Done all the soft reset, the master reset freezers on the continue button. Lost the Fordpass connection as well, just downloaded the update again, going to give it another try.
This was such a great tutorial and it worked well. I was getting so frustrated until I did this step by step. One note, you must reset your phone, aka. shut down and start again.
Thanks for your expertise because I couldn't get the radio to work. It only worked for three stations but couldn't get anything else to play, All I could get was static even when it was searching for stations. I did a resycn to make the radio stations to play again, and now I am able to get my radio stations again. Thanks again.

Thanks…did this, carplay still won’t work with iphone. It’s always been sketch but usually it would start working again after turning truck on/off. Nothing is getting carplay to launch anymore.
Sound stupid but go in to settings then CarPlay then pick your phone and make sure the CarPlay toggle is on. I went couple months like that and was frustrated why CarPlay wouldn’t work, tried different cables and did a master reset until I found I accidentally toggle it off some time lol. Worth looking into it

I have a 2019 mustang GT and I’ve been having to set a destination on my phone on google maps before I plug it in. The whole I’m going down the road I have to plug the usb into the slot first and then my phone for CarPlay to work. I think this will solve my issues. 👍

What is the issue you are experiencing that is causing you to master reset? Also, is the car under warranty? If it is under warranty and issue is easy to replicate then I would take it to the dealership and have it done for free

I’ve got the same issue. Master Reset just locks and I have to do a soft reset. My radio comes on when I start the vehicle, even though it was off when I shut it down. It also starts playing an AM station when I shut it down on Sirius. Something is broken.
@@Red5oh There are two options to deactivate and delete, and I pressed the delete. I thought it would delete my phone, and then I would be able to add it again, but the Apple CarPlay icon was deleted.

Mine allows iPhone calls through SYNC. But I have never been able to use the iPhone navigation through SYNC on my 2016 Escape. I did replace the USB ports.
If you have non oem HUD then there is a bug due to which you cannot hear the caller,just remove the tlink from navi application. This is the fix for non OEM sterio….👍👍
Might sound stupid, but I know it's happened to me before. Go to settings and car play and make sure the phone you're connecting has car play turned on. If turned off it won't launch car play with that specific phone.

I would remove your phone from the devices and try again assuming you mean bluetooth music. That should fix any connection issues causing the sound to not play from your music but radio works, meaning the speakers/sync 3 is fine
Hey there, I tried this on my Mustang but the problem still occurs… When I select the Reverse Gear and the sound of the parking pilot starts beeping - the sound comes from the instrument cluster and sounds different. The sound usually comes from the speakers but I can‘t find any solution. Does anybody experienced this before?
When the car is in gear or if speakers are turned off (volume:0) then it uses the speakers by your instrument cluster. This is basically a a safety feature in case your speakers aren't working you can still get the back up speakers to play the beeps
Ok. I have 2016 Lincoln. Just updated it to sync 3.2*** version. Been having issues updating navigation. Download from ford/Lincoln navigation provider. But having no luck. One thing I haven’t done since updating is a master reset. I’ll give that a shot
Just an update on my SYNC3 on a 22 Ford Explorer ST. When plugged into the vehicle from the phone being that of an iPhone, Can no longer get incoming calls
2017 explorer here, 3 days sync 3 stopped responding to my phones, I did a master reset and its the same thing, shows on the phone that its connected but doesnt show the vehicle data(Miles,Gas Level,Oil Status etc). I have 2 cellphones and all of a sudden it stopped syncing with either phone

It's there a physical key combo to do a master reset? My POS freezes on the "continue" button trying to do a master reset. Then I have to do a soft rest to get out of that screen and still have all the same issues since soft reset hasn't worked. So damn annoying and this kind of thing shouldn't be happening so often for so many people. Alternatively, is there a separate way to just "clear cache" maybe? Or is that just what soft rest does anyway? My problems are the usual laggy system but it's also not remembering several settings. Like I want my display to stay night mode but now it forgets that almost every time I turn off the car, but not every time. Seems like a cache/memory issue but besides doing a master reset, which I'm unable to do far, i have no idea what else to try lol.
There is no physical key combo you can do. Soft reset can help with that as you don't go through the menu. I would suggest disconnecting the battery for couple minutes. That will also act as a master reset for your Sync system. I hope this helps!

Another key combo I found that might be useful for some people is holding down right/forward seek on both dash and steering wheel buttons and you go into diagnostic/test mode. My issues were constant freezing, lagging and sometimes unresponsive screens and my settings for dark mode display and breadcrumbs in nav kept resetting to default every time I started up. Really frustrating. What actually fixed it completely so far was I realized there was a minor sync update that I didn't have yet so I did a thumbdrive update and it's been working perfectly every since. Zero of the old problems. My old version: 3.4.22251 New version that fixed everything: 3.4.23188

@@Red5oh I could actively move to the different menus like settings, music and climate control but none of the buttons would work within them. Stuck on SiriusXM I tried the key cycle 3 times with no luck. Finally got the master reset to reboot the system then had to do a 4th key cycle to fix the issue. I got it figured out tho.

I’d try a different usb cable or something first. Sync shouldn’t really have an effect on usb port but it’s worth master resetting since it takes only few mins. When my CarPlay wouldn’t work it would still charge so idk 100%
@@Smigo I would try the master reset then. It tends to fix stuff like this. You can try soft reset too if you don’t want your setting to be reset. I have a video on how to soft reset too.

I found an interesting issue. The sync 3 app launches for multiple iPhones old and newer 6s and 12. However the XR doesn’t recognize the Sync app. And apple carplay never loads with one phone. Is it worth resetting? I know the problematic iPhone is correctly configured.
I would try master resetting as I had the same problem where my phone won’t open the CarPlay but other phones would open it. Doing a master reset helped me fix it
@@Red5oh It works on my wife's Android every time, but for some reason it won't with my iPhone. I even bought an apple charge cable from an apple store to see if that would fix the issue and it did not.
I tried with another phone and same phone when I was having the issue and it worked lol. So not sure if it was just my phone. But good point on cleaning the connectors and cable

@@joelhernandez4863 if you have the sync 3 then when you connect your iPhone it should detect it. Mine sometimes doesn’t detect so try using a different iPhone just to be sure
Check settings and go to CarPlay setting and make sure your specific phone has car play toggled on. I know it sounds pretty simple but I have had that issue before

Go to setting and activate it. If your car originally comes with CarPlay then you should still have access

Try turning off the car then trying again. It can take a bit time sometimes to start the reset

I would turn off the car and wait 10-15 mins. That usually fixed it. Worst case try unplugging the battery for few minutes

Cant get Sirius to work.... they've sent the signal numerous times and i just have the 2 channels... preview and 0... might try this and see....

You’d need CarPlay for that. I believe earlier sync versions didn’t have that

I did this and now it won’t hook to my phone automatically like it use to. Now I have to manually connect my phone every time I restart my truck.

It leaves it at the current version just resets the setting so if you’re having occasional issues it should resolve it

Try leaving the car locked for a bit and go back. It should help out. Worst case unplug the battery couple mins. Let me know if that helps

Could also be a dirty connection with the iPhone cable.

Also my system updates automatically via Wi-Fi, and you could do diagnostic test on it. If that stuff fails then I also recommend doing a reset.
I tried with another phone and same phone when I was having the issue and it worked lol. So not sure if it was just my phone. But good point on cleaning the connectors and cable

It was very helpful, i lost apple car play connection in Ford Escape 2020 , after the master rest , everything back to work .
Glad it was helpful! If it happens again you can try soft resetting it too which keeps your settings and phones connected. I have a tutorial on that as well

@@Red5oh I was able to update the software versions and so far so good. Wireless updates weren’t working so went the usb route.
how did you get apple car play?
Mustangs have CarPlay since 2017. Which trim do you have?

@@joelhernandez4863 if you have the sync 3 then when you connect your iPhone it should detect it. Mine sometimes doesn’t detect so try using a different iPhone just to be sure

Check settings and go to CarPlay setting and make sure your specific phone has car play toggled on. I know it sounds pretty simple but I have had that issue before
