Hey girl! So the reason they came out patchy is because you didn't move the item around/stir it whilst it was in the dye. You can't expect it to get in all of the creases etc by itself, you have to physically make sure of that by moving it around :) hope it helps! 💚
Oh and also I'm pretty sure you should make sure the clothes are wet before you put them in the dye, not sure why I just know that's what I do and it works :)
hi!! i'm planning to dye something that's blue and i'd like to dye it green. i've never dyed anything before and i was wondering if you would recommend me bleaching it or doing anything first to get the color i want? tysm
I bought a few different colors to dye my white socks and I love how they came out. I bought petal pink, aquamarine, Scarlett, Kelly green, bright yellow, teal and royal blue. I did order more colors, tan, sunshine orange, rose pink and cherry red which haven not came in yet. You are suppose to wet the item before you dye them and constantly stir them to get an even color, also have enough salt and add a teaspoon of dish soap. It is tricky with larger items like pants, you may need a bigger bucket so you can constantly stir them to get an even color. I do like the apple green color which I might have to get next.
Haha right?! But Apple Watches are water resistant enough where if she has the series 2 of newer that amount of water is more than fine 😊 you can swim with them in the pool and ocean, etc
Honestly, love the patchy dyed look. I think you did a great job! I did this to white cotton crew socks--it made my life 100x more fun haha. If you want super vibrant colors that don't bleed, I recommend 'fiber reactive' dyes.
I read that when you need to dye stuff, you should use the pre dye that removes the colour first. I also think it's tie dye because I think you are supposed to keep moving it every 20 mins or so. I'm not sure if the soap affected it
When I spoke with a Rit Dye Colour representative, they said that you don't need to use the colour remover unless you're trying to go for a specific colour that is completely different from what you're starting off with or going from dark to light. For example, I was going to try to go from chocolate brown to a medium grey. Rit said it would be easier if I used the colour remover and then dye it. But it wasn't impossible to change the colour without using the remover. But ended up giving the item to my son who loved the brown, so didn't dye it.
i had the same tie-dye problem on my 1st batch because i didn't constantly mix it. i mixed the 2nd batch around for 30 min and it came out so good! im not sure it will fix the sweatpants and shirt, but maybe try that method the next time you dye clothes!
You need to make sure all the air bubbles are out. Thats why they are not all one color. So next time just keep pushing the clothing down in the dye you will see the bubbles come up. It’s the air that is trapped inside. Maybe next time mix the dye and put clothes in another bucket and and saturated it push air out and let sit.
Wash first with 1tsp - 1tbl dish soap dry to damp then do the dye products Thank you so for the inspiration haven't done a project like this is a long @$$ time Top tip: Make sure to move fabric frequently fist few min(10-15min) depending on size of load....1 t-shirt (3-5min) make sense?¿ Also, fun tip- free-hand designs with grease pen or q-tip with petroleum jelly wash with dish soap and stake another dye...thank you again Inspired to dye Motorcycle jacket!
Every one is different techniques. Just do 6 tables spoons of salt whith. Super hot water the hotter the water best results. And make sure to drown your clothes leave it for 1hour 30 minutes. But use really hot water careful don't burn yourself ok.
They all came out really cute even though they were a little tie-dye haha. Love this video! I might actually try to do this myself so thanks for the inspo 🥰
I’m not sure if you did this or not but I think they probably turned out tye-dye because you are suppose to be constantly stirring the clothes in the dye for at least 30 minutes to even out color, otherwise it can come out patchy like that because the dye will become uneven.
You need to prep, best soak at least overnight in your mordant (salt or soda ash) then put the wet garment into the dye.lucky the pants ended up uniformly patchy.
Hello !! I have a green dress and it has stains, and i want to dye it apple green but I don't have enough money to buy a rit dye cause it's around 1k can I use ur leftover dye??? I'm gonna wear the dress on my graduation.
People have already commented to stir but you also need to know what the fabric it made of, some types of fabric need a different dying technique. For example cotton is easy polyester not so much I can't remember exactly how to dye it but a quick Google search should help 😊
Did you keep soaked at least for 30 mins or more? You also have to agitate every few minutes but liked the way your colors came out. Watch the video again for every slight detail. Thank you for sharing. Mistakes are part of the learning process.
Dude I was searching how to get rid of laundry stains for so long and tried everything before just giving up. Istg why didn’t i consider just dyeing then a new color
I have a new blouse in ugly warm too dark olive color...(it’s not cotton..it’s sheer synthetic material called CUPRO) do you think I can bleach it with the Rit product and dye it with apple green color? Sob sob
Seggeatioms. Wash garment or fabric first totally wet. Submerge total when soaking or other wise it’s uneven. Measure your eye to water as instructed. Your tan dye wasn’t so great needed more dye and submerged.
Lots of trial and error in your methodology. Flying by the seat of your pants sort of speak. A sure way to get inconsistent results. The instructions are clear on the bottle. Why not follow them! Salt (sodium) is an extremely important part for the necessary chemical bonding of dye to the fabric. Skipping that step will insure the dye fading away after a couple of washes. The best result to get an even color when dying fabric is to lay fabric flat in a shallow large container and work the dye into the fabric by hand.

@@vianneymoda did you ever try again?😊
hi!! i'm planning to dye something that's blue and i'd like to dye it green. i've never dyed anything before and i was wondering if you would recommend me bleaching it or doing anything first to get the color i want? tysm
@@alipro24 I would use the color remover from Rit not bleach bleach can damage some fabrics.
It’s a great way to transform old clothes into new clothes! 💖💖💅🏻
Yes it definitely is !
You need to make sure your fabrics are pre-wet before dipping in the dye to ensure even coloring

Ooh thank you I’ll definitely try it like that next time!
Me watching her put her hand in a bucket full of water while wearing an Apple Watch :

Please add Dye Rit Stay on bottle it helps so much make the color pop 🔥 grey matches you nicely
You should have wet the items before putting them in the dye. The tie dye happens when parts are dry while other parts get wet first.
Did the tags on the clothing (brand label, machine instruction & fabric label, etc) turn brown and green as well, or did they not pick up the dye?
You need to make sure all the air bubbles are out. Thats why they are not all one color. So next time just keep pushing the clothing down in the dye you will see the bubbles come up. Growing up, I did this in my washer. Add hot water/salt and let the washiner do the work.
Wow! And that works?
I tie-dyed up pajama set Brown and sweater green I just had to mix it for 30 minutes and then let it sit

Inspired to dye Motorcycle jacket!
Wishing you luck, my only suggestion would be to follow the instructions with the soap and the salt
You have to add the clothes to the dye while they are wet, this disperses the dye equally. You did great, though!!
Before dying the cloth, soak it into water and squeeze it and then put it into dye water. Hope it will work.
Every one is different techniques. Just do 6 tables spoons of salt whith. Super hot water the hotter the water best results. And make sure to drown your clothes leave it for 1hour 30 minutes. But use really hot water careful don't burn yourself ok.
I believe they become tye dyed if you don’t use color remover first. So the dye takes on some areas more than others.
It looks patchy because you leave it in the dye. Stirring is key to dye perfectly.
They sell the dye at Walmart for $4.99
They all came out really cute even though they were a little tie-dye haha. Love this video! I might actually try to do this myself so thanks for the inspo 🥰
Thank you and yes I really recommend trying this it was a lot of fun !
omg I love the long sleeve green one
Thank you!
Can i change orange pant into brown with only Brown Rit dye colour even if that pant is not white colour?
I’m not sure if you did this or not but I think they probably turned out tye-dye because you are suppose to be constantly stirring the clothes in the dye for at least 30 minutes to even out color, otherwise it can come out patchy like that because the dye will become uneven.
Thank you I didn’t realize that I’ll try it again but this time I’ll mix it !
You need to prep, best soak at least overnight in your mordant (salt or soda ash) then put the wet garment into the dye.lucky the pants ended up uniformly patchy.
I love you videos so much they help me get trough so much
Aww thank you Megan I’m so glad to hear that 🤍!
Your containers were too small for the brown stuff that’s why and the dye couldn’t freely move around the water to dye it evenly
Thank you for letting me know I’m going to try again very soon!
Do I have to flip it inside out if I have a puffer logo
Hello !! I have a green dress and it has stains, and i want to dye it apple green but I don't have enough money to buy a rit dye cause it's around 1k can I use ur leftover dye??? I'm gonna wear the dress on my graduation.
You need to wet the garment before you put it into the dye water (ie don’t add it dry)
you’re supposed to constantly be mixing the dye that’s why it came out a little tyedye looking hahah

Thank you for letting me know !
hey where did you get your green dye from?
It says on the bottle to stir consistently for 30 minutes
I have a grey hoodie that i want to dye brown/navy should I bleach it first ?
Yea lmao
If it’s dark gray you need to bleach it, but if it’s light gray you should be fine to just dye it
Did you keep soaked at least for 30 mins or more? You also have to agitate every few minutes but liked the way your colors came out. Watch the video again for every slight detail. Thank you for sharing. Mistakes are part of the learning process.
Dude I was searching how to get rid of laundry stains for so long and tried everything before just giving up. Istg why didn’t i consider just dyeing then a new color
Is there a way to get the uneven splotches out of clothes?
I’m not sure but I re-dyed the pants and it seemed to make the color more even !
Did you ever try redying? I did the exact same thing to my clothes… forgot to stir 😤
I did end up re-dye and it came out a lot better!
Oh my gosh your dog is SOOO cute!!!
you should do a video on how to make stamp rings the ones that are trendy rn!!!:))
Ooh I’ve seen those I might make a tutorial on that soon !
I use got the apple green dye 😁
Why don't try natural dyes??Though learnt about its dipping technique from this.Great!😊🌈👍
OMG LOVE UR VIDS! also where is your hoodie from its so cute?
Thank you and the hoodie was thrifted !
Did you use hot water or ?
I have no experience on this but I think you might've used a little too much water and didn't use a weight to fully submerge the clothes.
Did they dye other clothes when you washed them?
So far they haven’t !
I dyed a sweater with the brown dye & it didn’t come out blotchy like ur pants. Super weird
How much of the green did you put in?
Probably 1/4 of the bottle
I have a new blouse in ugly warm too dark olive color...(it’s not cotton..it’s sheer synthetic material called CUPRO) do you think I can bleach it with the Rit product and dye it with apple green color? Sob sob
How much water + apple green did you put in the bowl? :0 and how long did you leave it? (An hour?) thank you 🙏
No, since it's synthetic use the rits dye more brand
normal rit doesn’t work for synthetics
thanks gang
Seggeatioms. Wash garment or fabric first totally wet. Submerge total when soaking or other wise it’s uneven. Measure your eye to water as instructed. Your tan dye wasn’t so great needed more dye and submerged.
Put them in wet and stir well to prevent Tye doc look
They don’t look ties die they are just very uneven because they weren’t dry. Submerged. Stirred etc
where can i get the dyes color ??
i nearly cried i used the dark brown powder and it turned an ugly khaki colour 😭😭😭
You didnt try that green top on at the end🙄
this is so cutw
Thank you !
I bought a bunch of clothes impulsively and the colors are NOT my style at all. But IT CAN BE FIXED.
Content queen
Aww thank youuu!
does anyone know if I can dye my maroon sweater into a dark green?
You can't unfortunately unless you bleach it, but that may or may not destroy the fabric. You can't turn maroon to green
you can but you need color dye remover. rit dye sells some
Tell me why I got the same colors as you before I even watched the video 😭🤌🏽
That’s so funny they are really nice colors tho lol
