- The C8 Corvette Z06 takes performance to a new level from Chevy. On the outside you will notice a wider body, forged wheels and carbon ceramic brakes. On the inside you will be greeted by a 3LZ interior with GT2 seats. Powering the Z06 is a 5.5L V8 mated to a Tremec DCT. Is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 a BETTER super car than a 2024 C8 E-Ray?

I think I've got to go with this Z-06 over the E-Ray. I like the way the Z-06's engine revs and you make this car look like unbeatable driving fun.
I love them both, however I would go for the Z-06. I love that sound.

I would have loved to have driven an E-Ray but I bought a Z06 and I absolutely love it the sound of this car, the feel of this car is amazing.
Only reason I want the Eray is for the AWD. That launch is nice but then the Z06 is just… ugh…. 😂 it’s my dream car. When the time comes I definitely have to drive both to know. Either way I don’t think I can go wrong with either imo
oh yeah. tons of cars feel like rocket ships thanks to electric motors, not many have that flat plane v8 sound and a nearly 5 digit redline

Wow... You just can't beat that sound! It's epic! I'd much prefer the E-Ray practicality... But, I'd still go for the Z-06. The center exhaust and the sound. Some American manufacturing whoopass we've been hoping for forever.

I loved the eargasm comment, LOL. That is one sexy looking and sounding car for sure. Two things I just can't get over. 19 MPG highway and no manual transmission on a Z06. It's gotta be a manual for a corvette, but that's just me.
I've always heard how good the automatic system is in most all of the vettes

Because it will be a daily driver and I will not track the car, I'm going with the E-Ray HTC. I have a C8 Stingray right now, love it, but I will upgrade.
Z06 in my opinion needs the big wing on the back, but as usual great review Joe keep it strong :D

Joe, you sold me again on the Z06. Every month or 2 I start doubting the Z06 as the car to get due to price and the AWD capabilities of the land yacht that is the Eray. But this review and how that glorious heaven sent from Jesus himself engine has sold me on my Z06 HTC Riptide blue/tension blue w/comp seats, stealth, lift, CS brakes, stage 1 CF, red intake w/clear cover. OR Red Mist HTC same everything else. I would love the red dipped but the glare would be criminal. Also GM has a warning about the glare so they cant be sued. Red/blk interior is nice also, but I LOVE the Tension Blue interior.
I know Raiti is probably excited for the 2025 Corvette Zr1 and Zora.
You can take that to the bank for sure!

IMHO, it depends on what one wants out of their Vette. If someone wants a slightly, unruly track monster with the beautiful noises of that 5.5L FPC then the Z06 is for them. If someone wants a 4 season AWD, all rounder, easier road tripper then the E-Ray is where they should look. It's like a 911 GT3 vs a 911 Turbo. Both wonderful cars, but for different purposes. I personally keep going back and forth myself but know that the E-Ray fits my needs/wants better. An electrified, AWD version WITH the 5.5L FPC would be where I want to put my money.

I agree that those greenish-yellow calipers clash with Torch Red. That's a very cold yellow and a very warm red, just doesn't work.
I have a 2023 SR in Elkhart Lake Blue, and the same yellow calipers look great on it.

A couple of corrections, you said the Z06 is 3" wider in the front over the SR. That is incorrect the Z06 is 3.6" wider in the rear over the SR. You also said the front body colored splitter is an option it is not. This is the stock splitter you get if you don't order the optional carbon flash or carbon fiber ground effect package.
I have a 23 Z06 with 1500 miles Red Mist HTC 3LZ I love it I would not trade it for an E Ray, The E-Ray will beat the the Z by 1 tenth in a 1/4 mile but I didn't get it for that. The Z has a better suspension and better tires and will out corner the E Ray, if you know how to drive, the E Ray will make a weak driver more of a hero but then the weak driver shouldn't be pushing the E Ray either. also the Z06 sound! OMG it's nuts no E Ray will ever sound like a Z the E Ray will sound just like a Stingray, I had a 21 C8 StingRay and loved it and the sound was great but the Z is in a whole other world . If the E Ray had come first I would have taken it and never looked back, but now owning a Z06 I can't go E Ray even though I have a low # at my dealer for an E Ray. You like the E Ray get one! you'll love it! I do love the new E Ray blue color. But for me it's not close, its Z06 all the way, but I will admit the E Ray like the Stingray has a softer suspension and will have a very quiet cabin, if I'm going 500 miles i'll probably drive it in weather mode most of the way that way it's very comfy and I can talk normally with my wife.

They're both amazing cars, but I have to go with the Z06. Chevy is trying to promote the E-Ray as a hybrid, but it can only go 4 miles on the battery. Not really a hybrid-in my opinion, but it certainly doesn't lack performance.

I would still choose the ZL1 Camoro, 650hp/650ftlb torque, over the vette and blackwing v ct5. In house, im team camaro.

The Z06 may be the better super car, but I would take the E-Ray everyday. I like the electrification and awd it provides. If I were to ever get any C8, it would be the E-Ray.

What I find odd is that after I start my z06, the redline max is much lower than the 8600 rpm, which I understand for it needs to warm up. But on the ERay you can start it and immediately drive off in stealth mode until the engine kicks in. So apparently the ERay gas motor doesn't need to warm up?
GM is not making many so far, so the lucky few that get one will not lose much money if any in depreciation. Almost an investment minus insurance premium.
I never seen a car with the same model with different codes that has different engines flat plain and pushrod.
How’d you get to 173,000? It’s not a Z07. Doesn’t have carbon wheels. Most Z07s are 165. Doesn’t have carbon in the interior. I think you guts got ripped off

Out of my budget too, which is why I like following Pratt Miller’s Corvette Z06 racing team. Just saw them in Daytona and it was awesome. Their yellow livery is perfect for that Z06 body. And they’re super competitive too.

@@Skatman-q3d you want break neck straight line acceleration the vette is your car. But it felt cumbersome in corners. It also rattled and creaked. The interior fit and finish wasn’t the best. I just prefer the driving experience of the 911. It’s more complete. I could use the Porsche as a daily driver and not feel like I got beat up after a long commute. At these prices you should get what you like. Both cool cars.

A new ZO6 came into the parking lot I was parked in, and he was revving it up, and that is an impressive sounding V8 with the flat plane crank. And yes, the ZO6 is better looking and more menacing than the standard C8nwhich I don't care for.

Rumour is GM will introduce the ZR1 (Z06 + 2 Twin Turbo) for 2025
They are going for over 200k CAD here in Canada.... mark ups everywhere.
At the Kissimmee Mecum Auto auctions last week, the high bid was $170,000 on a brand new red C8 ZO6. Can't remember if reserve was or whether there was no reserve. But bidding stopped at $170,000.
U act like engine and performance is the only thing that makes a ferrari or porsche expensive. They are luxury sports cars. Unlike a Chevy corvette or dodge hellcat. The fit and finish and materials used are way higher grade
@@G82Watts A Ford GT is hand built with carbon fiber tub in very limited quantities unlike a mass produced Corvette. Ferrari doesn't make many vehicles in its small factory either. Ditto for McLaren and other super car companies. Those who have big bucks can buy the hand built carbon fiber super cars that often cost a million or more. However, a Z06 costs 80% less and is just as fast.

You're right, the C8 Z06 is truly a supercar. It's also my preference over anything with "E" in the name. They did copy many of the Ferrari elements in it's design, especially the new LT6 engine. What's not to like! 😎👍🏁
Joe, you bring up a valid zonk with that putrid lime/yellow break caliper option. With that beautiful red exterior color, I'd prefer matching red brake calipers. I'd also prefer the AWD ERay Stingray, not that I don't love this Z06, because I do. The wheels are great as are the Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Joe, I'm sure you are all aware of the Mecum auction taking place in Kissimmee for the past 10 days. It would be well worth your time to take in all of the absolutely magnificent automobile art that they are offering, not the least of which includes many dozens of Corvettes from 1953 - 2023. Amazing.

The 350k figure is probably because of dealer markups. There were Z06s with 100k markups putting them at 275k or whatever. However, Z06s can be found from MSRP to about $10k over (the Z07 packages) right now with some searching. The ZR1 will probably go through something similar

Great video Joe, the Z06 is awesome. Just a bit leery of the motor not lasting due to being a 5.5.L Flat-Plane Crank engine. I have 4 friends that blew their Ford GT-350 engines and the vet is even bigger from 5.2L to 5.5L.
Hey Joe, why is the price so high? Is that an ADM price? You can build the Z06 HTC ZL3 options with carbon brakes, without the Z07 package, for $140 on the website.

The Lt6 is built from the ground up to be a fpc engine. Ford just took an existing engine and added the fpc.
