I bought it new on 2000 and still ride it along with my ZZR 1100 (same age). TDM is the best all rounder bike you could ever had.
Zero problems, basic maintenance and you are free to go anywhere.
Got 125k km on clock, beautiful ride, never replaced anything (even my rear shock is the OEM for almost 20 years now.
Perfect brakes (taken from FZR 1000) with brembo pump.
Highly recommended bike for any kind of road.

I really miss my old TDM 850, of all the bikes I have owned that is the one I wish I had kept most. A recent Versys 650 purchase was a serious mistake and bears no comparison - i sold that pretty quick... The TDM 850 was ahead of its time and seriously under-rated. A great bike.

I had the tdm 900 for almost 5 years and I sold it to buy something "faster" 🤦‍♂️ and I went and bought a tuono v2. It's like divorcing your wife to go and live with your side chick, it doesn't end well😂. I stupidly regret it to this day selling my tdm that was a wonderful wonderful bike and could do anything with it

Bought a 900 tdm recently, fantastic bike and I have owned well over 30 bikes incl. R1,gixer 1000,blade gs 1100,transalp ,v strom 1000 fazer thou etc those in the know will understand ,Europe got it years before us blinkered brits obsessed with sports bikes that are far too good for our average abilities....

I stupidly regret selling my tdm 900 to buy a tuono v2. This was 15 years ago and I still can't get over how well rounded the tdm was and could do anything with it but I was young and didn't fully appreciated it's value.

Only bike that fits me. I've had a few and loved them all.

Had a blue / black 1999 one. Great bike. Exhaust rotted out and the sump cracked at a plug. I put a nexxus exhaust on it and got the sump welded. No more issues. Had crakin fun on my TDM 😊

    Just bought a 900 2003 38k 3 owner £1695 from a dealer.
3 months warranty. Ive had 60 bikes in 35 years of biking.
I actually find it quite good. Its not as fast as my previous VFR800 Crossrunner. That was quicker and more comfortable tbm. But that was double the price, very heavy and expensive and awkward to service.
No. The TDM is a good honest bit of kit.
Ive just ridden it 200 miles and for 4 hours.
Seat is good for an hour, 100 miles.
Its my work and cold weather bike. I have another different bike for the warmer day.

Crap road test, reading the owners comments below gave me a better idea of what the bike is like, thinking of getting one as my legs would like a more relaxed riding position.

I would rather ride and buy a Two strokeTDR 250 as they look the same but the 250 is lighter and a lot sportier I can remember they had a TZR 250 YPVS ENABLED engine in a Crosser frame, sorry I am old and the new buzz word is Adventure bike I believe, But alas they have all long gone, been used and abused by my generation lol:)
I like pocket rockets as they have always been fast/less weight/and thus sporty, but the trail/crosser bikes have always had a certain amount of torque/fast on dirt/light and nimble, but the latest crossers, sorry but that`s what they will always be to me, are 1 or 2 cylinder tanks of 1000cc+ and weighing more than a rampaging Holstein Friesian cow on acid.
I for one would not like to go off road and be pinned under one on a failed attempt to negotiate a bog or attempt to ride this latest frankinstein creation across a potato field followed by a ravenous police range rover as the commentator would happily say "and this leary rider is heading for disaster"
PS if you own a big crosser then follow these important steps
1)Practice picking the bike up on your own, half a tank of petrol would help here instead of the 10 gallons a good breakfast should help you here(Weetabix)
2)tell people where you are going, They can search for you without the police or national news coverage saving you the embarrassment you did deserve.
3)Join a motor breakdown service, but don`t expect them to rescue you if you are over 200ft from the public road, FACT.
4)THIS IS OPTIONAL BUT CARRY A FLAIR or alternatively, an Aerosol can based air horn! Similar to them you can buy for football matches.
This LAST one is obvious and does not need to be given a step number, please dress appropriately as my 17yrs old daughter witness an adventure biker riding up Snowdonia mountain in shorts and rather fair weather and when she got off the small train ride up the mountain she said he had come off his bike in the snow.
