I used to watch her in the movie with Ken Takakura when I was young. I love that movie very much and it's always in my happy memory. I don't know that she sings very beautifully. I love her voice! Thank you for a wonderful video.
Chieko Baisho sings every songs not only with her transparent voice but also with very beautiful Japanese. In recent days, there is no Japanese singer who can sing like her, However, my another favourite singer is Yoko Maeno, who has passed away 25 years ago.

Thanks for the video. About a week ago I was listening to different versions of "Hamabe no uta" and found Baishio's version the most outstanding. Since then I've been totally amazed by her voice, and the day before I watched a movie in which she starred, "Harukanaru yama no yobigoe." Completely LOVED it!!! I'm looking for its script now since I wanted to know what exactly they say in Japanese in the movie.

これは日本では「愛染桂」として有名な歌で昔夜のゴールデンタイムにテレビドラマで一世を風靡していた物語の「君の名は？」の主題歌だったと思います。それが始まる時間になると銭湯の女湯がカラになった（当時の日本には各家にはまだ風呂がないところが多く銭湯に行くのが一般的でした）と言われる程女性に人気があったとテレビドラマであったと聞きました。（その当時まだ私ま生まれていませんでしたが今93歳ので寝たきりの母から昔聞いた話です。）
