- Spotlight is a video series featuring Team Discraft members. In this Spotlight, we catch up with new Elite Team member Brodie Smith to give you an insight into his transition into disc golf and what it means to join Discraft's Elite Team.
Brodie Smith is a professional disc golfer from Dallas, TX. Known for his successful ultimate frisbee career and viral trick shot videos, Brodie took the disc golf community by storm and has been a captivating figure since transitioning into the sport back in 2020. Despite facing numerous challenges and enduring a longer-than-expected journey, Brodie's dedication and passion for the sport propelled him forward.
A firm believer in setting individual goals, Brodie believes that the true measure of an individual lies not in their victories or defeats, but the effort put into achieving these goals. He is committed to continuous self-improvement and embraces competition to push himself to perform at his highest level. In 2023, his hard work and persistence paid off when he joined Discraft's prestigious Elite Team. Through his evolving skillset, competitive mindset, and love for the sport, Brodie Smith has made a significant impact in the disc golf community and serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes chasing their dreams.

When Brodie started I was a hater. I was annoyed that he was able to have McBeth as a mentor right off the bat. I was honestly rooting for him to fail. It’s absolutely blew my mind how hard he worked and how fast he progressed. When he did the video with Drew Gibson in attempt to throw 500’ I never thought it was going to be possible but yet he did it by the end of the video. That was the start for me being team Brodie. It was really like, damn ok this guy can do it. I root for him and Ezra every tournament. Well, honestly it’s Simon first then Brodie and Ezra.
Keep it up Brodie, I was super inspired by your body transformation during the past offseason. I hope to meet you someday. Many blessing on your journey from Minnesota.

Bro dis is the whole reason I got into disc golf, glad to see he’s maturing mentally and in his game. I’m going to go nuts if he gets a win this season but I’ll settle for some top 10 finishes!

My respect for Brodie has really grown over the last couple years. He is really driven and has matured mentally. Hope to see him get a win this season. It will be tough though with today's competitors.
I ran into Brodie on the course, during his Ultimate/trickshot days. I asked him a stupid question that he probably heard all the time, "how many takes for those trckshots?" Super nice about it though. Glad someone on the elite team is putting my putter.

I’ve become a fan as of late. I honestly thought the name shouldn’t equal success, because talent and time equals success. But Brodie has shown he knows it’s not an overnight process, he’s getting his arse handed to him out there, he’s basically learning on the pro tour. That’s gotta a mentally challenging thing, I know it is. I’m routing or pulling for him, but I don’t want him to burn the candle too much on after hours jobs if that gets in his way of the first reason he chose disc golf. The podcast are great and he’s growing there too. I think Brodie wants to win multiple tournaments (elite, majors, etc) before he feels like his Brady days are over. Gotta remember this guy was the pinnacle, top of the spear, top disawg in ultimate. Killer instinct is there, he’s just what we call…learning a different way to focus it. He can win, he can outlast some the younger guys.
Dude is good! More to follow from him soon I do imagine.

Until the sport of disc golf actually is a team sport, where your scores and ranking as a player solely depend on the players on your team. “Team” is a hard seller if you’re only selling discs as a team. 😊
you realize its common throughout all of sports for a sponsor to call all of its under contract athletes a team right? Like team Biosteel doesn't play a team sport, they don't even all play the same sport. Its just a term they like to use with marketing athletes together
