The way this film was made could be motivation for any aspiring filmmakers. The UA-cam short "Lights Out" was filmed in one night with no budget in the director's own apartment and one actress, and it was so powerful that he picked up a movie deal.
As an adult who is STILL terrified of the dark, this movie scares the crap out of me even though i’ve seen it several times! Every time i even remember it exists, i’m scared for at least a week all over again😂

The final parts of this movie is so thrilling, I remember when everyone was so silent in the theater because they were glued to the screen. And also one of the reasons as to why I become a horror movie fan 😭
Diana in Lights Out always gave me the same impression of the Vashta Nerada in Doctor Who "Silence In The Library" & "Forest of the Dead"
"Every Shadow? No, but any shadow"
Only real difference between the two, Vashta Nerada feed primarily on roadkill but when they don't have that and are starving, they get any meat they can [which is why events in the 2 part episodes happen]. Diana just kills anyone who gets near and poses a threat to her relationship with the mom. Diana is only 1 but Vashta Nerada are a whole species that live in billions of planets & galaxies.
my mother will NEVER forgive me for making her watch this with me. she slept with her lights on for a week after😭😭😭😭

I remember watching this one in the cinema with my mum, and in one of the scariest scenes, a security girl from the cinema was downstairs on the stairs looking out at the audience (the place was pitch black) and my mum said to me: Ava look down there... imagine I almost shit myself.
