Corporals Corner hi Corporal Kelly thank you for a nother great video and I salute ok now a while back you told me you drive a (sick) a Toyota 😂😂😂😆 our hero came in riding a toyota a weak little pony you're to good for a Toyota give it to the wife get a real truck our hero came in riding his trusty steed a strong american built full size truck how about a deuce and a half six wheel drive or a WW2 dodge power wagon now them are real truck's and you would look great on either one or a newer dodge pickup well have a nice day Toyota 😃😃😃😅😅😅😂😂😂😆 🙄 those in the know know both the power wagon and deuce and a half go on UA-cam Corporal Kelly and see for you'r self from the guy's that know C😎😎L
I'm totally loving your toggle system...it's so quick and easy to set-up. It's comparable to the simplicity of the Kephart Spear point knife. In that, it's a design that's been around for Hundreds of years. And it works with out fail. If it ain't broke, don't fix kinda mentality. That what I like...
Hey Lilly!!! Good to see you here! You and Corporal are two of my favorite "survival/bushcraft" channels. I recommend both of y'all to all those who want quality material presented well.
This channel has not only become one of my favorites, it has also become a reference channel for me. So clear, to the point, thorough and concise, with absolutely no filler. And to think, at first all I wanted to learn was about knots.... SALUTE BROTHER!
Thank you, sir, for this great instructional video. Having the military poncho, the woobie and the reflective blanket provides us so much versatility. My loadout always includes these three valuable pieces of gear.
never underestimate the many uses of the military poncho . it keeps you dry , makes a tent , sun blocker, a cover for shooting from concealment, a mat to lay on keeping you dry and mud free, and now it's a quick hammock , and quick take down . in shtf you will need mobility without leaving a footprint so others won't know you are/were in that area . great video.
I really appreciate how thoroughly you convey the details. Taking the time to include the knot instructions from previous videos is a great tool to burn them into my memory. Excellent work. 🇺🇸
...this is fantastic! This is just the type of skill that I look for to teach our older Boy Scouts to keep them engaged and challenged. Another on the "I am definitely sharing this" list. Thanks Shawn...
I know it’s 2 years later but I have to thank you. I’m doing some out of state training missions with the army and I left my hammock back in base and I did not want to buy another one but I do have my poncho and it really does work with 550 cord. Thank you so much!
Excellent instructional video. 45 years ago, I carried 2 ponchos(they were od in those days). We were taught a few ways to use them as shelters but, if you were on guard, you took down your shelter or got wet. The extra poncho made life in the field alot more comfortable. The ponchos also became improvised stretchers using 2 - 10' long bambo poles. Sometimes, we could scrounge up a jungle hammock but some of the officers would confiscate them(the Bn XO usually). A couple of years later when I made 2LT, I just slept in the back seat of my jeep. BTW those ponchos shed part of their rubber layer so I just keep them for sentimental reasons. We had a number of tricks to better our chances and comfort. One I remember, was to squeeze a dressing and a C rat accessory pack into the first aid pouch. If you could get an extra pouch you put a bandage and C rat pack into it. The little pouch on the side of the canteen got the halizone tablets and a p-38.
Thanks for this, I usually use a Wilderness Innovation poncho that is wonderful, and is already designed to be used as a hammock, but it is always good to know how to use a normal (military) poncho in the case of an emergency.
Fantastic setup, great for camping dayuse for a snooze in the shade. As always, thankyou SIR and a salute to you and all the military personnel out there.
Another great video! And a great setup, I really enjoy your videos when you incorporate the poncho and the grabber space blanket . Thanks again looking forward to the next video
Cpl. Thank you for giving the "Mil-Surp/Bushcraft" side to the world of camping and hammocks and tents. I've got a duality of consciousness - I want to use my gear like our brave men and women have done to protect our country - when the higher quality(cost)/lower durability of the upscale items in the civi world may fail. You never fail to have that content. To have already gone out and done what I'm dreaming up - like using my poncho as a tarp, a hammock, a tent. Thank you for your service.
When you are making a truckers hitch you can make it easier on yourself by passing the line through the loop 2x before you start to pull to tension the rope. Great video!
Very good. I also agree that an old or worn poncho may rip or tear. Setting it up relatively low to the ground is a wise precaution. Thank you very much
Awwww, the basic training bivouac. I remember the shelter half we had to lug. Setting up in the deep forest woods of Ft Leonardwood. In hellish rain. After basic training ..went on to do that a bunch of times for Ranger Training.
Great demo of this Shawn! I have been fiddling with this one as well and I am glad you stressed bringing that tag back up to the center. That seems to really be the key to securing it up. I have been using the mule tape and also tried 750 paracord. It is a great emergency technique to own.
It looks like you're close enough to the ground that if it breaks it won't hurt anything. That might come in handy in a have to case to get a person up off the ground. I never have slept in one, it was always on top of the car or in the trunk or whatever was handy, I never had a tarp or hammock with me.
Excellent video! I really appreciate the consistency in your videos. Excellent instruction. I like the video layout, explanations, and also how the skill sets are reinforced (the 10 C's, knot tying, equipment utilization, etc.). Keep up the great work.
Greetings from Canada, 3PPCLI. Great videos. Well thought out and well presented. Always enjoy and learn something worthwhile. Thank you for your service.
I like your videos and that you never assume prior knowledge for any step. how you have simplified the knots and take time to explain them. Have you ever tried using the highwayman hitch and the sheet bend as alternative knots
I’ve used a prusic knot on each end for years. Just make sure you wrap both knots in the same direction around the gathered material. Easily holds 270 lbs.
Your videos are sooo clean in production...and great content...you have convinced me to do the speed ridge line set up....I have a list that I made called presence of mind and it has to do with putting your brain into function right at a SHTF situation of any degree....it could be just as lost in urban or wild conditions and one or the items is can you make a quick camp...which I think from location to shelter to fire spot you want 90 minutes...beat the weather or threat situation. That is “smothin’it” like unreal, and I bet you could now throw that set up against the clock in 15 minutes easy (15 on fire pit spot 15 on wood collection 10min. Fire build....if possible then....eat.).... great vid...Dave C is the man. His advice and showing not only how, but what you really just don’t want to be without in a load out....boy, has he not evolved into his ancestor....for our benefit....Great human.... All the Best Corporals Corner. :>
It was a very well-thought-out video in lot of details and showed the knots again never too many nights duta pathfinding prepping survival I'm in my late 60s but this is really interesting keep up the videos and I'll keep watching you one of my favorite channels. Gingdah 🚶💀
I will have to get one of these ponchos. I have an odd question, How do you keep ticks from attacking you, when you are in the wilderness? Keep up the OUTSTANDING videos.
Corporal, absolutely favor your style, info and delivery over many of the other channels here on UA-cam. Keep up the great work and thank you for what you do!
A good job of improvising. A poncho is indeed a versatile piece of gear. However, as you stated, using one in this fashion will quickly damage it. Since this application calls for another piece of equipment (the blanket), why not just carry a modern parachute material hammock or a net hammock, and then use the poncho as you did the blanket? Then you can spend as much time as needed in the hammock without ruining the poncho. The 2 types of hammock I have mentioned are extremely light, and strong. It will not take up much more space than the blanket and will not weigh much more.

Two weeks and counting, continuing watching all, one word "OUTSTANDING! NO BS.
I love the way you use the same skills in every one of your setups. It makes for a fantastic way to learn and properly survive. Thank you
Love the poncho corner figure eight over the toggle, grommet on top.
Thank you, sir, for this great instructional video. Having the military poncho, the woobie and the reflective blanket provides us so much versatility. My loadout always includes these three valuable pieces of gear.
Its a great setup and idea.. definitely adds another use to an already extremely useful item
I'm sure you've heard this before, but thank you for clearly and concisely showing us the knots you use.

Well done. Ponchos are one of those must haves in a bag and often under estimated on their uses. I have two. Thanks!
Terrific setup for a „quick and dirty“ stop in the rain! Thanks a bunch for sharing...
...this is fantastic! This is just the type of skill that I look for to teach our older Boy Scouts to keep them engaged and challenged. Another on the "I am definitely sharing this" list. Thanks Shawn...
Love it when you show us how to do all the knots each time! It's a good reminder!
I'm getting an honest to goodness education on doing knots. It definitely beats the Boy Scout Handbook. Thanks Marine!

If Hoochology had a Master's Degree, CPL would have a Doctorate.
Again a great job, great comments thank you for your service.

I’m really digging the way you use previous videos to refresh what you’ve already taught, another great system! Thank you👊🏼
I just tried it today with my poncho, It is more comfortable than I expected
Thanks for showing us another great use for the military poncho, your videos are always informative sir.

wilderness innovations makes a nice poncho that has channelled ends, so it can be a hammock. or a chair very easily.
Those ponchos are just awesome.
great content, especially detailing the knots used
AWESOME trick, , you'are a great teacher....thank's for your work
When you are making a truckers hitch you can make it easier on yourself by passing the line through the loop 2x before you start to pull to tension the rope. Great video!
yes, I made that video. Thanks for watching
Handy little setup. Versatile kit and skill set equals many ways to smooth it! Take care.
Another awesome video. I will be using this for my Ridgeline
Yeah... that's was completely amazing. Great motivation every time.
Very good. I also agree that an old or worn poncho may rip or tear. Setting it up relatively low to the ground is a wise precaution. Thank you very much

I am filming tomorrow and will be giving you a shout out, take care and Sweep the Leg...………………….
Just know that it is truly appreciated my friend! Looking forward to the new video as always!
I never go out the wire without my poncho and poncho liner (woobie). Those are the first two things I put in my bag.
It looks like you're close enough to the ground that if it breaks it won't hurt anything. That might come in handy in a have to case to get a person up off the ground. Yeah was gonna say the prolonged use of a poncho as a hammock is a gamble for sure. Nice emergency system though for sure!
Very cool and informative 👏
Take a look at wilderness innovations poncho its a hammock too it has channeled ends . I carry one always
Once again, excellent video, Corporal 😉😁
Love all your videos, man! my favorite channel
