Everdell is my favorite game of all time! My expansions ranking is:
    1) New Leaf - being able to get more pebbles from the train, recycle the meadow and train station, and reserve cards that would be recycled that you have been saving for is huge!
    2) Belfaire- Gives player powers for Belfaire, Pearlbrook, Rugwart’s rats, and base game critters, I enjoy the market for gaining difficult to get pebbles (unless you get a mine), and I like the one of every card type event! I have home made better player boards. It also allows for up to 6 players, but I would do five at most.
    3) Spirecrest - the extra difficulty of dealing with limiting weather and saving needed resources for your end game trail is a nice challenging increase to the base game experience.
    4) Pearlbrook - Adds the pearls resource and places specific to your new frog ambassador only. Adds monuments that replaces the events, and I think I prefer the challenge of the events causing you to need to use a worker to gain them. As has been said, pearls are more difficult to obtain.
    5) Mistwood - I prefer Rugwart’s Solo mode to Nightweave’s Solo/Semi-co-op! The new critters are nice and I enjoy their player powers. The Collin Evertail Legendary cards are nice, but the alternate art ones that come with the Complete Collection Big Ol’ Box are just as good. The best part of this lackluster expansion are the Through The Seasons alternate farm cards!
Love this game and thinks for your coverage. :D

I agree with this as well. Everdell is my favorite game of all time, and I enjoy all the expansions in this same order of preference.

I listened to you and ordered Newleaf. Me and my wife love it. It brought so many changes to the game. Dinamics changed, new characters. Some of the new additions can be used without Newleaf at all and used with basic verstion, like tickets, reserve tokens and basic events.
Until now our favourite expansion was Spirecrest. Not so much in love with Pearlbrook, which gathers dust on the shelf.

13:13 - the “Through the Seasons” variant farm cards are from Mistwood. :)

Sorry Will, I’m with Sarah on this one as far as Pearlbrook.😜 I agree it’s hard to get the pearls. I haven’t played Newleaf yet but it sounds like it definitely fixes the flow of meadow cards so that more come out which is needed in a 2 player game. I love Spirecrest for the big animeeples. 😍Great video, see y’all in a few days! 🎉

My favourites are Bellfaire and Newleaf (well, actually my true favourite is the mini-expansion Legendary). I love the new player powers and market in Bellfaire and I love the station, visitors, golden acorns, ticket and reserve token in Newleaf (plus the way there are more open cards, and cycling through the cards are easier). My least favourite so far might be Spirecrest, I think mainly because the weather events are ALWAYS bad and I think if there had been more of a mix, it would have felt better. I might change my opinion on it as I try it out again (I did get the big collector's edition so will at some point, but my first experience with it was bad). Haven't tried out Mistwood.

Your experience sounds pretty similar to ours. "WHY is Spirecrest so mean?? I don't like it!" the first time, but then "oh, it's actually kind of a nice challenge" was our response the second time through.

I love Everdell but don't think I'll buy one of these Expansions.... I don't want more mechanics. Just more meeples and Cards would be nice...

Yeah me too, I’d just love maybe a few more options of card synergy and maybe another resource/worker placement

Thanks for the informative video! My thoughts about the game are closer to Sara’s. I backed the first kickstarter, and I didn’t really care for the game. I really disliked the randomness of not being able to pair up the critter with the location, but I did like the tableau-building. I got rid of the game and then backed the second kickstarter with Pearlbrook. I didn’t like that expansion because I felt the big wonders were too swingy if you just missed out on one because someone got it first. So I got rid of the game again. I backed the big box, but once it arrived, it was just too ridiculously large to fit on the shelf or take to game night. So I got rid of it too. I may eventually get the base game and New Leaf as it sounds like it addresses some issues I had with the base game. We’ll see. Too many games! :D

As much as love Pearlbrook, I think it's much harder than Spirecrest. It takes way too much focus off of the tableaubuilding as makes you focus almost completely on the pearl gaining and wonder building.

So would you say you guys typically play the base game plus one expansion?? plus two expansions? How do you play to get the best value out of the game but also not be sitting at the table for 3 hours?

    • @tantrumhousegames
      @tantrumhousegames  Рік тому +1

We've been playing it, most recently, with just the Newleaf expansion. I think that's our new "base" version because it doesn't introduce TOO many new things, but it allows you to cycle through cards so much faster, plus offers you the end game goals, the train tickets for one/two additional actions, and the wax seal for reserving cards. It also seems to pair pretty well with all of the other expansions so the base + newleaf + whatever works really well :)

I played new leaf this weekend. My score was so high. I beat everyone by 30+ points. I like it but man they over power you with the tickets and reserve a card.

I saw the title, and thought, all of them! 😂Pearlbrook is probably my family's favorite, though I'm curious how Newleaf by itself would be. We've always played everything all together, but I can definitely see how you can rack up points with the visitors.

Feedback if you want it: I find Will's appreciations more useful because they're mostly focused on what makes the game fun, vs. Sara's points of view that feel more like "I like this because I was able to win" or "I dislike this because it was unfair to me" and sometimes it makes me, as a viewer, feel like she's disregarding strategy or depth
