to why like in your case you purchased multiple parts with the intent to test them together.
Jay, for the issue with the 48 hour window. In Norway we got a very good used market busniess.
It however uses 24hour window. But the difference is that we decide when to recive the packages/pickup the packages.
This could perhaps be a solution to the problem. Or maybe let people buying from Jawa get the chance to merge the issue window.
Let say you order a system in checkout. Estimated delivery on all is 4th December.
Make 6th December the money release date on all the products.
Most sellers on sites like jawa don't mind waiting a couple days extra.
As long as it gets sold at a fair price.
I just made my first three sales through Jawa. I don't love the sales fee % but it is super easy to use and has all the features I want.
As a Jawa Seller, I really enjoy the more personalized service side of it. I think that return windows should be 7 days, and every seller does have its own return policies to consider on top of it. I've found in my research before deciding to start selling on Jawa, the "real" businesses do have specific return, refund, and repair policies, and your occasional individual seller just uses the default. So if you have some concerns you might have to do a bit more reading, than eBays blanket returns. (Which as a seller, I see it scammed (or attempted) far too often.)
I bought my dell 6800xt on Jawa almost 2 years ago now. Temps are good and it’s perfect for my itx build where it’s slim and short but still a triple fan. Got it for crumbs.
whenever i sell on ebay or jawa i always either put it in the item description how and when i ship or tell the purchaser after they buy it how i ship and once i do get it to the post office i message them again saying the time it was dropped off and then update the page with the tracking number.
I sold my switch lite on jawa 2 weeks ago and sold 2 ryzen processors, and a gpu on ebay. Im not going to sell pc parts on ebay anymore because the % they take off is ridiculous and jawa's is just a little better.
If you joined jawa early before a certain date you get an amazing rate forever, but since i didnt join at that time i get the standard rate that is bordering on ebay's
sold a gpu on ebay for $190, i get $153 of it after paying for shipping ~4.90. The % ebay takes is not what you sold it for its what the buyer paid, taxes included. So ebay is taking a fee off of state taxes as well its such bs and needs to be looked into. Its why most stuff on ebay has ridiculous shipping costs, almost all sellers are trying to recoup losses by jacking up shipping.
Facebook Market Place does the same thing now.
"I sold my switch lite on jawa 2 weeks ago and sold 2 ryzen processors, and a gpu on ebay. Im not going to sell pc parts on ebay anymore because the % they take off is ridiculous and jawa's is just a little better."
What's really bad is that eBay charges the fee based upon the *entire value* of the auction. For example, I sold a computer case for $40 with an additional $20 for shipping. eBay's 15% Final Value Fee is charged upon the entire amount, which means I am being charged 50% more fees due to including the shipping in the calculation. To a degree, I can understand why they do it as I'm sure people would start selling items for 1 cent with $30 shipping to skirt fees if they were based purely upon item cost. Although, the argument against that is that if you order the label through eBay, then eBay knows exactly how much you paid for it and can tell if you're scamming.
(Oh, and I see that you talked about this more near the end of your comment.)
I still do use eBay over things like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace because eBay simply has the wider reach, which is a huge help. I can say that I am usually surprised at how well some things sell on eBay. For example, the aforementioned computer cases? They usually sell within a few days! I listed an older EVGA power supply last night, and it sold before I woke up in the morning. Water cooling stuff also tends to sell well... with the exception of GPU blocks. I could list an old Intel 115x block on eBay, and it'll likely sell within a week, but I can't even sell a 4090 water block let alone a 3080/3090 block. I haven't tried to sell radiators yet, so we'll see how that goes since I'm getting rid of a lot of my extra junk right now.
EDIT:
"whenever i sell on ebay or jawa i always either put it in the item description how and when i ship or tell the purchaser after they buy it how i ship and once i do get it to the post office i message them again saying the time it was dropped off and then update the page with the tracking number. "
I'll usually do this with my auctions and include a photo of the drop-off receipt. I don't always do it though as most people don't really seem to care. I am pretty clear in my auctions about my turn-around time (within one business day) and I'll be upfront if something happened to interfere with that. Albeit, as long as you get an order to me before I leave in the morning, you should get it sent out that day.
That's a myth about the dust lol
I know it’s annoying how people still spout it off as fact.
Since Jawa or other marketplaces could easily calculate the average price listed of an item (i.e. 3090 FE listings and sales in a period of time), that average could be shown to help decide if a particular item is properly priced, like a mint condition item having a premium over the average. They could even triggered a warning to them if someone tries to list an item a certain percentage over the expected price based on that info.
I'd suggest that for components bought to create a system, rather than upgrade or repair an existing system, there should be a checkbox which buyers can select - "This purchase is to form part of a system together with other parts from Jawa". If checked, the two day acceptance testing window does not start until ALL parts of the system have been delivered.
That small change, which would only impact sellers by a few days in almost all cases, would make the system safer for purchasers with little impact on sellers (who may have to wait weeks for a buyer to come along on other selling platforms). Only in the rare case of a problem would the individual purchase list be exposed to human checking, and if the parts are not consistent with them being one system that extension, the individual two day limit could be reapplied. Most of the time it would just keep on working though. Just my idea for solving it.
For me, just a little dirty is a good sign in used parts. It usually means you got a good deal. Clean means you either over paid or got scammed. Also, cleaning can introduce problems and damage the item if you don't know what you are doing. I tend to buy from e-waste recyclers for the best deal, because they will invest very little in labor in checking items, apart from will it power on. (e-bay) Second is charities, there you get volunteers to check items and sell items to raise money, so you will usually get a graded item.
9:50 nice detail I had that happen to me twice too, where the USB 3.0 plastic thing came off. I just mounted it back up and made sure it was straight, still using the last one that did that until now .
Bought a 3060 on Jawa a few days ago, its scheduled to arrive on Saturday the 14th. First purchase on Jawa, but have been hearing about it for a while now. So I needed a new GPU for my capture rig and figured I would give it a shot. Fingers crossed.
Just thought I could share my two years experience with unmounted coolers. I simply place a large cooler (dual tower, single fan) on top of a CPU, no thermal paste, no pressure on. CPUs below 150W TDP have zero issues. I even run GPU benchmarks like that, most CPUs go to a maximum of 60 degrees Celsius. Saves a lot of time. You can do it safely if you have a test bench. Don't try to stress test a CPU like that, obviously.
I don't believe JAWA is as big as eBay and probably isn't financially able to provide the buyer protection eBay does.
I recently bought a motherboard from Jawa knowing it was going to be weeks before I had enough other parts to build a PC to verify that it worked, That's a risk I took and, in my case, I was fine, the PC works like a champ. I can see your point if you are building a complete system (or purchasing the remaining parts for one) from Jawa all at once, but is that the main scenario or are you highlighting an edge case? I would not be surprised if the majority (overwhelming?) of purchasers are buying individual upgrades (new GPU or CPU or MB or something), receive their items and put them to use right away.
I could see starting the clock from the day the final item was delivered (or some such "whole order" milestone) to make it more consistent, but then sellers are having to wait some unknown period of time before getting paid which isn't quite fair to them. One other point to note is that you didn't buy everything you needed for a usable system. You needed your case, PSU, cooler, storage, and peripherals). How long should the sellers wait for you to get everything you need to test the components? Like I said, in my case it was weeks and I certainly wouldn't want anyone waiting that long.
Good, thought provoking video though! Thanks!
As an additional note, the motherboard seller (Kotz) was super! They broke the bundle to allow me to buy just the board, they provided great info on prospective CPUs and, when one went on sale on Amazon, let me know it was available even though he wasn't part of that transaction. A really great experience and great seller.
Wish Jawa was in South Africa. Would be amazing.
You know, it's funny how Jay mentioned how someone would expect delivery from somewhere that is geologically closer than another. And for the most part, that would be true. But I have had instances where I had ordered a few things. Some local and some overseas. And I received the products from overseas much sooner than the local establishments. Who would have guessed?
Jawa also has vetted sellers that they have looked into and are sure that they are on the level. They will also keep the money on hold during a certain time giving the buyer a chance to dispute it.
As a Canadian I can say that no we do NOT say “issue” like that at all. We say it the same way you do.
Canadians fall for comment bait
I want to sell three different motherboards. I'll check out Jawa this time. I can never get those CPU covers stuck down correctly. In the past, I've sold it with the tape holding down the CPU cover. I know I need to find out exactly how to do it, and this time, I will. OMG glad, it wasn't to you. No complaints about that ever on eBay. It makes no sense to offer buyer protection the way you describe it. I'd check if the 48 hours begin at the delivery date. Rob
Thanks Jay, for addressing my comment about the window.
Good on you Jay, thanks for seasing reason on the sponsorship. Now I will watch the video 😄
Sounds like there is an easy safeguard for buyers to make sure they have the 48 hr window on arrival for each part, just order all your parts separately. That way there are seperate transaction tickets or codes for each item.
I find it interesting you just about stated what I typed as a comment on the 1st video when you were buying the parts. The 2-day window to report issues is probably too short & I said at least 4 days would be appropriate. If you're any home builder, you don't have ways to check the parts out until you actually have received them all. I don't have extra MBs or CPUs lying around, so I wait till I get them all to test.
That whole buyer protection spiel also applies if you only buy one component if the buyer doesn't get around to testing it within 48 hours.
Suggestion: Jawa to implement partial receipt for multiple orders, allowing different timelines per product as is required. Partial receipt then = partial payments for each product
LTT tested thermal paste in the socket, and amazingly you can dump an entire tube into it and it'll probably still work; the pressure of the mounting squishes any paste between the pads and pins out.
Hi you can also get some electronic cleaner spray to get the paste off then wait a day for it to dry before using.
I went online the day you showed part 1. Found myself a AMD 5950X, got it in a couple days and worked as it should. The only thing was that it wasnt in the original box nor in a really protected case. It was just in a anti-static bag. Luckily the packaging was really good so the chance of bent pins was very low. Cant complain with my purchase
were you offline when you saw that video? is Jay a TV broadcaster as well?
Jay, perhaps Jawa should provide an option to have all the items shipped together. Like Amazon Day shipping, that way all the parts arrive at the same time and the timer starts at the point of delivery. Just my two cents... ;)
Literally just sold and mailed my RTX 2070 to Jawa this morning. Hope they give the ol’ girl a good home.
8:06 it looks like the sticker not the cover itself is the problem.
21:00 Would it not be better to place several separate orders from multiple sellers instead of one big order from multiple sellers when you need to rely on buyer protection?
Never heard of Jawa. Would you recommend Jawa over Newegg?
In theory Jawa is probably better for used stuff from other people, I'd watch his first video he goes through the buying process and the protections they're supposed to have pretty good. Jawa holds the money until you confirm you received what you paid for, but you only get like 2 or 3 days so you you can't screw the seller saying something doesn't work a week later.
I only buy and sell used stuff in person because I like being able to test everything right then and there.
I got a used 7900xt and a 5700x3d 5 months ago with zero issues on it. Saved $190 on those deals.
Me personally, I prefer Jawa. My 2 seperate Newegg purchases were defective and ended up just buying them new at BestBuy for full price. BUT thats me personally so take it how you wish and good luck on the part search
JAWA (Czech pronunciation: [java]) is a motorcycle and moped manufacturer founded in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1929 by František Janeček,[2] who bought the motorcycle division of Wanderer. The name JAWA was established by concatenating the first letters of Janeček and Wanderer.[3] In the past, especially in the 1950s, JAWA was one of the top motorcycle manufacturers and exported its 350 model to over 120 countries.
Hey Jay and team, I love watching your content and I really appreciate your non-bias view on well, everything. I'm disabled and on disability here in WI. If you ever are trying to donate or reduce inventory, I'd be willing to take anything off your hands so I can donate my old system to my son. I know you probably don't do this kind of thing, but I figured I'd ask. Keep making content so I can learn and stay educated about everything pc. Thanks again!
Some eBay seller do send a "thank you" message for purchasing from them. At least the sellers of vintage camera gear often do that)
I’ve been toying with the idea of purchasing a used GPU, so I can donate my old gaming rig to a needy family. After watching your experience with Jawa, I think I will give them a go.
JAYYYY! love your content, I've been watching you guys since the terry crews build. I sent an email a few months ago about some phones. Did you get it?
You should sell something on jawa, and then buy it with another account and create an issue. With the transaction to see how it goes down.
that might get his accounts banned due to it technically being some kind of fraudulent.
Phil or Nick needs to be the second account for this to work
That's so interesting about the communication via PM. I have had that on ebay, but it's rare. Seems more common practice on JAWA.
PS - That socket cover looked straight with a crooked sticker
To fix the 48hrs. They should do if your order was all placed at the same time your timer should start when the last part of the order shows up. Not 48hrs for when each part shows up. This protects people who buy parts to fully build a pc compared to those maybe buying an upgrade from something they have.
Isn't the keyboard, that's on your second station in which you tested the GPU, a NZXT one too? Also is that a DeepCool (or iBuyPower "branded" DeepCool) CPU tower cooler?
Right now we have the benefit that Jawa is small enough to monitor and ban bad apples, and know its very important to do as the ratio of legitimate sellers has to be kept nearly pristine vs scammers or they quickly will fail. Marketplaces like FB marketplace, etsy, ebay, etc are too big for them to care and instead just pass that work to its customers to do, as its no longer cost effective for them to bother with given the small quantity of bad players vs legitimate sellers.
Sold some RAM on there and had zero issues, buyer received it and no claims were filed. Got my money the same week without issue. I have a PSU with incomplete cable listed now so it’ll be interesting to see what happens there whenever it sells
I've looked at Jawa a few times and most of the times the price of the used part is the same or worse than bran new on amazon. The few times it has been less, the shipping cost brought it back up to the new amazon price or pretty close. I'd rather pay a little more for new from amazon than buy used just to save $10-$20. Then there is the eBay rout. The buyer protection is much better on eBay so that would always be my second choice. Like Jay said, Jawa has a ways to go for buyer protection in my opinion.
I had a dodgy trade where they tried to sell me an R2 unit with a bad motivator. ~~Owen Lars, Tattooine.
Sorry, Jay, you had it coming.
6:12 The last GPU I got from Amazon was shipped without an exterior box. Arrived pretty messed up. They've got a checkbox on the final order page you have to select to get them to send it in a box. I wish I had noticed because if I resell it at some point it did kinda hurt the overall value in situations like this. The marks on that box could have easily not been by the seller. Mine is quite a bit worse.
I always make sure to send an email thanking anyone who buys from ebay or any of my stores and i always try to include a small gift as well. I feel its important to let they buyer you appreciate their business
This does seem quite good! Hopefully some europerson gets inspired to do something similar on this side of the pond. Tho I have seen sites that do similar things with the shipping and buyer protection, like the Dutch website Marktplaats
If you want to feel safe you really don't have to update the BIOS. Just find the setting usually under CPU power management to limit the core voltage and set it to a reasonable number. Even with the bios updates these processors still see a bit too high of voltage imo.
The 1080 I've bought used on eBay is still going strong daily at my friend's house. IMO, the best GPU you can buy today is a used 3080.
I sold my old cpu straight to jawa last month, was a nice smooth process. Ryzen 7 5700x got $85 for it.
I bought a full high end system from a seller on jawa. 9800x3d and 4090. The seller was prompt to respond and i got exactly what was advertised. All in all it was a good experience and I will likely use them again. Only had minor issues with the pc but it was new system growing pains that I easily ironed out
Haven't looked into Jawa but it seems like they run it like Reverb does for musicians. Reverb is a great selling/buying experience.
Bought a Gpu with a water block from Jawa and i haven't had any issues with it since i got it. Been about a full year and half since i gotten it.
Chubby ad Jay was peak cozy vibes😗
I used the gpu buying process to sell jawa my 7900xt to fund my buy for my 7900xtx upgrade. It was a painless process, and they gave me $410 for it even though I didn't have the original packaging. I printed the label they created and sent the gpu off in a box from home and got paid in 2 days.
