I will say the whole "grandpa left a farm behind for you" isn't particularly a unique story line to Stardew it was used by the Harvest moon/Story of seasons developers long before Stardew came out so I wouldn't really consider it an aspect to be knocked off.

Stardew fanatics who didn't witness the pre-Playstation 2 area yell at every game that has pixel art, floorboards, and a pumpkin, apple, or turnip, "Stardew RipOff! CA should sue!" There's barely any indie pixel art game out there anymore, especially if it has some kind of management or simulation gameplay aspect, that's safe from the "RIP OFF RIP OFF!" downvotes, I'm honestly waiting for these people to attack videos about games from the SNES area. It's honestly annoying. I love Stardew, I played it since it came out and have over 3k hours on it. It's an excellent game and one of the best in the genre but let's be honest for a second, there are barely original aspects in the game. It's a really Harvest Moon-based game that took all the great stuff from HM, the decent stuff and improved it, and left out the annoying stuff/made it less annoying (even many of the characters are "knock-offs" of HM villagers). It's ridiculous when you see people whine under an indie game that it's a Stardew ripoff because it has pixel art and the inside of buildings has wood-coloured floorboards (no shit, saw that in a comment on Traveller's Rest). It's like someone bakes That Pizza - it's bigger, cheaper, with more cheese, and miraculously healthier but tastes even better than your favourite pizza that you've bought from the store in the past and people not only claim this pizza baker invented pizza, but accuse everyone who makes pizza or any kind of round-shaped food or food with similar ingredients ("Pasta?! This has wheat and cheese and tomatoes sauce, just like That Pizza!") of copying That Pizza.

Hey! I'm the dev of Haystack Village, I really appreciate you playing my game and hearing your thoughts! "Period dream" was hilarious. 🤣I know the game is very rough around the edges right now (I'm a terrible artist), but I'm working on making it significantly easier easier on the eyes, potentially through hiring a more competent artist. My goal with the game is to make a farming simulator with a large narrative focus and horror elements (many of the villagers can die depending on the player's choices), but it certainly has a long way to go. I loved this video, keep up the great work!

i think the art style for the portraits in Haystack Village are SUPER pretty!!! honestly, i would really love to see the game become its own unique thing
Ok as an avid Stardew fan I will applaud it's laurels and all it has achieved, but people need to stop saying "ohhhh where have I heard this story before" when referencing Stardew's plot. Stardew is amazing yes, but not groundbreaking. It rebooted the genre, but harvest moon / story of seasons and rune factory walked so it could run.
Yup, the whole "dead grandpa" storyline was literally copied from Harvest Moon. This video was fun but it was difficult to take Nino seriously whenever he said this nonsense.
To be fair to Haystack Village and their grandpa story line, Stardew Valley took that plot line almost to the beat from Harvest Moon. So, these knockoffs using the grandfather’s farm storyline could just be copying the original farming simulator, Harvest Moon.

When you're french your gameplay of the first one is hilarious! I still don't want to play this game. Also you should know that Stardew Valley wasn't available in french for 2/3 years and a team of fan did a patch so french people who didn't not understand english could play and they weren't paid. Maybe out of frustration we got our own game lol
The agony in your voice during all of the intro scenes had me flashing back to watching my friend beat Metal Gear Solid 4. It was eventually 3am, and we were begging the cutscenes to stop so we could be done. Stardew's story elements and character stuff might be on the simple side, but at least you can interact. Moving from the big city to a small town has been around alot longer than stardew valley though harvest moon is alot older than stardew valley and thats also the plot of harvest moon
I have a tv and on the main menu for the Tv there’s a knock off but you build the village and you just can’t talk to the villagers, I spent hourss on my village before I bought Stardew. And now I spend hours on my farm and Haley
LMAO I dont even like my hairstyle a lot of the time😅 This will be long because there arent a lot of good tuts on youtube so ill try be descriptive. SO my hair cut was just some choppy af homejob layering and then grown out. If you have thick hair then I recommend to NOT wash your hair that often, obv stay hygienic but you dont need to wash your hair every day! I wet my hair then ruffle it with a towel till damp, then go through with a tiny bit of wax to add some hold (otherwise my hair goes into a bowl cut shape). Then I get a hair dryer and a thermal hairbrush and roll the sides of my hair up in the hairbrush while blow drying close to the brush at a medium heat to get that curl up look, then after that a few spurts of sea salt spray and ruffle my hair with my hands!

Harvest town is a genuinely good mobile alternative to stardew, and there’s no mention of a grandpa owning the farm before you so it’s not haunted!
