[About this song]
This song is about the Japanese Imperial Army's 64th Flying Squadron, called "Kato's Hayabusa Fighter Wing". It was originally made in February 1940 with lyrics by Rimpei Tanaka and music by Goro Moriya for the 1st Company of the 64th Flying Squadron, but soon became the representative song of the squadron at the request of all the squadron members.

Pre-war Japanese language have already had many loanwords from French, Germany, Britain, it was slightly before the beginning of WW2 (1940 to be exact) that the Japanese government tried to purge loanwords as 敵性語, but obviously you can't just change the general public's speaking habit on a dime so. Engine would be 発動機 if not called エンジン btw.
