Why do kids born into poverty with no future prospects, no support, and no realistic way, out act like this? I guess we’ll never know.
I’m black and it’s currently because of drill culture, the music is evil and infectious…it makes the children hunt each other down and try score points, even in posh areas like Cheshire.
@@rFuzzyBearXdrill, video games, heavy metal, horror movies etc etc same nonsense as excuses. If those kids had something to lose like a future they would be less likely to commit those crimes.
@AOK342 This! Drill music is a symptom of the problem and not a cause. These kids have zero hope, no aspirations, no future and no opportunities.
As someone from a low income background I completely agree with @AOK342. When you feel like you have a future or something to lose in the future it keeps you centered and on the right tracks. However, this isn't just an issue of giving the children something to lose but making the parents feel that way too. Only when conditions within impoverished communities improve will you see a cultural shift in the working poor of the UK.

Drill music has only really been around for the past 10 years. Youth murders have been endemic for much longer so logic tells us that drill music is not the cause.
14 years austerity has to have had an impact on this.
Yep, kids used to be able to go to youth centers and learn life skills from other kids, but there have always been bad kids and there always will be.
Seriously? Blame the Tories for children who have no respect, fear or decency. Blame the parents and the children themselves.

@@Mr_Resetof course they did, and there are isolated cases going back even further than 14 years, but the point was about austerity having an impact on that standard today. Kids have had (as someone else said) youth centres shut down, their education budgets cut, their job prospects thrown at the window, their higher education becoming unaffordable as more and more families are pushed below the poverty line.
Go take a look at the figures for children living in poverty today vs the 14 years ago and tell me there is no correlation on the increase of juvenile crime.
This is the problem with this country. Excuse after excuse after excuse. They're 12 years old! Thry know that killing someone is wrong!!!

I mean, at 12 you know killing is bad. So they do need to be punished. The issue is what do we do with you at 12? I mean we can't just put them in prison forever, that's unacceptable.
Of course We cant jail them forever..... just for 30 yrs.😊... that kid goes in at 12... gets released at 42! Still enough time to get a job b4 the age of retirement!😂
25-30 years and then they should have to pay the victims families out of their wage packet every month till they retire.
They knew what they did and the gravity of the situation. Going to the lengths they did to hide and destroy evidence demonstrated that as do the messages they sent each other after the event.

You'd most likely have to be a psychopath to do something like this though. A life has been lost forever and that life and the safety of other innocents matters more than the murderer.
If the person is assessed as being a psychopath, I don't think they should be released after killing someone.

@funtimes7757 No, but there's nothing for kids to do, so a small minority will go of the rails. We had youth clubs, boys and girls clubs, sports fields, and after-school projects to keep us busy and out of trouble. These kids don't even have teachers, their school are falling down, and school fields have been sold off, so have all the youth centres. Some apples will go bad

My son is 21, when he was a baby there were Sure Start Nurseries, places you could go with pre-schoolers to interact, they were amongst the first social programs to close under the Conservatives, this is the society they wanted.
My son is 11 and he knows full well its wrong to take knife out to play and stab someone.
It’s just down to a lack of discipline and morals. Too many parents and teachers just not installing morals. You see it everywhere. Kids screaming at their own parents. They just seem to believe that they can do as they like without criticism or consequences.
Too much emphasis on individual rights over the rights of others. Of society.

My local library and youth club only reopened after the tories lost their seats and Labour took over.

Remember when children 13 and under couldn't be charged with a crime? It was reduced to 10 years old so Jamie Bulgers killers could be prosecuted, back in 1993.
Yet they raised the legal working age. Why don't kids work anymore?

Poverty is no excuse. Previous generations from poor backgrounds never did these things. 12 year olds are criminally responsible for their actions. What is different? Previous generations had discipline and no internet and no mobile phones.

12 year olds don't really know what they are doing without adult guidance. They can't bring themselves up. The idea that they can hide things and clean things doesn't convince me otherwise. Squirrels can do that too. This is a failure of adults one way or another imo

A lot of people blame poverty for this. I just don’t think that is the case. They are just evil kids. There are people in this world who are born more evil than others, and they hang out with other evil people.

Knowing what you’re doing and understanding the consequences of what you’re doing are entirely different things. This is the same argument that looped over and over about the Bulger killers. We should have “learned lessons” way back then but ended up too caught up in this very same argument. Kids at that age don’t have a concept of life and death. If you want to be constructive have a conversation about how and why these kids were like that and what needs to be done to prevent it, instead of engaging in the most pointless debate that goes nowhere.
