Happy 29th Birthday Uzazi

Uzazi is celebrating his 29th birthday! The keepers at Rolling Hills Zoo treated Uzazi on his special day with sweet potato, hay-filled boxes and a special “grain cake.” He also received a new blue barrel to play with in his yard.
White rhinos, like Uzazi, are the second largest land mammals after the elephant, with adult males tipping the scales at a massive 3.6 tons! The white rhino is known for its wide, square upper lip which helps in grazing. They are the only grazers of the five rhino species. The white rhino has two horns with one being shorter than the other, and they originate from Africa, in the long and short-grass savannahs.
Once almost on the brink of extinction, rhinos are still at risk due to poaching for their horns, illegal trade and habitat loss.
