2.6 0-60 (on a cold day) for an NA engine and without electric motor assist is truly impressive for a car you can buy off the showroom floor. This is the golden age of the automobile.
As far as n/a engine performance, you dont get any better than the c8 z06.Whoever buy this car has to hold on to it forever.I love the E-Ray tho,it bring something new to the corvette's name.
I can't wait to see what the ZR1 has to offer @alpe6228
@@alpe6228I think the E-Ray would be a cool Porsche Dakar rival if it was setup that way from the factory
@@OneAndOnlyKJx the ZR1 is probably gonna be Porsche 918 Spyder levels of fast
@@saltyfloridaman7163 no it wouldn’t quit the yapping
After dreaming for about 5 years, I just picked up my 2024 C8 Stingray Z51 last week. Good God I love this car.
Handles like a go-cart. Enjoy
happy for u
I'm enjoying mine too but I need sport cats or an aftermarket exhaust because I don't hear anything in the cabin.
Welcome to the family brother. The best gift you’ll ever give yourself.
I wish I was 30 again so that I could get in and out of this car. I've seen 70 year old guys do somersaults to exit this beast. You can probable watch them here on UA-cam.
Two legends. Z06 Corvette and John Davis.
Amen.🙏
I came here to say the exact same thing..
He looks great.
So true
No question about it!!
He may be getting older but that voice of his will never get old
No, it's old and pretty annoying in this day and age.
@@Driv300mph When you turn 76, please by all means, tell us all about your automotive journalism career unless your in a home eating out of a feeding tube.
John Davis, still at it!! Don't ever quit, my man!! You're an automotive LEGEND!!!
I want to see him going 190 mph in one of these babies.
The Zo6 and The Ct5 Blackwing stand out as the pinnacle of American ICE engineering!
@sunnySTX. The Chevy Trax is very impressive for the price. Not quite pinnacle level though.
Agreed
The Ford GT also and the Viper ACR?
I mean the lt4 engine came out back in '16 '17. And this lt5 v8 is the new and most advanced v8 to date. So yes n no
Cant wait to see this video in 20 years as a retro motor week
By then, real Men who drive real Cars might cease to exist....😊
I can definitely wait because I will be 61 in 20 years. Not looking forward to that lol
will be fond memories for sure
John Davis, I used to wake up early on Sunday mornings to watch Motorweek with host John Davis, Craig Singhaus, Lisa Barrow and Pat Goss with his expert tips to keep our cars running smooth. Can't believe it's almost 2000 episodes. Incredible! Keep it going!
That's still a bargain for that amount of Speed and Performance.
This is miles better than any Hellcat
I agree! Hellcats are only good for drag racing!
@@miketwotwentyAlso sound's pretty good too. Never bought a dodge anything but appreciate the availability in the marketplace. Up untill recently unfortunately. Im guessing the new Dodge electric cars aren't going to sell to most of the hellcat owners. At least the hellcat owners i know aren't currently interested in the electrics
@@davidryder5082 I just wish Dodge made a Challenger acr!
It cost twice as much...what a dumb comment....hey what next a 911 is better than a Mustang
No manual though
No serious person can deny the Z06 is among the top few performance cars anywhere - at any price. Congrats to Chevy and their engineers - that flat plane V8 is an NA monster. 🏁🇺🇸🏆
I grew in a Ford family, all Mustangs all day. Don't matter, i can't deny the C8 z06 is the best car made in America right now. It looks like a 350k supercar and drives like one too i'm sure.
There's the Corvette, then Mustangs, and no more Camaro's or Hell Cat's.
@@rondail5675The camaro is probably coming back at some point and they are already making the next challenger chargers
@@skylerhickman3646 If the Camaro comes back, it will be an EV.
@@rondail5675 Not necesarily. Chevy just dumped a billion dollars into mechanical V8 research, and the corvette is proof theyre not worried about V8s and emissions. The fans dont want an ev, and hopefuly chevy is listening
@@skylerhickman3646 I hope you are correct.
@2:59....🤣🤣🤣....the Driver was fighting for his Life
2.6 holy hell.
On a 40° day at that!
911 turbo s was doing that 10+ years ago lol
@@yDoUevenTry4 aren’t those awd?
Elon says his new Tesla coupe coming out in 2025 will do 0-60 in under 1 second! That's insane.
I get to drive C8’s including one Z06 working at a Chevrolet dealership, only parking it, yet it’s still a memorable experience to be able to do that.
Lucky guy! Love my Z51 C8 and drove the Z06 on track in Vegas and Spring Mountain and NCM Track. I'm addicted, but dealer markups on Z06 are disappointing
The voice of John Davis brings back great memories.
I love that little hip wiggle the Corvette does in its 0-60 run. Saucy minx.
WOW! This car is a track BEAST! So much so it was a little out of place on the street and I am OK with that. You will not confuse it with a boring commuter car. This is peak internal combustion engine here. 0 - 60 in 2.6 seconds, a10 second quarter mile all on pump gas. You also 670 HP with close to 20 MPH on the highway with a factory warranty and then there is that glorious sound. Again, WOW!
This car is the stuff of dreams. I don't know what the future holds for cars but I am not taking for granted we have cars like this now. I hope to one day to have one and congrats to those who are able to own one now. Thanks again MotorWeek for the great video. With so much great info packed in under 7 minutes, and delivered with style BTW, there is a reason why MotorWeek top tier automotive journalism!
Greatest voice in automotive reviews. The legend John Davis
And that is the Truth....
This car singlehandedly put America back on the production super car map truly a marvel of American engineering 🇺🇸💯
Correction at 2:00. Chevy didn't plop a bigger motor into the engine bay. They plopped a smaller one--from 6.2L in the base Stingray down to 5.5L in the Z06.
Nah, John always knows! The 5.5L (DOHC) is much bigger than the 6.2L LT2 (pooprod).
@salninethousand2496 the LT2 is still a phenomenal engine. Pushrods make amazing powerbands for balanced torque and power. A Supercharged LT2 or a revised LT2 with better internals would be great for the upcoming C8 Grand Sport, which is supposed to share the Z06 body while staying just as light with around 550hp as the target
@@saltyfloridaman7163 do you have a source that confirms an upcoming Grand Sport?
A great review. However the nostalgic feeling i get hearing John Davis, is just amazing. Brings me back to speed network on Saturday mornings in the late 90s , watching and dreaming of all the cars being reviewed!
Motor week should have 10+Million subscribers. One of the original ones. Mr Davis is the best, been watching him for over 3 decades.
John Davis! My favorite automotive review voice!
I had a 97 Corvette, I put 130,000 miles on it in 7 years. The only reason I sold is because at 77 years old it was hard to get out of it! I did all my own maintenance except for replacing the AC compressor. Here in Texas the compressor runs all the time I just wore it out. I’d like to try a new one but the wife just giggles when I mention it!!! Properly maintained a vette will last for years.
0 to 60 in 2 1/2 seconds with no electric is simply an amazing feat of engineering.
I have fond memories of watching this show every Saturday with my late father. He sadly passed in 1993. I'm sure he would have been amazed what has been accomplished in the last 30 years.
The Corvette… Will Always be my favorite!
I remember the days of watching the 24-hr Lemans with non-other than Dale Earnhardt and JR. killing the game. R.I.P. Dale E. 🏁🏁🏁🏁
👉🏽I will own one soon. Corvette
I very much want one after my father enjoyed his 16 Z06 for quite a few years but picked up a 2020 C8 Stingray Z51 last year and gonna enjoy that for at least another couple years, only has 4,200 miles on it so far.
I thought the torque spec was a bit weak, but 0-60 in 2.6 is unbelievable! 10.7 @ 130 OMG!
Another great review. After all these years, I can't imagine the possibility of ever watching a MotorWeek review without John Davis. He's got just the right voice.
MotorWeek,the og of car review.
There is none like it....
They are most likely the longest running but "Car and Track" with Bud Lindemann is "THE" OG. They're pretty cool and there are a bunch of their videos up on here, check them out.
2.6 0-60 / 10.7 1/4 mile - This thing is quick and fast!
Been watching John Davis on MotorWeek for 43 years. It's the constant in the universe.
That sound would never get old!
I want John Davis to live long enough to present and talk about the C12 Corvette!
Bought a 2LT 2022 C8 HTC in Hypersonic Gray Metallic. The car does everything you want it to. Mild mannered and docile when you want, but can really perform when you hit the gas. Handles the turns and road bumps beautifully. I get compliments on the car every time I take it out. I’ve gotten more compliments on this car than my last previous 6 sports cars combined.
This channel is so funny, the announcers voice, video quality, graphics and overlays etc. are all from 2008 but the cars are new
Great specification. An all-time great supercar.
Chevy really knocked it out of the park with this monster.
Thank you for this! -life long fan.
Wow! How old is John Davis now? I turned 50 this year and was watching him and Motor Week back in the 6th grade on PBS after school.
about 130 i think.
I would really love to have a "behind the scenes " or a commentary from John on his thoughts about the corvette from when he first begun motorweek until this generation.
This guy brings me back
C8: "This isn't even my final form."
Crazy watching the HIPO small block chevy v8s evolve over the years from 327 fuelie, to the LT5 zr1 engine to the LS6 350 or Direct injection LT1. To something like this is pretty amazing. To be able to have something like this in the market vs a hybrid/torque vectored NSX makes me wonder what theyll offer with the future racing-standard era NISMO GTR/homologation. Or if theyll be using a newer V8/32v in their race cars/z/sedans as well. Just another benchmark set from a production/value standpoint to track time ratio.
Love this. Awesome car and still doing a great job on the show, over three decades later...
Nice to hear some exhaust note. Still wishing for a microphone in the engine bay during track tests. Instead of saying 5.5 liter is larger than 6.2 liter. Mention the low RPM vibration disappears once the engine is allowed to scream to its peak power @ 8400 rpm, and redline @ 8600.
I got mine delivered in December. Sounds amazing and drives perfectly really. The ZR1 looks like it will be turbocharged but not a hybrid. I would expect the Zora to be the next hybrid… Magnetic dampers do an amazing job too.
Congrats sir. Congrats.
John Davis still has a great voice. He's the GOAT!
It's a thing of beauty but 90% of us can't afford it
Love it from every angle except the back
Damn! That Monster is one beautiful Beast!👌🥰👍
This thing is a stunner. Performance, track focus, and a a relative bargain.
Absolute legend
the width of the ass end on that thing! totally menacing!
I love my C8 z06. The bargain supercar of a lifetime!
Love the reviews on all the cars on this channel ☕️❤🇺🇸
I understand why you say that....the Z06 and the hellcat are very popular in the United States especially(in Arkansas where cops are not happy about it) 3rd place coming to mustang. you have an opinion about those three and its warranted from your perspective.
About to buy an '08 G8 GT supercharged with 620hp/560tq. Runs mid 11s on 285 Nittos.
A track car for the public road makes a lot of sense
That front left tire looks like my tires🤣🤣🤣🤣 Time to get a new set😊
They come like that because they are high performance race slick tyres
@@G0ddEityawesome Oh! Okay
"I would like to increase my performance somewhat"
"sure thing, time to remove the everything and spend the value of a muscle car"
This is a supercar for the supercar budget.
I always felt like the C8 looked cheap and basically warranted its somewhat inexpensive price tag. This Z06 however looks awesome, almost like a different car altogether and actually looks like a $200-$250,000 car for $120 grand.
Awesome ride, wish they had a manual option and hydraulic brakes
To add - this car won at the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year.
Brilliant engine and edgy exterior design. Fantastic performance also. Too bad about the hideous console passenger wall.
That car is amazing! Great work at Chevrolet!
Truly an incredible creation and from GM that’s just unbelievable not long ago…
Good luck going to a dealer and getting one for your prices!!!!! Trust me... If I could get a 3LZ for 127k then there would be one in my garage right now.
The E-Ray is a step ahead in its speed metrics
As an owner of a C7 Z06 with a 7-speed manual, that would be the only C8 I'd consider
AWD, a hybrid powertrain, a EV mode for quiet getaways, and elite performamce
The only real flaw is the lack of center-mounted exhaust, like the C8 Z06, or C7 Z06
Was never a fan of the C8, just looked a bit dated on arrival, but, this car looks insane with the performance to back it up.
John driving the Z06 on the track
You're right, they did not just drop a bigger motor in the Z06. In fact the LT6 in the C8 Z06 displaces .7 liters less than the LT2 in the standard C8. I love this car but will have to settle for my C6 Z06.
The only knock that I’ve heard is about a little dull steering feedback. Small thing given it’s half the cost of its competitors.
It’s come a long way since 1953. The Fiesta Flash
The only problem with this car is that they’ve set the bar rather high, they’ll need to do some serious magic to make the ZR1 considerably better than the Z06. The fuel economy isn’t that good either when compared with something more powerful and heavier like the mentioned Dodge Hellcats.
I really want a C8 Corvette. And I absolutely hate modern vehicles and their unnecessary technology. But I'd make an exception for the C8. I'd be happy with a base model with the magnetic suspension and a few other things.
That’s what I got. Base 1LT but with mag ride and Z51 Performance package. I love it!
"The 'Vette is all'at"👏🏾
This is quite a machine. Very impressive on Chevrolets part. I don't care about the few flaws I've heard about, such as wide panel gaps. If able, I would still buy one.
Man, I'll take one please!🤤
Awesome Car
John, what does the BOSE sound like?
Very Bose like.
Good luck finding someone to change the tires on those pricy carbon fiber wheels. Not even the dealers will touch them.
Lol, cause you're in the wrong state.
HUUM! I'VED ALWAYS LOVE [CORVETTES] & THIS IS A HANDSOME ONE!! HOWEVER, A BEAUTY OF [BMW] WITH FOUR DOORS & FASTER PERFORMANCE!! HAS SEDUCED ME!!.. & I LOVE IT!!.
Why not properly mount the paddles to the column instead of on the steering wheel?
good ol' roebling road raceway!
Just an exciting sports car.
What happened to the brake test?
Lovely beast...
Wow!!😮 I’ve never liked Corvettes till this moment.
😊 amazing 👏
It sounds and looks fantastic (well, not the yardstick-of-buttons interior) but the way these have been bid up, I would probably get a 911 Turbo S instead.
They’ve never come close to the 240 K you need to get a nicely equipped 911 turbo S. and those crazy markups are gone, FYI
Now make it some kind of cabrio and a little more lively colored!..😍
What color is that ? I cant figure it out lol.
Yeah but are the white socks and New Balance sneakers optional or standard?
Old guys still buy the Corvette and still wear Nike Monarchs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and white socks !
The Corvette 2 seat layout and high HP means high insurance for young drivers........
Love my 23' C8!!!
They should cite the likely market prices you'll find at dealerships instead of msrp, or at least mention the upcharges and current demand.
In 2000 Mosler Automotive laid the future foundation of what the mid engine Corvette would be. Several variations of the the MT900 were produced. Today everyone is so amazed by these Corvette C8', anyone who doesnt know cars that is. In 2009 Mosler unveiled the MT900 GTR XX "Landshark" a car that could theoretically destroy the Bugatti, Koenigsegg' & SSC' of that time period. Although no one knows for sure. But we all know the potential of GM V8's
Long live the Z06!
If i could buy any supercar on sale today, it'd be one of these.
