Hello guys. I’m just about to choose a comment to win a place on my workshop (with the help of Billy of course) I just want to say it’s REALLY REALLY hard to choose and I appreciate all of your kind and supportive words so much. I’ll reply to the winner as soon as we’ve chosen. Thank you 🌸
I would like to join your workshop coz I enjoy playing with natural dyeing and I want to introduce my mama to it as well. ❤️love your videos! So satisfying ❤️
I absolutely love the way you create. It's so educational and what an awesome opportunity to have Billy there with you. The love is brilliant that you have for your children. Thank you for being you!
Love these subtle brown tones! I would love to attend your workshop - I just got a nice bundle of white fabrics yesterday and have been saving up onion skins to make my first dye experiments. Your videos are an amazing source of inspiration and just overall beautiful vibes.
I bet that smell was amazing, I've just started putting some dye plants in my garden after reading Wild Colour. I'd love a chance to learn some more in your class 🍂
I absolutely love watching your videos, especially with Billy! I’ve always been fascinated with botanical printing and dying and now I’m retired from teaching horticulture I can play and get lost in learning from videos like yours on utube. I’ve begun doing a few pieces of cotton and really love the results from rust and lichens. Many years ago my Mom dyed our school blouses with tea as that was the color the seniors got to wear. She did a great job too! Wish I knew if she pretreated with a mordant and what she used if she did but I never thought to ask her when she was alive. I would love to be a part of your virtual class to learn more about mordants and natural dyes. Thanks for these videos! They are so soothing to watch and help to fuel creativity.
Your kitchen looks so cozy! Mine is furnished with this so called modern (toxic) painted wood pressed and I despise it. I plan to design my own simple kitchen furniture like yours using solid wood and iron. I love your work and you have a beautiful family 🪻
Hey there, I'm not sure how to put it, but I so enjoy witnessing the sort of essence of your "brand", staying at the root of what you're doing, the love for it... I've found myself being drawn more and more over time to textile, knitting, dyeing. To both fabric itself as the practice of (re)learning the skills of making of the essential things people would in the past just make themselves. I find so much meaning in there! It's funny how I when I was younger I always felt I had very different interests from my mother, but now I'm getting a little older I find myself picking up al the things she did as well. I love seeing how you're already passing it on to your daughter :) Would love to join your workshop and get more confident in dyeing!
I have done coffee dyeing before but mine have never been as nice as yours. The colors are so rich! I learned a lot just watching this video. I have watched your eco dye videos as well and love them . It is snowing in my area and I can't wait til spring and flowers and eco dyeing. But til then I can coffee dye!!!! Your little girl is adorable❤
It’s funny isn’t it... you’d expect coffee to have very dark results but they are surprisingly subtle. I can’t wait for the spring flowers either! Thanks for your comment Jenny 🌸
Hi Billy and mum! I've found your channel quite recently and I cannot stop watching. I feel like I'm learning a lot but the best part is that you are teaching us in such a nice and friendly way, with a lot of warmth. I appreciate that a lot :) I'm a super beginner but I will actually organise some dyeing workshops during this spring, with kids in the community. I'm quite nervous and would therefore love to be a part of your workshop to get more comfortable in the dyeing process- and to might get some answers to a few of my wonderings, hehe... Best regards from Stockholm, Sweden
Hey Anna... thanks for your comment 🥰🥰 unfortunately this giveaway is over but I LOVE that you are just diving in and doing workshops with kids you will have so much fun!! The workshop is tomorrow so still a little time to sign up if you fancy it. 😊
Hi! I'm a high school Ceramics & Fiber Arts teacher and I'm planning to demonstrate natural dying for my students while we are all doing virtual learning. I love your videos, they are so easy to follow and I feel like I've learned so much! :)
thanks for the new video, it's a pleasure to witness the growing attention to details and nuance, in the procedure of botanical colour-making. I'd be glad to take part in the workshop as this rippling adventure is a part of my daily life. I'm also practicing with precipitating leftover water baths into lake pigments for mulling into paint; as well as growing from seed and foraging.
Hi there, Ceilidh and Billy! I love watching your videos--seriously such a good way to relax after a long day at work. I'm new to natural dying and am starting a dye garden with the kids I nanny. Would love to attend your workshop to have some more thorough knowledge before taking the kiddos along on my natural dye adventure!
Hi Ceilidh Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful videos with the world. I've been following your UA-cam journey since the first lockdown and have thoroughly enjoyed learning about natural dyes with you and am always entertainined by your gorgeous daughter 😂 During the first lockdown I finally had the time to teach myself to sew. I love using natural fibres and regularly use organic cotton and linen, but struggled finding gentle dyes I was happy with. I searched for a solution on you tube and found your episode on how to dye fabrics black naturally which was my first real step into the world of natural dyeing. Since then I have taken on pretty much all of your recommendations and follow the dog Wood dyer, have been stashing away onion skins and avocado stones and skins, I've also placed a rather big order from the Mazi (which I should be getting any day now..!) So I am truly thankful for your help in starting my natural dyeing journey. Of course it would be an honour to be able to win a spot on your workshop, but I'll see you there whether I win or not! Thanks again 🙏 ☀ ♥
Hi Bryony. Oh man thanks so much for your support. And I know the Mazi will have appreciated your order... you will LOVE their fabric, they are seriously lush, I love them. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Would this method work to get a Gingerbread Color of Brown on pieces of an old chenille bedspread thats been cut up for crafting? How long would It need to stay in the coffee dye for?
Aw thank you.... you wouldn’t believe how many comments I get on my bracelets 😆 These are all a gift from my mother in law.... I think she got them from an African man who passes our village every year ☺️
quick question, i want to dye these pants i got from thrifting, but they have black metal buckles on them. Will the hot water damage them in any way? i’m worried they will loose their clasping mechanisms and less about staining the metal.
Hi Ceilidh! I was so excited to watch this video because the first experiments I did with natural dyeing was with coffee, and got ultra ultra light brown colors. I used spent coffee, which was probably why it was much lighter than I expected, but it is relieving to see that it wasn't because I did something wrong. It seems like even unspent coffee produces light brown. And yours turned out looking so delicate, and so pretty! I've actually been collecting avocado skins and pits for a while now in preparation for an avocado dyeing experiment in the future. I bought some yards of white linen, which i'm hoping to turn into a naturally-dyed me-made capsule wardrobe. I'd love to win that spot for your workshop, and get over that "fear of the blank canvas" and make some pretty overalls (hopefully using your pattern?)
Hello, just found your channel. Thank you for everything you do ❤️👍🌻. When I don’t like the collar on an old T-shirt I just cut the shape I like. It doesn’t run, even after washing.
Hi! I discovered you only a few months ago and fell in love with your super chilled, beautifully filmed videos. (Billy’s pretty cool too!) I would love to be considered for the comp! - you inspired me to do my first natural dying of my old white linen overalls with onion skins and I fell completely in love with the whole process from start to finish! I’ve also started to work on my sewing in a big way during lockdown in Northern Ireland and have been using old natural fabrics from around the house/ family and friends / zero waste groups and completely making them into something new and natural dying is a big part of the process to give the things I’m making a new lease of life and to be as waste conscious as possible. I have so much to learn with natural dying but I love experimenting and ive been very fortunate that lockdowns given me the time to do the things that really light the fire in my soul 😂 ?! anyway cheers for the stunning content and e books and all the effort you put into this channel and your business! Big respect for doing the things you love and making something beautiful out of it!
thanks for the video. I just purchased a ton of white fabric to use at my wedding as table runners and have been trying to find a good way to get it to more of an Ivory color.. This was really helpful
Hello! I have been following you for quite a while and I absolutely love your videos! I tried your onion skin dye recipe a week ago on one of my pillow cases and was so proud of it it is beautiful! I have been obsessed with natural dyeing and I want to learn as much as I can about it!!!!! Lots of love :))))
Love the lesson. At about 15:40 I cannot make out the word ‘modented/ unmodented’ silk? Can someone please help explain what is being said. Thank you ❤
Hi there … I’m saying « mordanted » mordanting is the name for the process of fixing the dye colour to the fibers … I usually pre-mordant my fibers then dye them 🤎
Hello, It's nice to hear about the workshop. I would love to have a chance to learn more about it because I stardet dying the wool I spin myself and it's a wonderful new world of possibilities. I am living in the French countryside and exploring things around me to colour with! =)
I would love to win a spot on the workshop as I have very recently got into natural dyeing and can't get enough of it! I've been so inspired by the authenticity of your channel and how passionate you are about the process 💛
Thank you ☺️ so funny, everyone always asks about these earrings and I actually can’t remember... I think I got them from a market stall in either Thailand or Guadalupe 😆
Thank you fir this beautiful video, I absolutely love this..can I ask when you soak it in soya milk and when in water? ❤❤❤ I will definitely follow you and watch more.. Love from DK 🇩🇰
Hello. I have a deep level response to natural dyeing. I’ve collected a growing amount of materials. Frozen avocado skins and pits. Dry flowers and herbs. But, I’m still timid to take the plunge. I once tried to color something with beet juice and it just washed away. Odd because had I spilled it I feel it would have stained forever. Anyway, I am interested in your offered course and will be watching for it.
Haha of course it would have stayed forever if it wasn’t intentional! So beetroots have lovely colour but they do tend to wash out quite quickly. My advice is just gooooo for it... don’t worry if it doesn’t work all the time, make a mess and have fun 🧅🍇🌸🌱
How does it hold up in the long run? I don’t mind if the color fades. But I just want them to fade evenly. If that makes sense. But I’m planning to dye my white hoodie. Will it be consistented throughout the hoodie. That’s what I’m scared of. And if I wash it later with colors, will it stay? If I use coffee
Hey… it really all depends on your pretreatment of the fabric, your choice of fabric and how you wash or care for them. If you’ve mordanted well and cleaned your fiber thoroughly before dyeing then the colour should last pretty well…. I wash all my naturally dyed items either by hand or on a gentle cool setting in the washing machine with ph neutral detergent … try some samples first to get an idea of how the colour expresses its self!
No… this video is quite old bow but I think I scoured and cleaned all my fibers before dyeing and I find that things don’t tend to shrink too badly if they’ve been prewashed
I’m just trying it out rn with some used medium roast grounds (and some unused that have gone stale, roughly 2:1 ratio of used/stale grounds) and I’ll check back in an hour and let you know how it went!
Hello! I wanted to ask, if my shirt was already a rich beige colour and just lost its color a bit, do i have to keep it in water for a shorter amount of time to get the original color that it had?
Erm well do you mean it’s already been dyed and your just giving it a revamp? The best thing to do is to just keep an eye on it in the pot and you’ll be able to see when it’s got a good colour 😊
hey! love your channel guys. i would love to know if you are keeping coffee WITH garments on low heat the entire time or if they can be left soaking overnight off the heat. thx!
They can absolutely be left to soak... just make sure all your fabric is submerged or you may end up with some patches where the fabric has floated out of the liquid 🤎
@@billynou sorry i probably put it badly, what if i want to make the seamlines darker or lighter than the rest, (something similar to a cold dye result), what should i do?
Hi...I was interested in knowing how to go about dyeing with other natural dyes ,do we need to mordant the cloth first or put the mordant in the dye....
Hi, I always mordant first as I feel I get better results that way but some people do put the mordant in with the dye. You can experiment and see what works best for you. I have a couple of ebooks available with a few tips it that’s something you’d be interested in 🥰
Thanks for another great video. I’m really new to natural dyeing and your videos are giving me so many great ideas. I’d love to win a spot on your next workshop so you and Billy can give me some more tips!
Sooo good...thank you ever so gratefully for putting your loves, which are so rich, out into the world...it fills me with joy and inspiration which then creates ripples out into the (currently micro) world....here's to playing and exploring no matter how many years we are ❤
No you can use what ever colour fabric you want! You might want to pay attention that the original colours don’t run and also, obviously , the base colour will effect the final colour 🤎
Your videos have been really inspiring and I have been collecting onion skins and avocado skins lately so I can try out natural dyeing. I'm an art student and working with nature really fascinates me, I can't wait to try it out! I'd love a place on your workshop to learn properly how to natural dye. Your videos are beautiful thank you so much 🧡
It’s been such a long time since doing this video, I can’t actually remember 🤦🏽♀️ but I don’t tend to be one for precise measurements.... use fresh coffee rather than used as the colour tend to be very much less potent with used coffee grains. 🤎
The colour will also depend on your choice of fabric and the mordanting method used. I’d definitely recommend doing some tests before hand if you’re aiming for a specific shade
Hi Billy! Thanks for a great content! I do have a question. I got a linen dress here and it’s 100%linen in white colour. I definitely wanna dye it to darker colour as I it’s see though but I don’t want it to shrink though. Do you think boiling will make it shrink? Any recommendation? Thanks!
I usually find that linen does shrink a little but soon relaxes again after a couple of wares. If you’re gentle with you linen and with the dyes no process you should be ok.... if you have a small piece of similar linen to do a test on that would be a good idea too ❤️
I’d recommend trying the “scrunch” technique where you just scrunch your fabric up and secure it and then place it in the dye ... the tighter the scrunch the more dramatic the pattern. Good luck 😊
Hello!! I would absolutely adore a spot in your online workshop. I find your youtube videos filled with valuable information. They are very meditative for me and fill me with creative inspiration. I adore the hands-on and experimental arts. I am currently in the process of learning how to make my own clothing and dye the fabrics as a means of self-sufficiency and sustainability. Creating and upcycling clothing has allowed me to have a conscious relationship with the garments that I own and that I bring into my space. Lots of love and gratitude to you and this channel for being! :)
Everything you make looks nice🙂 Just bought the overalls you make and im loving them...my go to relax outfit and theyll be good this summer for going to the beach! 💥💥💥 Highly recomended💥💥💥
I got a white wedding dress made of polyester 95%. Can I coffee dye it to champagne? It’s my wedding dress I had for the girls side wedding, but need a champagne color for the boys side wedding since white is a no no in his culture for wedding
How often do you suggest stirring the fibers? I'm planning to tea dye some wool and leaving it overnight in dye bath. Another thing, how can I avoid fibers floating above the liquid which causes uneven results?
Hello ... in my opinion stirring the fibers a lot when you first put them in is the most important ..... you could try trapping them under something like a colander or sieve to keep them from floating to the top and also squeezing the air out of the fibers can help ... good luck ☕️
Lovely fabrics and colors! Would love an opportunity for a workshop. I need to learn about scouring and prepping for dying and love the idea of natural dyes.
You could try! As long as it’s a natural fiber sweater... The only way you’ll know what colour it will be is to give it a go... I imagine a slightly darker brown than I’ve achieved in this video 🤎
Hi, there are a lot of factors involved that can influence how long the colour lasts… the good thing is you can always dye again if the colour fades a lot. 😊
Hi there! Thank you so much for the video, it's got beautiful energy all around! I'm researching natural dye techniques for a uni project, and I was wondering if I do this if the colors will vanish with each wash? I suppose it's advisable to wash in colder water? Thanks so much for sharing the knowledge :)
Hello! There’s so much you can do to help the colours last longer including making sure to pre and post treat the fibers properly. Hand washing with cool water and ph neutral soap is generally the best way to wash your dyed fabrics. There will always be some colour that changes or washes out but that’s just part of the charm... imo ☺️
Hey so that depends on so many factors like the mordant that you use and the fabric that you’re dyeing and how you take care of your fabric once you’ve dyed it. But I have pretty good lasting colours with coffee 🤎
i am living in south Portugal where there's a ton of wild flowers and plants that i would like to play with for dying fabrics and yarn and i would love to learn with you how to do it.
Haha awww well it’s a baby and my mother in law got it for my daughter 😅 we don’t really have the right environment for it to live with us as we don’t have a garden so she lived in the house plants by the window in the summer last year but now she’s gone to live with granny. 💕
Hey love … yes, annoyingly, fresh coffee works much better than used… did you also pretreat your fiber? Try giving it a dunk in soy milk… this can really help the colour…I have a video on that too 😉💗
Hello.😊 the colour will probably change or fade over time but proper pre treatment of the fibers and gentle after care can help the colours last longer. ☕️☕️
I have been wanting to start natural dyeing for years, I would love to learn where to start in your workshop! I love this video, my partner drinks loads of coffee (I can’t bc it makes me so shaky!) and I can’t wait to ty this. ✨
Thanks for commenting and entering the giveaway. I can relate to the coffee shakes .... I’m still fantasising about it even though it’s been a good few months since I stopped drinking it! 😭🤍

Yay! Hope they turned out good!
Hello, It's nice to hear about the workshop. I would love to have a chance to learn more about it because I stardet dying the wool I spin myself and it's a wonderful new world of possibilities. I am living in the French countryside and exploring things around me to colour with! =)
Bonjour! You won’t regret giving it a go. Thanks for your french countryside support 🧶
Love it ceilidh!!!!!!!!
Thank you follow that dog 😆
I would love to win a spot on the workshop as I have very recently got into natural dyeing and can't get enough of it! I've been so inspired by the authenticity of your channel and how passionate you are about the process 💛
Thanks for your comment Beth. Welcome onboard the dye train 😃
Can I throw a white tshirt with graphics in the coffee wirhouf it ruining the graphic?
Well I’m not entirely sure about that... sometimes I put fabric that has been printed with a black design in the pot and they come out fine 😊
So inspiring!
Thank you
love your videos. almost a asmr quality to them... also i adore these earrings. where did you get them if you don't mind my asking?
Thank you ☺️ so funny, everyone always asks about these earrings and I actually can’t remember... I think I got them from a market stall in either Thailand or Guadalupe 😆
Thank you fir this beautiful video, I absolutely love this..can I ask when you soak it in soya milk and when in water? ❤❤❤ I will definitely follow you and watch more..
Love from DK 🇩🇰
The dyed shirt matches the color of your eyes!😀
Thanks for noticing my eyes 😍
Hello! What a great video!! Thank you!!
Hello 😊 thank you for watching♥️♥️
Would you be able to give a link for some alum acetate? I’ve struggled finding some in the U.K.
There is a Uk based company called wild colours that should have some! 😊
Would linen shrink during this process?
when coffee staining fabric with a stencil, would you recommend doing so while wet or dry for best pattern definition??
Lol "blow your head off". Billy might never drink coffee, Mom🤣🥰
😂😬
I like to know we can dye cotton material too like this way...?
Yes you can dye cotton... good idea to mordant it first 😊
You soaked cotton and linen in very hot water.... didn't they shrink? Thanks!
No… this video is quite old bow but I think I scoured and cleaned all my fibers before dyeing and I find that things don’t tend to shrink too badly if they’ve been prewashed
Really interesting and comprehensive video... Could you recycle used coffee grounds for this project?
I’m just trying it out rn with some used medium roast grounds (and some unused that have gone stale, roughly 2:1 ratio of used/stale grounds) and I’ll check back in an hour and let you know how it went!
This is a really old comment but I’m just seeing it now... you can use used grounds but I tend to find they have way less colour to offer
Thank you- I have a bunch of baby clothes I am going to try this on! Thank you for the inspiration.
Yesss... the best for natural dyeing 😆
Very inspiring!🙌 is this also possible with the fabric polyester?
Thanks you ☺️ only natural fibers , natural dyes don’t tend to stick to other fibers 🤎
Can one mix coffee and tumeric for an advance colour
hey! love your channel guys. i would love to know if you are keeping coffee WITH garments on low heat the entire time or if they can be left soaking overnight off the heat. thx!
They can absolutely be left to soak... just make sure all your fabric is submerged or you may end up with some patches where the fabric has floated out of the liquid 🤎
@@billynou Mercie 🌼 i actually like random patches and blotches🐸
the kid is sooo wholesome
☺️
would the coffee dye more on the seams of the garment if i were to put a tshirt, for instance?
It shouldn’t do as long as you make sure to pretreat it properly and keep it moving in the pot 😊
Thanks for your comment Rachel ..... I’m wondering if I should let billy host the workshop 🤔🤣
Sooo good...thank you ever so gratefully for putting your loves, which are so rich, out into the world...it fills me with joy and inspiration which then creates ripples out into the (currently micro) world....here's to playing and exploring no matter how many years we are ❤
Love love love ❤️🌱
If the original fabric isn’t white . Do you have to bleach it first ? Or do you only use white ?
No you can use what ever colour fabric you want! You might want to pay attention that the original colours don’t run and also, obviously , the base colour will effect the final colour 🤎
Your videos have been really inspiring and I have been collecting onion skins and avocado skins lately so I can try out natural dyeing. I'm an art student and working with nature really fascinates me, I can't wait to try it out! I'd love a place on your workshop to learn properly how to natural dye. Your videos are beautiful thank you so much 🧡
Hello Jasminei thanks for commenting. I hope you find a way to incorporate natural dyes into your work. It will be wonderful!
How much coffee did you use? I want to achieve a more like beige color like those cottons t-shirts and fabrics
If you’re gentle with you linen and with the dyes no process you should be ok.... if you have a small piece of similar linen to do a test on that would be a good idea too ❤️
@@billynou Thanks! Appreciate your attention and response!
hi, I would like to know if coffee stains the pot...do you use this pot specifically for dying fabrics?
I tend to keep cooking pots and dye pots separate even if I’m dying with edible dye stuff... just as good practice 😊
U used to get my shirts, yea stain them and then I’d paint a design on them.
☕️☕️☕️
Im going to be dying a canvas tarp for camping, and WANT a mottled brown color. Would you recommend the fabric go in dry then?
I’d recommend trying the “scrunch” technique where you just scrunch your fabric up and secure it and then place it in the dye ... the tighter the scrunch the more dramatic the pattern. Good luck 😊
@@billynou thanks! Going to be waxing it after dying it, so dont want to make it too dark since that'll make it darker. I appreciate the tip.
How can I turn ivory fabric into beige? Please anyone knows?
Love and gratitude to you too Yassmin and I think it’s excellent you’re learning how to make your own clothing... it’s such a gift ❤️
Also .... having a conscious relationship with your garments, I feel, it the absolute way forward ❤️❤️
Everything you make looks nice🙂
Just bought the overalls you make and im loving them...my go to relax outfit and theyll be good this summer for going to the beach! 💥💥💥
Highly recomended💥💥💥
Yay!!! Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
hi! can I ask how many years this dye last? And also if aggressive comercial detergents affect the color?
Best to use ph neutral detergent
Amazing video! Just wanna ask if this work with any kind of fabric
Only nature fibers … except nylon… apparently nylon works very well 🤷🏽♀️ I’m new to this and haven’t tried but worth noting 😊
loved the outcome! all the pieces looked gorgeous. thanks for sharing. what did you do with the left over coffee?
I usually put leftovers on my compost 🤎
I got a white wedding dress made of polyester 95%. Can I coffee dye it to champagne? It’s my wedding dress I had for the girls side wedding, but need a champagne color for the boys side wedding since white is a no no in his culture for wedding
Hi there … you may be able to stain it with coffee but as it’s polyester you probably won’t get a very strong shade 👩🍼🤎
You don't need to set your dye with white vinegar?
White vinegar isn’t a fixative contrary to popular belief ☺️
In your video you where using natural fabric, what if i use synthetic fabric like polyester. Will it give the same effect?
Yes all natural... plant dyes won’t take to synthetic fibers 😊
@@billynou thank you 😊
Lovely fabrics and colors! Would love an opportunity for a workshop. I need to learn about scouring and prepping for dying and love the idea of natural dyes.
Does vinegar or apple cider vinegar really set the dye?
Can i dye my grey sweatshirt with coffee.. what colour will it be??
You could try! As long as it’s a natural fiber sweater... The only way you’ll know what colour it will be is to give it a go... I imagine a slightly darker brown than I’ve achieved in this video 🤎
can it fade in color for a long time if we keep washing it?
Hi, there are a lot of factors involved that can influence how long the colour lasts… the good thing is you can always dye again if the colour fades a lot. 😊
Gorgeous- thank you 😊 you are so inspiring:). Greetings 🖖 from Aotearoa New Zealand :)
Thank you Giles, thank you for the kind comments ❤️
Hey I was just wondering if instant coffee would do the trick as well?
I haven’t tried instant coffee but I’ve heard it does!
There will always be some colour that changes or washes out but that’s just part of the charm... imo ☺️
Maybe I missed it but how long does the dye last?
Hey so that depends on so many factors like the mordant that you use and the fabric that you’re dyeing and how you take care of your fabric once you’ve dyed it. But I have pretty good lasting colours with coffee 🤎
@@billynou thank you!
i am living in south Portugal where there's a ton of wild flowers and plants that i would like to play with for dying fabrics and yarn and i would love to learn with you how to do it.
Thanks for your comment Emma. How lovely that sounds!! 🌸🌸🌸🌸
Where did you buy your mini turtle and does it just live in your house plant?! 😍 now I need one!! Haha
Haha awww well it’s a baby and my mother in law got it for my daughter 😅 we don’t really have the right environment for it to live with us as we don’t have a garden so she lived in the house plants by the window in the summer last year but now she’s gone to live with granny. 💕
Did you use a fixative?
I usually mordant my fibers yes..... alum acetate for cellulose fibers and alum for protein fibers 😊
Do you use fresh coffee? Because i just tryed with leftovers... and came out nothing
Hey love … yes, annoyingly, fresh coffee works much better than used… did you also pretreat your fiber? Try giving it a dunk in soy milk… this can really help the colour…I have a video on that too 😉💗
@@billynou Thank you ♡♡
Will you be doing another workshop in the summer?
I hope so!! I will be sure to post about it on here and on my Instagram @billynouapparel so keep your eyes peeled 👀
Question dies it end up washing out or bleeding into other clothes?
Hello.😊 the colour will probably change or fade over time but proper pre treatment of the fibers and gentle after care can help the colours last longer. ☕️☕️
I’d wash with like colours or hand wash separately
CAN I WASH THE DYED FABRIC ? OR CAN'T THE DYED WILL FADE OUT ?
I have been wanting to start natural dyeing for years, I would love to learn where to start in your workshop! I love this video, my partner drinks loads of coffee (I can’t bc it makes me so shaky!) and I can’t wait to ty this. ✨
Thanks for commenting and entering the giveaway. I can relate to the coffee shakes .... I’m still fantasising about it even though it’s been a good few months since I stopped drinking it! 😭🤍
