I was having a really hard time in 2020 but that's also the year I discovered BTS and they really helped me get through all that shit. 'Tomorrow' was one of the songs that meant so much to me because even if nothing changed, it felt so good to at least be understood by someone. It always hits me so hard, I think Yoongi's stuff generally tends to be very personal to me when he dives deeper into kinda depressing themes like this. It's not a solo song but you can really feel his influence on it. It really means so much to have someone describe what you're feeling perfectly, makes you realize you're not completely alone.
I just turned 32 this weekend and it really does sneak up on you. It sounds silly but it's like life is like a roll of toilet paper. It seems like it's going really slow at the start but then seems to be running out faster and faster. Tomorrow has been one of my comfort songs for ages now. That and "Paradise" which you'll see on a later album. Capitalism really has brainwashed us into constantly comparing ourselves to others and not knowing peace until we can find some "reason" or "purpose" for our existence (usually in the form of a career). But maybe as humans, we're not meant to have a purpose unless we want one. That peace is realizing we're here for a brief moment on this planet and our only "purpose" is to exist as joyful and peacefully as we can. That we are just a small piece of the universe with the random privilege (or curse?) of being able to observe ourselves existing (and all the anxieties that come with that and knowledge of our own mortality). But then again, could we really appreciate our life if we weren't aware it was finite? A rare and precious thing?
