He seems like the G rank version in GU.
The opening is playing frozen tundra from monster hunter tri like they did with rathalos in monster hunter and having green hills play when he is introduced.
IM kinda mad that Tundra ost from Tri doesn't even became this monster official theme.... That intro still menacing af

I’ll be honest, he went from bottom of the three, to number two above nargacuga! One of the best reworked monsters

I couldn't take him out solo, that's for sure. BFD always has us beat in terms of skill.
I now see that I have a different definition of skill. Sorry BFD, but I honestly think I'm better at using the sheath and foresight slash.

Ah yes the Anjanath in iceborne, except even older players will find him challenging
The fight itself is quite brutal at first, with barioth jumping all over the place and dealing quite insane amounts of damage, but it becomes a great experience when you learn how to properly read his moves and predict his behaviour. Thankfully after getting through barioth you will be handling other monsters much more easily
So true, i spend 2 days trying to kill him and later Nargacuga and Glavenius feel easy

Yo dude for some reason I can’t make pukei pukei armor do you know why I can’t I’ve hunted him twice and his armor just doesn’t show up
@@jacechadwick6450 Was it an actual quest to hunt him or an expidetion? Also you might have to progress a bit further in the game (hunt the next monster) or he might not have an armor.
Eternal Sentry it was a quest I’ve seen how his chest plate has a very good ability and I wanted it but his armor doesn’t show up

His intro reminds me of the frost troll in skyrim you fight on your way up the 7,000 steps
He’s about as difficult as that one, too.
I beat him with Longsword too, it was tough especially at first because i wasn't used to his aggression, but patience is key and learning his moveset. Once you know the openings, he becomes more manageable. It's also useful to break his front legs because it makes him stumble after he jumps around.
This thing shouldn't be this hard this early in the game. In fact, this thing shouldn't be here at all. Y'know who could have been here instead of Barioth? FUKIN SEREGIOS!
I know this is super old but if yall complaining how fast and how much this thing moves, you wouldnt wanna fight seregios

@@Exoskel2 I was like 2 or 3 minutes from failure lol, I made the mistake of trying to use charge blade when I probably wouldn't be able to find any opening for power axe, so I switched to gunlance
@@dylanj950 charge blade is a fight of attrition with barioth, and also barioth is way too jumpy for charge blade to land attacks
I don't get it ,they introduce him with a remix of his old ost yet when the fight begins it stops and we hear the classic Hoarfrost Reach ost .It's just like when they did it with Rathalos.
Because its not their actual theme, it's the mh3 tundra battle theme.
Same as los, its forest&hills battle theme not his. It's just brief throwback when you first meet them

Tremble of the sea and land is the perfect theme for lagi, even the song title match. But it's not his theme, it's desserted island theme
@@m_riidi Actually, it is their theme. In Japanese, the names of the tracks refer to one monster, it's just that they use those monster themes for the area themes as well.
Forest and Hills theme is actually Rathalos' theme, Tundra theme is Barioth's, Frozen Seaway is Zamtrios, etc. All these battle themes are attached to one monster as a source but also used generally for other monsters.
I love this video. It's so much more realistic and relatable than the speedruners.

More like 45 for me, it was so solo nobody came to help me, 3/4 of my inventory was gone after this fight lol
I used the lightening punisher IV to beat this guy. Took me 34 mins and 5 mega barrel bombs.
Fucker force me to bring a trap and flash bomb. Took me 7 minutes after the preperation.

For me, at the moment this is the hardest fight, I Dont even know where he is most of the time, he kicked my ass 3 times already, I managed to kill him only one time.
Ive killed him about 3 times and havent failed but by no means is he easy lmao, his aggression is overwhelming at all times

I kill her many times already. Avinia going to kick my ass soon or later because I kill her monstie.
I've used a viper tobi kadachi longsword to kill him. He got paralyzed like 4 times and it helped me a lot

I always hated this thing. It's a more annoying version of nargacuga and without the "cooldown" between attacks the other games had, he just jumps around aimlessly only for me to run after him so he can jump again. Nargacuga jumps away from you and instantly follows it up with some other attack so you can dodge and punish the entire time. Barioth moves way too far most of the time without doing anything.
I loved this bad boi so much that I still remember his moves to this day
3 years later and bro is still just as annoying 😭. Every little move does damage and he catches Ariel attacks.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds Barioth annoying. He jumps all over the place and just doesn’t die. I avoid Barioth like the plague whenever I’m on an expedition because the battle is so tedious.
There’s something that upsets me about Barioth. That’s his eyes , this is because they are so cold, vicious, and unsettling. He is proclaim to be a subzero white knight or respectful but when you look at his eyes they look weird like the kind you would see on a oni mask.
With his eyes closed, he is a knight. A relentless one, for sure, but the knight of the snow. Enraged, however, is a demon. A berserker seeking for blood

Came here to see if anyone else found him difficult... i feel less bad about it now.
i have only been doing the urgent quests so far and this is the first monster that i had to upgrade to MR gear as the first time i went in i got carted in like 2 mins. with the chrome cross DB, beo helm, high metal chest, waist and gauntlets and viper greaves, it took me 42 mins to solo with one cart as i got pinned against a wall while it was enraged. didn't use flash pods or traps.
a pretty annoying fight though.

Did they nerf flash pods? Cause when I was trying to use them against Nightshade Paolumu they literally weren't doing anything
Yeah, they made it to where the flash is brighter and monster's will now have temporary immunity to them. By flashing being brighter, I mean it lights up the entire screen
all master rank monsters can build an immunity to flashes and shock traps....... really annoying finding that out when i tried to capture Barioth
Shock trap immunity is also a thing in high rank, but yeah it’s quite annoying
Found out they built immunity when fighting Nightshade Paolumu

great playthrough, reminds me of the amount of times I RQ cus of this BS hitbox monster.
Best strategy for fighting Barioth is to break its claws, head, and finally the tail. Traps will help too if you find it difficult to destroy the monster parts.
Assuming people cleared most of World's content, I do highly recommend equipping the Rocksteady and Temporal mantle for this fight. Makes the stupid clutch clawing/tenderizing a lot easier.
Bring nulberries or equip iceblight stuff to counter the debuffs, will help a lot if your weapons use loads of stamina.

This fight is horrible. He does way too much damage and just never stops moving.
I feel you. For some reason, I really have immense issues with this fight - and its not even that I am terrible at the game or anything, I even soloed G Rank in GU/4U and began in 3U and with most monsters, I dont have too much of a problem. But that guy in Iceborne? Fuck him. I hate Monsters who just never sit still and jump from place to place - was already annoying as HECK in GU but in Iceborne he seems to have taken some serious drugs, cause his Damage is INSANE, wth.
As a GS main, barioth made me frustrated beyond belief
@@anfani6839 Tbh, hes not even that bad (Its my first time fighting him). Though, he is pretty annoying cuz he keeps hopping around and you cant catch him unless you have a fast weapon. At least his attacks are easily telegraphed.
I'm currently stuck at this mission and it just makes me want to uninstall the game
@@eelshark12345 Just look up early game master rank builds. Especially those with max health boost. Then max upgrade those armors to increase your defence should help you tremendously.

I faced him today and definitely after this monster my HR builds are worthless, all monsters before him were easy but this one took me a lot.
I feel less bad about myself now.. Did it on my second try with zero faint.. I captured it though
Capturing is always my go to because i get to fight it again in the arena lol
@@null6094 capturing is also necessary to unlock arena as finishing all the optionals also needs you to finish all the arena quests as well, and doing is required for end game quests that check whether you finished all optional quests or not

As someone who farmed barioth in older games like there was no tomorrow, he was actually pretty easy.
I find it much more dangerous in Generations Ultimate. But after that maybe I would put the one from Iceborne,he moves a lot and is fast but Barioth was always like that, third place to the one from Rise which also has a couple of moves that took me by surprise at Master Rank... And finally I put the 3rd place 3Ultimate and Portable 3, I think there is the simplest version of this monster. Although ironically in those games there is the sandy Barioth subspecies and I do consider that to be much, much more than the normal Barioth.
Why is barioth so hard I need sum tips I'm not a mh veteran
I know I'm late but also make use of traps and flash pods to keep the guy still, especially if you're using something like the Greatsword or Charge Blade
If you use insect glaive, get viper tobi kadachi one, it has paralysis, so you get better window of attack, worked for me at least

It was not fun. Not a single moment of fighting it was fun. Bitch kept jumping everywhere, every second, at Warp 10.
I spent over 20 minutes just trying to evade him. He's aggressive as fuck, and I kept screaming "WHEN THE FUCK DO YOU CALM DOWN?!"
I imagine his fucking blade arms and tail are the key to making him slow down but he was stil pretty fucking quick, at least for me. Never fucking stops.

This monster is so freaking annoying. Poison seems to humble it and is really the only good time I can get dmg off on his front legs or tail. And maybe I'm crazy but after I clutch claw to the tail and atk, it seems that once they leave the area, that area where I did the dmg gets healed. I've worn the tail out only to see it looking good as new when I catch up. I first noticed that when I hunted master rank tobi kadachi. I find it so hard to cut off their tails now.

I really hated this guy,both in tri and iceborne but after some thinking i actually really enjoy almost everything about him. His fight is cool almost always a wall in every game hes in and his design is pretty cool

Those pounces he does do a lot of damage. And he's very aggressive. It can be a challenge, if you've never fought him before.
