- The finale of the Core Set Commander run! I’ve heard Taskmaster is the hardest villain in the box. Will we finally get a real challenge??

So close! Games like this are the best ones.
I didn’t expected the sound effect with the card flip, great touch. Luckily i wasn’t drinking any liquid, or I would spit it everywhere.
About the next games, Green Goblin is one of the toughest villains of all the first season, so have fun! If you are in a mood for a spider villain, maybe try Octopus first. He is usually on the easy side. Baron Zemo is another tricky but still on the easy side villain. Anyway, I only started playing this game later last year and I’m still discovering new heroes and villains.
By the way, I played recently against Ronan for first time (with four heroes, not solo), and I’m not sure if he will work fine in this solo mode. So, don’t be surprised if some villains work better than others in this mode.
Some rules clarifications from BGG’s FAQ are easy to be skipped:
-Thugs are always placed in the locations before the civilians.
-Threat’s bam effects have to be applied in clockwise order starting on the villain location.
-If a bam effect in a threat card is already done, and some effect changes that threat to other location, his bam effect will not be applied again.
-Each location can only be overflowed one time during a villains activation.
I’ll check your MC video too. I played until the Sinister Motives campaign, and I want to return to the game soon. Maybe, watching some of your videos makes me jump to that game again.
Yeeees this game was exactly my speed. Loved the tension!
Haha yeah I like to sneak that kind of stuff in from time to time 😏. If you do check out my Champions content I do a lot of silly nonsense 😆. I highly recommend my 12 Plays of Christmas series I just did in December. Lots of fun plays in there!
Thank you so much for the recommendations! I’ll definitely be coming back to this comment for ideas! And the rules clarifications are super helpful as well, I definitely didn’t know most of those 🙏👍
I think Daredevil is going to be going up against Kingpin next as I totally forgot they were in the game til someone else mentioned it, and I’ve been complaining that they aren’t in Champions forever so I can just enjoy them here!
Then I’m excited to see what Goblin brings to the table 🥶
May have jumped a little with that sound effect I wasn’t ready for…haha. Great game, I love it when games challenge like that! Would love to see more Marvel United game plays!
Haha yeah sorry about that! the moment felt important enough to add a little something special lol
Yeah this one was really fun! Nice to have a little more to think about and have the end of the game actually be in doubt!
Thanks for the kind words and the feedback! There’s definitely more to come! ☺️
Since you said you wish there was a story, from the kickstarter they explain what each character is doing and what things represent:
Taskmaster is a devious Villain, setting traps all over the place and hiding from the Heroes until his master plan is complete. He lays Crisis tokens all over the game, which the Heroes need to deal with before they have any chance of catching him and taking him down. Heroes need to empty a Location before they can disarm the traps there, which makes the job of crisis control extremely tricky. Taskmaster often employs his copycat abilities, using the Heroes’ actions to perform his evil deeds.
The Threats he sets on Locations mostly fills them with all sorts of traps that slow down the Heroes and make it much harder for them to rescue Civilians.
Oh that’s so cool! Thank you so much for sharing that and bringing it to my attention!
I was in the last 2 Kickstarters but I totally never made the connection that the story of the scenarios can actually be found in the Updates! Thanks again!!
I don’t like how there’s a “time limit” 😅 Champions can go on for ages giving the player plenty opportunity to turn the tide. United really stresses you out haha you can feel the urgency which is also cool i guess
Can’t wait for more gameplay, hopefully with Daredevil 😊
Yeah that’s fair. Games in United are surprisingly quick, one way or another. It definitely makes it tense!
Oh my gosh Daredevil!!! That’s such a great idea, I can’t believe I forgot he’s actually in this game! After all my complaints about not having him in Champions I can still play him here. Welp that’s definitely next 😁
Thanks for always having such great ideas!!
@@GetUpandGame you’re welcome Josh! I love Marvel and I love your content so I Am always excited for your playthroughs 😁
And i also cannot wait for Daredevil to show up in MC 🤩
Excellent game! I didn't notice any mis-plays. I'm digging the dual color playmats in your videos! This mode REALLY relies on the team cards so you don't draw yourself out!
Thanks! Oh good 😅. You hate to see a good game tarnished by mistakes
Yeah I’m really liking that too! I bought one for each color of aspect in Champions, but now I kinda want to get a purple and a grey one and I think I’d be set for United too 🤔. It’s fun matching the color scheme of the hero!
It really does. I played an early game of it off camera and I learned that lesson the hard way, that’s why I mention it so often lol
That was such a good game. The best one of the 3 with it being so close. Look forward to the next one
Thank you so much!
I’m really excited for the next one as well, especially since someone contacted me with a really fun upgrade option so it should look even more…..colorful….next time!
@@GetUpandGame well I look forward to it
Fantastic game! I tried him for the first time last night, and got CRUSHED. I was playing black widow and hulk, and got stuck in locations that needed a double movement to get out, and i couldn’t clear the areas quick enough to remove the crisis tokens. Very fun though and I’m gonna try again today.
I’m meeting someone from FB marketplace and I’m picking up the X-men promo box and X Force. I know I could have got it from the kickstarter, but they are both sealed, and he’s charging retail price, so I figured grab it now instead of having to wait a year.
Ooof yeah I can see how that could happen. I think I got super lucky having a location that let me remove crisis tokens, other wise I definitely would’ve ran out of time. I really like how some villains seem to require certain strategies. I actually got to play this with 3 players yesterday and we played Doom. We got crushed the first game , and then we were able to sneak in a win on the second because we learned certain things you need to do not to lose to him. There’s just so much variety in how the villains work, it’s so awesome
Oh very cool! Yeah might as well!
Oh and you should join the Living Card Games discord server! That’s where I spend all of my time, and most of the creators for Champions are in there as well discord.gg/EU5wa4dK
@@GetUpandGame yeah I think you were right when you said you need a lot of heroics. Maybe black widow and hulk we just the wrong pair to go into it with. But I really love how easy, and deep, the game can be
@@GetUpandGame perfect! I’m going to join now!
I like the idea of going through the expansions 👍
Awesome thanks for the feedback! I’m really excited to start digging in and see what I’ve been missing!
In your previous game play, I think you mentioned that when you play a support card that doesn't have a Heroic icon, you automatically get one for free. I just checked the rule book and I don't see you use that in this play through. I am confused, is there such rule?
Oh sorry! Yeah there are these battle plan cards you can choose to include in the Commander solo rules that come with the new Core set in the KS. Unfortunately I don’t have those so I quickly threw up a picture at the beginning of the video, and then mostly forgot about them lol
So I should have been more clear, they aren’t in the rules, that just comes from a Battle Plan card I was saying I was using. There’s a whole bunch of different abilities, but the only ones I can read clearly enough in the rules are the ones I was taking advantage of here. They each have a cost of 1 or 2, and you’re allowed to use up to 2 points worth if you want to based on the difficulty you’re looking for.
So the Heroic Leaning card is 1 cost and gives you the ability to add a Heroic action to a support that doesn’t already have one. And the Change of Plan card is also 1 cost and lets you wipe the support display and refresh it at the end of the villain turn
I wanted to give an update: someone pointed out that I’ve misread the Heroic Leaning Battle Plan card. It actually provides a Heroic action to any support card that ALREADY has a heroic action on it, not to the ones that don’t. I should’ve looked more closely at the blurry image I was able to find lol
Sorry about that!
Wow, you got that just by the skin of your teeth!
Yeah that one was close! And such a better game than the first one so I’m actually glad I screwed it up lol
@@GetUpandGame From here, do you think you'll continue with S1 or move to the X-Men base?
@@ScrewtopReviews my plan was to continue along in S1 but then someone mentioned Daredevil and I was like welp that’s definitely next 😆
After that though I’m thinking Spider-verse. I’ve never played any of that (or most really) and I love me some Spider characters
He's a Season 1 promo so I'd say he counts! Watch out for Gobby. He's tougher than he looks.
@@ScrewtopReviews oh yeah lol, good point!
That’s what I keep hearing! I’m really excited to see what a hard villain looks like
