    Great video. Great fireplace. Your video will help me a lot to build my own. I have 2 questions. What was your depth of your concrete base/footer? Also when you placed the 2 metal support bars across the top to build the top of the hearth, wasn't the blocks that you placed on it higher than the ones behind it? The metal support bar would of raised the blocks a little bit. I assume it wasnt level. Is this correct?

    Awesome fireplace! Using a leaf blower will also feed the fire!

    My only nitpick: the stones above the fireplace should be horizontal... they just look wrong oriented vertically. Otherwise brilliant, plus it looks like the fam' got involved, so that makes it a lasting family memory. Well done!

    Hi - does the design have a ‘smoke shelf’ to stop the smoke being blown back out the opening by the wind through the chimney - have you had this problem? Do you have a cover over the top of the chimney? Thanks

      Kevinw4040 yes. It is a special mortar that can take the heat. You can buy it where you buy your bricks or stone.

    Great Job. I am a do it yourselfer as well and in the process of making one myself. 2 questions... Do you have anything in-between the 2 front angle irons or is it just filled with concrete? The video looks as if you have a metal sheet on top of the fireplace opening under your blocks. Also what size if your flue?

    Awesome work!!! Just bought the plans for the Pima 11. How much was spent on veneer stone ? I’m getting estimates of 1000-1500. Did the plans give sq ft for veneer ?

    This looks like the Pima II from Backyard Flare. That's the one I'm currently building. I noticed you added the Cap Block on to the 2nd level. Then later added self made concrete seating (which looks great BTW). How did you transition between the concrete seating and bottom of firebox? Is the seating and firebrick thickness the same? thanks!!

    • @thewortmans4514
      @thewortmans4514  4 роки тому

      James Bell the thickness on the cement is 1.5 inch. Not sure the thickness of the fire brick. Yes we added an extra layer of block on top because we thought it needed it. It is the Pima 11

      Looks very nice. I was gonna buy plan but won’t work for me due to space. On the Pima plans lists it calls for 14) 8x4x16 where were those placed? I followed along your video on the 8x8x16 on base and 8x8 up top. I’m just trying to make a custom sized one like yours. Thank you, Great job!

      @@thewortmans4514 Any reason you chose to use block across the top of the firebox instead of pouring concrete into a mold (like pima ii plans show)? I'm getting ready to start building one and just doing some research. Nice job btw!!
