Beautiful, simple, and pure class. Waiting on mine to come in. The SBGW231 is now discontinued by GS. This is GSs homage to the PP Calatrava. Note, alligator strap with buttery soft calf leather on the back.
Congrats man! Beautiful watch! I would recommend trying it out on a leather strap as well - I think this watch was made to be worn on leather, in my opinion. That being said that beads of rice bracelet looks great!
Serious piece of equipment. This is a watch in it's purest form and I'm saving money for getting one too. The strap feels like it's calf because the touching part of it IS calf leather. It's just the part that's wrapped around the padding which is aligator. I think they did this because calf leather is regarded by majority as the softest and most comfortable to wear. Take good care, and enjoy this stunning watch :)
I frankly dont like mine: there are no micro adjustmenets and is quite a flimsy bracelet given already on a flimsy dress watch - felt it to be much more secure on a seatbelt nato!
Hi, did you specially order the BoR bracelet for your W231? Cos from what I understand the BoR is standard for the W235 but the W231 comes with a leather strap only…
@@Mil-SpecWatches I sold it not long after getting it in. Although gorgeous It felt a bit too dressy fragile to my routines. I cant get used to the design of GS divers 😅. They got too much going on
Oh wow we've got pretty similar taste, I'm currently contemplating between this and the Black Bay 36.... any more thoughts/comparisons between the two? I know you mentioned liking the rounded case sides of the SBGW231.
Hi Thomas! Indeed; I'd definitely recommend BB36 if it's going to be your only/first luxury watch, due to its superior water resistance and versatility. If you've already got a good daily driver, the GS could fill the role for a haute watch on a budget
@@oddpout I decided to pick up the BB36 (black dial) today from my local AD! I actually really like the flat case sides, has a very solid tank-like feel to it with some nice polishing as well (though not GS Zaratsu level). Looking forward to seeing what you pick up next!
That’s a 231 on a beads of rice bracelet. The 235 has a blue second hand and a slightly creamier coloured dial but comes standard on the beads of rice bracelet

You’re definitely right about the leather strap. Once you break it in, it’ll be waaaay more comfortable. It’s like breaking in a new pair of jeans!
Thanks for your review. Didn't realise how great it looks on a bracelet.
Great watch. You have excellent taste.
Thank you for the kind words :- )

Thank you! I ended up having it on a seatbelt grey nato the most, but will give leather a try
Pure class brother
I have the same model it is a really piece of art I bought a hand made calf leather strap for it with white stitching and it is mint. Cheers

I love mine. How do you like the bracelet? How big is it? Thanks.

Hey! I bought the watch preowned and it came with the bracelet. You can request for it separately at GS boutiques
@@oddpout I see. Before your purchase did you consider the W235 versus the W231? I’m currently in such a dilemma…
You still have this watch? What do you think about the Grand Seiko divers?

@@oddpout I hear ya. What about the GS Divers with the high beat Automatic movement, no Spring Drive indicator clogging up the dial.
A fellow Rengoku fan. I like it! Just as much as that watch :)
How your size wrist
4300 Euro? I love this model
Kyoujurou from Demon Slayer Combined with finest watch from Traditional Japanese Maker 😉

That's great news 🤩 I'm very happy for you! And yes it is a perfect perfect watch, I'm sure you will thoroughly enjoy it!
I really like this reference, haven't been able to find one with the bracelet, did you get it separately?
The 235 comes with the bracelet, you can find the bracelet separately through seiya I believe
Thanks I’ll look into that reference, beautiful piece
235 or 231?
That’s a 231 on a beads of rice bracelet.
The 235 has a blue second hand and a slightly creamier coloured dial but comes standard on the beads of rice bracelet
Where do you get the steel bracelet?
Hi, I bought this watch second hand, but you can find them online or ask your local GS dealer to source one for you!
Nice video, although you could use more light.

Where did you get the bracelet?
Hi David, I bought it used and the watch came with the Bracelet. However, your local GS authorized dealer should be able to source one for you
