- Philippines being a country of islands, one will get plenty of opportunities to travel by sea! We are sharing our experience of traveling from Bacolod to Iloilo in a fastcraft or fast ferry.
On reaching Iloilo, we walked to our hotel. Our first impression was, Iloilo is beautiful and clean!

That white old bldg with the tall tower is the Customs House, CASA DE ADUANA. It is now the Museum of Philippine Maritime History. Entrance is free. Not to be missed. Behind it, at the left , the taller bldg with many windows is rhe Iloilo City Hall. There is a Museum/gallery at the ground floor. Entrance is also free. Behind it is the Spanish era bldg Elizalde y Ynchausti bldg. This bldg is now the Museum of Philippine Economic History. Also free entrance here. Iloilo City is a City of Museums and Art Galleries. ILOILO is is also known as the Living Museum City.

bottom line iloilo is way better for several reason but as an expat i did one year bacolod and the other in iloilo ... Iloilo wins hands down - sorry bacolod
Thats the difference,Iloilo city is more on the Spanish while Bacolod city heritage comes from the American side

Iloilo has many Spanish heritage sites, but it has also more American heritage sites than Bacolod - it has the American era PhilAm compound; it has the American Cemetery; many of the streets in Jaro are named after American presidents -Washington; Smith; Commission Civil (American Civil Commission); Cooper(?); Forbes Bridge; Carpenter Bridge; Hodges Estates; General Hughes Street; Central Philippine University (CPU); Jaro Evangelical Church (the first evangelical church in the Philippines): Iloilo Mission Hospital (the first American mission hospital in the Philippines); Mission Road (in Jaro): Baptist Center Church (the oldest Baptist church); Santa Barbara Golf and Country Club (built by American engineers in the 1900s. The oldest golf course in Asia). So what American heck in Bacolod are you bluffing about?
Ilo-ilo has more Spanish heritage.
For Spanish heritage in Negros.. there is Silay City.. that looks like a twin of old Iloilo..
Sailing schedule from Iloilo to Bacolod
Many fast ferry companies operate in this route - Oceanjet, Supercat, Weesam etc. each ferry company has their own schedule, it may change also. I suggest that you check timings for your journey date, you will have updated information.
