The remake is so forgettable. It reminds me of the Hitcher remake where the changes made it less impactful. The original is just so weird. With Gage, the movie went up to 11.
The only thing I'll say in defense of the remake is the all of the deleted/alternate scene& alternate final act would've actually made it a better flick. What we got was a dull play it safe film. Also I'm with Lance, Pet Sematary 2 is fun 90's cheese 🤘
Yeah, I watched the theatrical cut and was like, meh. But then I watched the alternate ending and I genuinely don't get how that wasn't the real ending. It doesn't make the rest better but it's something interesting at least.
@@dash4800 all the deleted scenes&alternate scenes should've been used, especially the alternate ending & Judd telling the Timmy Baterman story definitely would positives.
I read the book in 7th grade. (Because that needed to be in my classroom) There was this great nightmare sequence where the father dreams the boy lived, and became a swimmer in college. Blood starts pouring out of his swim cap. Yeah…….it’s pretty fucked up. (Spoiler) The book ends on a cliffhanger. The dad plays solitaire on the kitchen floor and the door opens, you just hear the wife say, “Darling……” Clancy Brown is the only reason to watch the sequel. I went to a horror convention when the movie came out, there were a group of kids walking around wearing the masks beating on drums like in the trailer. That was pretty boss.
Ugh, terrible remake. Played it too safe as well, by switching the kids. I want the 2 year old demonic little shit from the book, not another boring creepy 10 year old.
Everyone in this movie was bland, it was just boring and pointless. It didn't add much new or different to it. I love the original but I agree it can be boring. but the 2019 remake in my opinion is very very boring.
I love the book. It's my favorite King book. I hate the original movie. It squandered all the great moments from the book. I didn't bother watching the remake because it looked so bad from the trailer. I probably will give it a shot at some point. Pet Sematary falls into the I Am Legend category of adaptations. It should be a slam dunk to adapt this book into a film but people keep screwing it up.
I saw the original Pet Sematary in the movies as a kid. It was so scary in the theatre, and Gage was the best. I love the original, and I have never found it boring. Pet Sematary 2 was just ok, it was entertaining back then. But the Pet Sematary remake was the worst movie ever, I saw it in an empty theatre. I lost 2 hours of my time, I will never get back. The changes in the movie were not good. I dont know if Pet Sematary Bloodlines will be any better.
I recently rewatched the original and as much as it hurts me to say it...hasn't aged all that well. Don't get me wrong, I still technically love it but it's probably far more sentimental based than true merit. With that said, this remake was pure rotten trash. I could barely sit through it. I kind of hate all the Stephen King remakes though. Even some of the more popular ones. Flatter than a plate of piss, as the old timers would say.
i did like some of the little changes they made, like making it the daughter instead of the son. The CGI in this was god awful though...that realm they went to looked horrendous and something like 90's myst.
I saw the remake theatircally, and for the most part I remember enjoying it. Wasn't the best movie I've seen on the big screen, but wasn't the worst either. As for the original, I really enjoy it, felt it was creepy and worked well enough. I will say I haven't read the book, so I can't compare it to it. However I will say the end credits song by the Ramones, good song but just felt very out of place for the movie. Then the 2nd, well what can be said that hasn't been said before, good dumb fun.
I didn't hate the remake but only seen it at the cinema I like the first 2 movies and felt we didn't need the remake . I didn't think it was bad just not needed but I am interested in the prequel series
Well here's where they screwed up Ryder gate why does it have to be a remake? Just make it another sequel but happens what 30 years later or something you ain't got to try to erase what's come before
The remake was not terrible. Lots of changes from the original, that being said I think the original is much more creepier. Really good score by Elliot Goldenthal.
I loved the original movie. There was much more familial emotion in the first film. Dale Midkiff was excellent in the first movie. This remake had some creepy scenes but other than that I found it rather hollow. I loved the book. Now they're remaking Salem's Lot. Leave it alone! Can't Hollywood do anything other than horror remakes?
I watched the remake at my local cinema it's an appalling remake/adaptation. If memory serves the producers are woke idiots and refused to refer to the burial ground as an Indian burial ground. Absolutely pathetic.
The wendigo is talked about more in thr book so it makes sense to be in thr movie .. that’s literally like ONE cool thing about the absolutely abysmal remake … the 1989 movie is a million times better
I’ve always favoured the original, even though aside from Fred Gwynne, who’s role is just iconic. It just has this bleakness to it. The remake lost that. Part 2 is probably the best out of all of them, but there’s too much animal murder for my taste.
It you think the first movie was boring, read the book. I love Kings work, but the book is so slow and boring. It doesn’t get good till the end when you start finding out its a demon or wendigo.
I'm a fan of the original. Pet Sematary 2 is braindead (no pun intended), but entertaining. The remake was not a good movie. The best thing about it was John Lithgow.
Yeah, that 2019 remake, for me, failed in every way possible, in that it was just completely forgettable. Lmao, most of the scenes you guys discuss in this video, i don't even remember, as it made that little of an impression on me! The original Pet Sematary certainly isn't the greatest film, but boring it is not. It was, for me, & many others, too memorable, to be boring. Gage was definitely awesome, in the first flick, & Ellie was....... eh. The actress tried her best, but failed, unfortunately. Best performance was definitely from John Lithgow. One of the very few things i do remember about this flick. Honestly, i'd give a 6 to the original, & a 3, to this remake.

Pet Sematary 2 was fucking awesome! The remake was...okay. The OG was fine. It was fine.

Yeah, this remake was pretty awful all around. I much prefer the original. Pet Sematary 2 is a fun movie. I dig that one 👍.
I'll be honest. The sequel is a gem. Guilty pleasure. Mostly because of Clancy f-n brown.

The best part on the first movie is when the little brat got hit by the truck 😅
John Lithgow should've won a razzie, his performance is so bland and boring, especially compared to Fred Gwynne. Obviously phoning it in.
i did like some of the little changes they made, like making it the daughter instead of the son. The CGI in this was god awful though...that realm they went to looked horrendous and something like 90's myst.
I did like that, but they ruined the surprise when they put it in the trailer. Why would you do that?
The undead child should have been channeling O'Bannon's ROTLD by saying they don't belong here and the only way to peace is sacrifice.
I found the original boring as a kid, didn't mind the book but I don't have an interest in seeing the remake. Great video as always though 😊 🐾 💜
Thanks buddy

The original is always a good choice for me and just leave at that growing up owned it on VHS letter DVD & now Blu Ray

Original is so good , imagine saying the 2nd one is better . 1st pet cemetery is a masterpiece

Lance sounding like a boomer
Pet Semetary 2 sucks.

I wanted a prequel film, about the veitnam vet.🪖
