Thanks for posting! This is my favorite channel for backpacking and hammocking tips. Your explanations are great and your re-enactments are hilarious. I’m using line locks on my tarp and they are great. And I keep my lines attached to my tarp with loops on the ends. Seems to go into a snakeskin just fine. If I want to attach the lines to trees, I use the stake that I would have used as a toggle.
Another good video, Marine. You’re really upping your game. When introducing people to hammocking I like to direct them to your videos as a tutorial. You do a great job sharing a wealth of info in a pretty efficient yet entertaining manner. Keep it up.
I have two trips with Henry coming up. Looks like all of the trees up north are going to be watered again. Thank you Mbarr for watching. I always appreciate it.
I love hardware for car camping, but use knots for backpacking to shave off some weight. I like the idea of some shock cord for the dynema tarp. I have one and the manufacturer instructions say to not pull it real tight as it can damage it. And I wondered about those winds that can suddenly make your tarp tight. I have 2 sets of cordage for my tarps. Reflective for use in campgrounds, and camo for stealthy adventures. I used to have a stuffed dog that was golden yellow with black ears and black tail (and a black belly button) that was named Henry.
Knots are definitely the lightest. But in do like to using hardware. I have two trips planned with Henry. Frist one starting next week. Thank you Jill Marie for watching. Henry really appreciates it.
They really do make set up and take down time a little fast. And the Fleaz weigh less than a gram. Thank you AA1PR for watching. I really appreciate it.
Henry's looking good. All good points. I need a new tarp my superfly is developing some small holes. My have to try that Superior Gear tarp. All my hardware has to keep getting bigger as my hands get worse. Really enjoyed this video. Take care and God Bless, Al
I highly recommend the Superior Shelter. The stakes that it comes with are not the strongest. But they are lightweight and best free. But after using them for two years. They are a little bent. I am going to replace them with those MSR Mini Groundhog. Thank you Al for watching. Always appreciated!
Henry agrees! I never tried the those ringworms, because the Fleaz has worked so well for me. But for dexterity in cold temperatures. Now that is something to look into. Thank you Andremorneault for the heads up. I really appreciate it.
Have you made a bad video?? I always like to attach my lines to the tarp with a taught line hitch....if the weather is bad it means i can tighten up the tarp without going outside and getting wet
He is more interested on peeing on very tree! He wants every animal in Gods great creation to know he was there. Thank you Cvweekendercvweekender for watching. Much appreciated.
Enjoy tinkering too. I use the 2mm bar tensioners Lawson equipment (1.50 each) on all my tarps. I leave my lines on tarp and still wraps up easily snakeskin. I do a constrictor knot on the stake (slips out easily). Using the bar tensioner on tree can help center tarp easily and adjusting tarp slope is easy too ( by shimmy up and down on tree). You should order six and give it a whirl and do a follow up video. Thanks Marine. * constrictor or clove hitch video Faster ways to tie useful knots Junglecrafty
I have a question, why would the Military teach the Army to point the tent steaks towards the tent where Scouting I was taught away from the tent at a 45 degree angle. The Army could never give me a straight answer and while in the Marine Corp after Boot Camp and ITR never used a tent so don't know how they put them up.
When you pull out a stake with the line attached to it. The easiest way is when the line is being pointed at the stake. I am surprised that the Boy Scouts know more than the Army. In the Marine Corps, we would put them at a 45° angle. Thank you SFCRambo for watching. Much appreciated. Semper fi, my brother!
@@AdventureswiththeMarine that is exactly what happen to the other 2 Platoons. I instructed my Platoon to point the stakes away from the tent ant our tents were still up in the morning after a storm hit overnight. Sometimes the Army was to funny, it was a real cake walk compared to the Marines. I learned a lot in the Marines but the Army wanted breaks and other things done before they went to work. Take care Brother there's a storm Brewing.
Thanks, Marine. This old dog may try learning some new tricks. Especially, may look into getting some of the DW fleas. I've known about those for years, but never thought to give them a try. Blessings.
Connecting those Fleaz to the tarp. And the reflective cordage attached to the stakes. That is my favorite way. Quick and simple to set up. Thank you Poppy for watching. Much appreciated!
Thanks brother. I learned this from you a while back and I’ve still been using all these methods. I think they’re still the best. God bless you and your wonderful family. John.
i see your linelocs are pre incorporated into the tarp loops Marine , how would you go about attaching them to loops if you bought them aftermarket? shockcord or some more zing-it?
If you are using a nylon tarp. You just tie them in a loop of 3/32 shock cord and attach them on the D-ring of the tarp. The same way that I shown with the Flyz and Fleaz. I have them separated from the tarp. were I will attach the cordage to the tarp. When I setting it up. The cord is easy to attach to the tarp. Otherwise just leave it connected to the tarp. And use the small loop to attach to the steak. When using a Cuban Fiber ( Dyneema )Tarp. Then I would use Zin-it. Thank you Waynus for watching. Much appreciated!
