Thank you. I'm looking at the SBGX347 which is the 34mm quartz version of this watch. I think it would suit you very well as the smaller size is a good look for this style of watch. But I would guess from your videos you prefer this size with more presence. I think the SBGX347 is a little over priced so I'm keeping my eye out for a good price on a used one. You mention you prefer color so the SBGX349 is the blue version of the watch I'm talking about.
Hey there, thank you for the kind comment! It's funny you mention those watches because I'm keeping my eye out for good deal on them too! I've had them on wrist many times and they wear a bit larger than the 34mm diameter would suggest 😀
Nice review! I have both the old-branding SBGW035 and SBGJ001 and admire your taste in Grand Seikos. I find the simpler hands and indices of the W035/W231 are much more reflective than the more complex ones of the J001, do you find that? Edit: I’m in the US and to get the W035 I had to buy it from an AD in Japan. I think PR complications are better on automatics than handwinders, since I wind mine daily and so know they always are at full wind. But if you don’t wind daily, I see your point. Keep up the great reviews please.
Very nice, really very nice and it got the right dimensions. No date is a plus, the dial is not cluttered and that crown, wow, simply amazing ! Although a dress watch, the crown makes it casual as well and of course the strap variation. The domed crystal and dial are perfect. Love the strap, looks like raw skin, really amazing. Thank you for the review, I've been looking the GS lately, I don't own any and looking for an entry model. This might as well be my starter.
Very nice review. Based on your comments, do you think the sbgw235 may be a better fit for someone looking for a one watch collection? I am asking because with the blued seconds hand one may be able to dress it down or up a little bit easier. Don´t you think?
Hmm, yes definitely. I'd prefer the SBGW235 as a better candidate for a single watch. However, I'm not sure how much water activity you would have. I wouldn't swim with either the 231 or 235. The 235 is just more visually pleasing to me 😄
@@engineer_wannabe sorry, you are totally right, neither could take a swim lol. But yes, I would preffer the 235 aswell. Thank you so much for answering, you have an amazing channel. Greetings from Colombia
Lovely piece. Honestly thinking of pulling the trigger as my very first GS. Do people notice this or give you compliments on this watch? Not that that’s a deciding factor for me, I just wanna know if it gives good wrist presence because it seems like it contrasts your skin very well!
Well, I haven't seen a lot of people this past year so no one has said anything. The only compliment I got on a watch this past year was for the SBGJ201 😅 That suits me though. I prefer it if no one recognizes/notices what timepiece I'm wearing 👍
@@engineer_wannabe ah that’s true! Fair enough because of social distancing and quarantine...but hey that’s the charm of any GS! It flies under the radar and you get genuine compliments from people who know watches...much more fulfilling IMO.
Always appreciate you support, my friend. Yes, the SBGW231 is a little drab but I still really enjoy it. I think the SBGW235 is the one to have though 😁 Talk to you again soon!
How is the accuracy of your sbgw231? I bought one a month ago and it was running fast when dial up so the AD replaced it. The new one is running consistently at +6s a day whether worn or resting but I’ve only had it for a week so hopefully it settles to a bit slower.
So, so close to being perfect for me. The only reason I won’t be picking this one up is that it doesn’t meet the 10 Bar WR that I like to have for a “do anything” watch.
@@denisdaly1708 I have a collection of Seiko’s in the $200-400 range that I use during my active lifestyle; hiking, camping, biking, running, etc. I took my Turtle diving once to say I did it, but a diving computer is x100 more useful underwater. I am saving up for a Grand Seiko that I will treat similar in concept to a Rolex Explorer. A dependable watch that I plan on wearing for the next 20 plus years. I have both my SARB033 and 035 on rubber straps and will give them a good rinse after they are covered in sweat or hiking grime. If I am going to really get muddy or go swimming I wear a G-Shock, but I trust 10 Bar WR to be good for everything short of diving. I respect Grand Seiko too, which why I much rather buy one than spend a similar amount on a Swiss Watch.
@@michaelshurkin613 for me the speedmaster is far more versatile and would be my choice. It’s an absolute strap monster and looks great in the bracelet, leather to dress it up or a nato in the summer. This GS is beautiful, one of the most beautiful watches I’ve seen but for me, it’s probably too smart for my lifestyle. I worry it would spend more time in the box than on the wrist.
I don't like the double marker at 369 and also missing the date luv the lugholes makes it so much easier to change straps anyways grats with a beautiful watch :)

It goes without saying that you should take a look at it in person if at all possible, if you are concerned about it 🙂
@@engineer_wannabe Nice to hear from you and thanks for the feed back. Yeah, not so sure regarding the crown size. I will be looking out for one or a way to get hands on experience with one of them. Thanks for taking the time out to respond. Take care of yourself.
Its amazing how such a small watch has great presence on the wrist.
Gorgeous timepiece, with perfect dimensions, I love the way the hues jumped with the tan/orange strap ! Thanks for the review ❤
Thanks for watching, my friend! It sure is a nice timepiece!
My grail. Thanks. Really enjoyed your video.
Beautiful watch, what kind of watch strap is that orange/brownish strap?
The older versions had a deployment buckle. Wonder why GS removed it in favor of the pin/buckle only?
Great review! Where did you get that 19mm mesh bracelet for this (shown at 7:42)?
