Yeah, Julius was an idealist but not an Idiot. He is actually a rather decent character when you get his story proper even knowing acting how he did "the brave unshakable hero" would get him killed young the moment he ran into something stronger than him. Yet he felt giving his one life in exchange for all the people he could save by standing tall even when running might be in his best interest was something worth doing, the sacking of Vampy's home town - the horrors of war that happened to it he blames on himself for having failed to take a stand or even consider what his siding with the attacking army meant. Julius was the type who knew he would die and decided being an actual hero "a symbol of hope amidst the evils and savagery of the world" was worth his life saving the many his fighting would spare cowering behind him. Shun is just starstruck blinded without even knowing the reality of Julius' grim resolve, would Julius have run from Sophia in Shun's situation? No however he would have certainly been urging his companions to flee as well as actually having a discussion with the chatty super vamp instead of yelling emotional bile and swinging a sword around like a club.

Julius was a real hero though. He grew with his every mistake and honestly he was one of the best written "Hero" characters I have ever seen. Not to mention, he was also a man of culture. You know guys, it kind of feels like Shun is trying to be a protagonist, idk how to feel about that honestly. Also even Luffy knows when it's time to retreat and Luffy takes on foes not because "he has to" but because he wants to.
Same thing with Goku from DBZ. That dude loves fighting more than anything so much so that he's willing to abandon his friends and family often for months or sometimes years at a time, to train to get stronger so he can fight stronger opponents. Yet even Goku knows when it's time to retreat and regroup, when he realizes he's fighting a losing battle. Luffy either fights people because he wants to and thinks it will be fun or because they hurt or threaten his friends, hes pretty much the definition of chaotic neutral. He doesnt fight because its the right thing to do, and sometimes he even turned away from situations where people are in trouble cause he can’t be bothered. Honestly, the only reason the previous Heroes beat the Demon Lords was because of the special perk the title gives them. If it was strength and skill, then the Demon Lord would win every time. The Hero going against someone who outclasses all the previous Demon Lords when they don’t have the Demon Lord title? Nah, that ain’t happening.
That’s because his hero title/skill is only useful against people with the Demon Lord title/skill. Other opponents would always have the upper hand because they don’t have that handicap.
@@michaelirazori9214 Don't confuse titles with skills. They're two seperate things. A lot of people can have a hero/demon lord skill. Only one person can have the hero/demon lord title. The hero title only works against the demon lord title, not the skill.

@@dungeonguy88 Also the authors hatred towards the hero trope, which denies Shun of any character development at all. Honestly, the author sucks for being so pathetic and ruining the entire human side just because of this.
@@Darthrath666 I'd disagree with that assessment. So, I'm a Spider, so what? is meant to be a deconstruction of the classic Isekai genre, breaking down and pulling apart the cliches common to that kind of story. And part of a deconstruction usually lies in pointing out how unrealistic certain ideas or behavior in a story really is. To that end, having an in-universe reason for why an otherwise intelligent and educated young man suddenly is trying to act like a stereotypical hero is a part of that. Shun's behavior doesn't make sense for a regular Japanese student that's been thrown into another world. But that's how he would act as a protagonist in a normal Isekai story. And so this story actually looks for and provides a reason for why that is.
Fun Fact, the Katana that the blond one is wielding was made by Kyouya. He lost it, some adventurer got his hands on it, who then trained the two reincarnations.
I dont understand why he question his friend why they sided with the elves. They attacked his kingdom, killed his brother, killed his father, mind control his sister. And he has the audacity to ask why you sided with the elves.
It's a big deal in the sense that Shun didn't know what happened to his best friend. And for his backstory (and Sophia's) you'll need to wait season 2 (if there'll be one) and Kyouya's backstory is the best of the show (in my opinion).

You know guys, it kind of feels like Shun is trying to be a protagonist, idk how to feel about that honestly. Also even Luffy knows when it's time to retreat and Luffy takes on foes not because "he has to" but because he wants to.
Luffy also has excellent, finely honed battle instincts and an imaginative way of using whatever live gives him.
Shun needs to learn that because his gung ho attitude isn't going to fly against Kumoko, who's literally been training since birth in that new world to strategize during combat on the fly..
Strong and/or wise people know their limits, weak and/or stupid people don´t.
Shun is trying to be the traditional hero of “fight to the last breath for what is right” even though that doesnt work unless you have plot armor or are unbelievably powerful and don’t have to compromise your beliefs to win. Shun has neither which is why he seems pathetic
@@RainbowAnimeCupcake I think what also hurts shun is oka literally told him not to get too strong yet he never once questions it. shun is only relevant cause he has the hero title. but even with the hero title he stands no chance 1v1 sophia or wrath

Also at the end of the episode, we see the woman in white ( I think it’s Kumoko) going to the area where Shun and the gang are. Does that mean that we’re going to get another class reunion? Well if anyone does remember her real name
Yeah, the Hero Title that Shun has is influencing his soul and personality warping his mind to be more fitting hero. You can kind of see it in how most of the others are somewhat more practical about this whole fight and are open to just walking away.
And so this story actually looks for and provides a reason for why that is.
the white woman is kumoko
@@danielharaoui143 👀 *spoiler*
1:54 that's exactly what someone who's guilty would say immediately right after something is explained.
did anyone else notice that at 1:18 there is no movement animation when wrath moves his head it just snaps to the next location
Oh my God lol
I really hope the last episode is focused around Kumoko rather than the lowly humans
It will
The best character of the series so far
I love that they are acting all Chuunibyou while Kumoko is just out chilling having fun!
😳 She’s more chunni than any of them! 😂
@@coltonwilliams4153 nah, because she is fully joking, they are all dead serious.
I’m gonna really start watching this show now, that kyouya guy is so cute
He apologizes for put them in a losing fight where they gonna die and 5 seconds after they left the fight he puts them back XD
I enjoyed this episode only because of Sophia and Wrath destroying the human group in an emotional way
Fun Fact, the Katana that the blond one is wielding was made by Kyouya.
He lost it, some adventurer got his hands on it, who then trained the two reincarnations.
It's not the same Katana. It was made from a dragon.
@@groudonvert7286 Really? Has been a while since I've been at that part in the story.
@@jf_kein_k8590 If I remember correctly, they say that in episode 21.The girl's staff is also made from a dragon.
@@groudonvert7286 Nope, all Katanas in the world were created by Kyouya, they only imbued some electric stuff on it
@@leonel392 i don't see why they should all be created by Kyouya, he's not the only japanese in the world XD
I dont understand why he question his friend why they sided with the elves. They attacked his kingdom, killed his brother, killed his father, mind control his sister. And he has the audacity to ask why you sided with the elves.
The true male protagonist appears
Lol
This episode made it see like this kyouya reveal was a BIG DEAL, maybe tell us who he was and his background first
It's a big deal in the sense that Shun didn't know what happened to his best friend.
And for his backstory (and Sophia's) you'll need to wait season 2 (if there'll be one) and Kyouya's backstory is the best of the show (in my opinion).
Yeah shun‘a mentioned him a lot so far, he’s the other guy who hung out with him and kanata
@@groudonvert7286 Seeing how much attention this adaptation is getting, it seems likely a season 2 is on the horizon.
@@joshuagross3151 I hope so... and hope that it will get a better studio.
@@groudonvert7286 I hope that they now are getting a bigger budget to work with
And D is here watching with a bucket of popcorn.
Can't wait for next week episode, WHITE time to shine
Geez... I had high hopes for this LN adaptation. But the inconsistencys (2D-3D compositions in the same frame, different dimensions for the same character, terrible camera compositions in the last couple of episodes) rly depressed me 😔
Honestly, the first half of this season was pretty enjoyable and it made me excited for the second half, and now I have not watched the last couple of episodes because I just can’t handle how poorly animated this is. Characters are literally just being dragged across the screen at points, which is honestly unacceptable, it probably would’ve been way higher quality if they did what Slime did and decided to put more than a week or two break between the two parts and instead did a month or two break.
They had some serious issues finishing this episode that caused a delay that's why the quality has been so low
THE MAN. THE MYTH. THE LEGEND. WRATH HAS ARRIVED WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Shun: I'm the protagonist! And it is my duty, my destiny to win! >dramatic music
Kyouya: Oh hey guys.
Imagine the demon army shock if they saw what our favorite Spider protagonist is capable off
Or just Ariel ^^
@@groudonvert7286 Ariel?
@@xer-xglitchasmodeussinoflu2068 the demon lord
@@groudonvert7286 Expect they don't have what other most isekai protagonist has like our spider protagonist
I'm sure that at least the members of the 10th army know that already.
They are in a new world which they don't understand a lot of things about and instead of trusting your friend and trying to undestand him they all just team up with elves
The fight went to 2D to 3D then the camera panned back and forth
Feels good coming back to these comment sections and seeing how everyone hated the "Shun and company" episodes
I’m so excited for the next episode
You won't get any answers trough. Wait for 2nd and 3rd seasons.

I'm just waiting for Shuns sister to pop up again, that the only part of the human side I actually found funny.
I love this anime so much ❤
And that's the last we'll be seeing of this timeline, for at least until the end of season 2. It's quite the cliffhanger.
Nah, there'll be a little more next week with the biggest reveal (that most people would have suspected).
HaHa!...There it is...There the look of shock & Surprise I wanted to see on shun and kanata's faces, when they found out their Best Friend is on the "enemies" side.
i think its funny that ms,oka brings up the administrators like they are plotting something but aren't they basically gods?
Yes, and they are, but not what she thinks they are
Tbf Shun has a massive lack of information and the demons are 100% the bad guys to him especially saying he's one of the good-hearted hero types. If anything if there's an idiot to blame it should be Oka
And if they had just listened. They could have saved themselves so much trouble. Never once did they question the Elves or their motives, with any serious thought.
I normally would take the side of the heroes but im more in a neutral team right now
i dont care who wins as long as Kumoko survives
To be honest, from a completely neutral, uninformed perspective, the elves are completely shady, and the demons are evil. If I had to chose, I’d seriously go with Hyrince’s plan and bail after killing Hugo. Everything else is a whole lot of not my problem.
Oh you're gonna have to take sides eventually :)
@@coltonwilliams4153 Yeah, the Demons are mostly coming across as Evil because they aren't really explaining their position at all. Most of the Demon forces are as ignorant of what's going on as Shun. Meanwhile, Sophia, Kyouya, and the other top members that know what is going on aren't really inclined to explain themselves or explain themselves poorly.
@@dungeonguy88 In their defense, not only are they constantly being interrupted, but the vampire countess and the oni berserker aren’t exactly sane. Kinda gets in the way of giving decent explanations.
@@coltonwilliams4153 That's true. Most of the characters that know what's actually going on have various issues that make them...bad at actually explaining what's going on. Mostly due to their deeply-seated psychological issues.

In this world it translates to "BAAAKAAA!" 😁😁

Love how the elves are the actual bad guys
I have to admit I'm not really interested in the other characters I only want to see what happens to the spider.
I bet you´re not alone there. I started watching because the aspect of a person reincarnating as a spider which has to overcome its limits again and again to survive is much more interesting to me than the typical "hero chosen one" we normally see.
Do you want to see what happen to her in the present (after-cast scene) or in the past?
@@93Chowo well, that overcome thing ends here. In seasons 2 and 3 you will see big politics/strategies + drama/tragedy.
