Great stuff, did I missed if the car needs to be running while doing the updates? So I understand you must start the updates from your car, and not from let's say your phone with the ford App? Also some systems can not be updated due to hardware limitations. What about if you do a 4 inch to 8 inch conversion will the Vin number have to be changed to the one for you car, or how is that going to work? Some say that in order to get Ford pass to work with a converted system you have to update the system before doing the conversion, otherwise it won't let you do it? Dang so many questions.
Hi, at 00:50 is the rear window defrost button disabled because the engine is not on? Wanna know whether its a bug because I want to update, but on 3.0 mine does work...
Thanks needed this for my ford everest but the WiFi method has never worked it would not scan for an update when I tell it to it just gets stuck but I will just download the file
Do I have to stay in the car with the radio on so it can continue to update or can I get out and be in my house while my car is off does it still continue to update with my car but connected with the WiFi ??
I can tell you this, they dropped the Taurus like a hot potato. I got Sync 3.0 on my Taurus, and it'll likely never get an update. I checked Ford's website, and there's a build update, but nothing significant
@@KuiperShainaim updating my 16 taurus with sync 3 with the usb method and we dont even get 3.4 but 3.02 something according with the ford website. what update number do you have?
After you do the upgrade, does your welcome screen logo stayed the same? I have a GT350R was wondering if I need to get Forscan to change the welcome screen after it has been upgraded. Thanks
@@Red5oh I am in the process of changing my 2016 GT350R 8" screen with the 2020 8.46" screen which has double the resolution and instead of a Matte finish it has a gloss finish. But it requires update to 3.4 to work. Thanks again!
I bought the thumbdrive from Ford ( $154 ) to upgrade my sync 3 system. I had to put my make model & vin in for my 2017 mustang. I got it, plugged it in & it says it's not compatible. I looked at the "troubleshoot " & it says i need the 3.0 version. I currently have the 2.0 version. My question is, can i get updated to the 3.0 or 3.4 version? What options do i have?
Your 2017 should have sync 3.0. Sync 2.0. Was only on 2015 mustangs. You should be able to use WiFi to update to latest sync software if usb isn’t working. I would try a different usb as that usually fixes it
I start up my car and on the screen it shows connect to wifi to download later updates. So I do but when I do and I go to settings and press on search for latest updates it doesn’t do any thing. If I connect to wifi and try to search for latest updates it doesn’t do anything. And I know I need an update because my screen is white and the boxes are grey they are not blue. Mine is a 2019 with 3k miles
The color scheme is just a Dark/Night mode. You can toggle that in the settings. New sync has slightly different blue if that is what you mean. If you do require an update I would try downloading the file and try the USB method. I have video on that as well
Another problem I have is when steering left or right it’ll make like a creaking noise. I’ve seen other videos and it’s pretty bad and loud but mine is just a slight noise also happens when letting of the brake it makes that noise just a little bit not sure if that normal or not.
@ it’s so weird bc it makes the noise only when steering to the left not the right. Also when driving it feels fine even going over bumps. It’s only when steering to the left side.

It’s because I had it off no bug on sync. It works fine normally
Excellent video. Where do I download the new version from?
Thanks a lot!!
It would be from ford website

Yes the USB method tends to be easier to do with less interruptions. Hopefully this works for you!
My friend just bought a 2019 Escape SEL, was told it had navigation but doesn't. Will upgrading Sync 3 to 3.4 help load navigation?
Nope it won’t add navigation if the car originally didn’t come with it
The only way to get navigation is by using the Apple CarPlay feature
Do I have to stay in the car with the radio on so it can continue to update or can I get out and be in my house while my car is off does it still continue to update with my car but connected with the WiFi ??
You would have to stay in the car. It does resume wherever it left off so you never lose the progress of the update
i wonder how long will Ford offer support for the sync system. by any chance do you know name of the newest generation Mustang infotainment platform?
It’s still sync system I believe but sync 4. Sync 4 is also found in newer Ford vehicles. Wish we could upgrade from sync 3 to sync 4

Yes it stays the same to whatever your car originally came with so you’d have the gt350r theme

No but watch my cyanlab video you can upgrade to sync 3.4 which lets you get car play

It shouldn't be making any noise on steering wheel. That indicates some suspension issue or steering rack. I would get that checked out
@ it’s so weird bc it makes the noise only when steering to the left not the right. Also when driving it feels fine even going over bumps. It’s only when steering to the left side.
@ yeah that’s weird to do that. It’s probably something something on driver side suspension that’s causing it
@@Red5oh but everything feels right though. Doesn’t go sideways when driving or it doesn’t shake hard when braking. Even for turning its normal.
Good tips for people
Thank you!
