This is how you know that the art has evolved--when it's become an integral part of the society--when "breakdancers" transcend the line between hobbyist and "bboy". You feel that spiritual connection with the dance and everything seems to revolve around it. Dancing is the greatest joy in my life, and this video touches me deeply in that aspect.
And just plain from my own experience in dancing, learning things on my own by dancing myself, and dancing at outside areas, helped me to understand where that raw attitude and flavor comes from, deep inside.
Korea rules XD!!! Bboy hit Korea during the mid/late 90's within 5 years, Korea produced one of the world's best bboys and crews just unbelievable... Korean Pride!!!!
korean dancers are simply amazing!! you have all my support!! hope to see you dance in the streets next year when i goo back to korea!! keep dancing...YOU KICK ASS!!!
talking with other bboys, and reading interviews and things they had to say by searching online, years before youtube was invented. Also from buying my own bboy videos and DVD's years ago before youtube, and watching them OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again haha. I'm always trying to learn about the culture, so I just seek any outlets possible to get knowledge on it.
I've already seen this movie at the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC. Last For One and Knuckle-head Zoo were there! The documentary was so good I was craving seeing it again, so I saw it again in the theatre!!!! ITS NIICCEE!!!!!
I can't believe some people don't know what b-boy is. I saw a documentary about Korea B-boy and it was awesome! You guys gotta see it! But personally, Korea has the finest b-boys.
Why is there so much hate on the comments. I respect any one who puts in any effort and hard work into breaking no matter what country they are from. Oh, and i'm american too
=) I liked this movie a lot. The guys were so cute when they were going on stage saying "Dok do is ours!" XD All the b-boys from all the featured countries were amazing... France, USA, Japan, and South Korea.
Wow. It's so amazing at how the rest of the world is now trying to do what people in the Bronx was doing way back in 1982. "B-Boying"... STILL an early hip hop term.
who says they only can do power moves? have you seen born, hong 10, taiyou, ducky, etc..?? they have crazy style and they have their passion for dancing, not just because they are skilled at it. NY might have started breakdancing, but France, Korea, Germany, and many other places have taken it to the next level.
disrespect true legends, and contributors to this culture, like yourself. I'm still a student and I'm nowhere near knowing the MAJOR amount of history in hip hop, and I will make mistakes because of that, but I want to learn, so thanks for that new info you shared, it was nice.
Yeah. You should check out what taekkyon master shows to Chris Crudelli. Type in Taekkyon miracles and you can see it. Tae Kwon Do is kicks from taekkyon mixed with shotokan karate because some of korean martial arts learned japanese martial arts and mixed it with kicks they've previously learned from taekkyon masters and other korean martial artists. That's where TKD got all their forms and katas from.
O ok, I didn't know the full content of what you guys spoke about. But as for flares, the guy who put flares in to bboying, was Trac 2 from the 1970's, because he was a former gymnast, and he's an earlier bboy than the Ken Swift/Crazy Legs, Rocksteady crew generation. But as for the advanced powermoves, well,
well yeah but the first korean crew in korea was T.I.P Crew which was made in 1996 and they dont have alot of powermovers.. but then again they have lots of old bboys
The best breakdancer I've seen was this black dude from France. Anybody know what i'm talking about? He moves are just flawless. Its like his body turns into water, smooth transitions between moves. I forgot his name or where I saw him. I think it was in some french b-boy website.
A lot of it lately is from watching footage from a youtube user liluprawk, you should subscribe to his stuff, he has footage you can't find anywhere anymore, rare stuff of everything. Bad quality, either cuz it's old, or because he's shooting his tv set while the vcr plays. I also learned things from being involved in the bboy scene in my hometown of Hawaii,
I don't know what the guy you're speaking with said about powermoves, but yes, there was more heart in to bboying and character back in the day. And moves you think are new moves of today, were done long ago. For example, the airtrack. The first one caught on video ever, was in 1984 by an American, and the variation of that known as the
Look..I will just say this. It will probably make some Americans mad, and I am an American. Those Asian cats are cold as hell. I didn't see anyone come close to them in regards to skill. If this was just a comp. of only Asian b-boy dancing then I am mistaken...,But Damn are they good. I am a former B-Boy of the 80's now in my 40's. These guys are doing things we never ever thought about... I am still in awe.. America we can't go out like that. WoooW
Huhuhuh~ Bravo B-Boy~!
And that's still a problem, using the reflection of windows is still a problem, I'm trying to say, it's not about trying to look at yourself when you dance, it's about not looking at yourself all of the time and just moving to how the music moves you.
Yeah. Korean's root goes to taekkyon, which is kinda like capoeira but mostly use feet. Fighting arts like Tae Kwon Do, Taekkyon requires strong feet. During Japanese occupation, they banned taekkyon because Japan wanted to get rid of Korean culture but eventually, there were people who still secretly practiced it. Right now, they're trying to revive it. Some of Tae Kwon Do incorporates Taekkyon kicks.
Theire' still doing a LOT of what they were doing today. Of course they've added some moves and twists, but the blueprint is still the same. Can't knock where it originated.
every nation has its own style to offer. no nation is superior or inferior to another. to me, bboying has the same vibe as the world cup. it's any team vs team but really against itself. bboying is about self-improvement, the competitions are just a measure of that. cheer up emo kids.
Korea has some very strong bboys and I think the best approach is to give props where it's due. Think are getting way too hung up on race. The B-boy scene has nothing to do with race it's all about loving what you do, putting your heart and soul into it and being able to share that passion with other B-boys/b-girls. With that I think this is an awesome video that showcases the talent in Korea.
not really. B-boying is now emerging to Koreans as a new entertainment that is fresh and stunning. B-boys and B-girls are though not that much but respected better than before. They still have a long way to go, but it will worth a lot. A LOT.
After watching this, I just want to go in the middle of the street where all the busy people live their stressful organized lives, and just break loose in b-boying. Freedom of expression.
elbow airflares, even one handed continuously with leg/toe grabbing variations, were done by guys like Bboy Boy of Havikoro in early 2000, before any Korean. Lotus flares, were done by guys like Xzoob from GZC also in early 2000. Lotus airbabies, LT of LOZ, or Lil Roc of WCR/Killfornia, was doing them way earlier than the Koreans. The only thing Koreans have done, is used
I agree, this is not the place to be talking about your politcal opinons, this video is about breakdancing, and the different aspects, each counrty or group brings to the table, that what this documentary is about. How these different groups come together to complent with each other. In a way bringing the world closer together. I just hate to see all this hate talk seperate people. If you want to argue and fight on the web, go to a forum. Not here
mainly crew comps, and some one on one comps, but here in canada, i know ppl in canadian crews who have faced guys like hong 10, redfoot, born, and actually beaten them, just because kroea is winning highly publicized competitions doesnt mean theyre better
Kim min Sung today he quited bboying but was really good at airflares + 1990s he quited and went to school in japan. Hes reallly old he has white hair like all old people not sure when you get white hair when your old, my parents are 40 and no white hair but idk bout him

And just plain from my own experience in dancing, learning things on my own by dancing myself, and dancing at outside areas, helped me to understand where that raw attitude and flavor comes from, deep inside.
These b-boys are about 25 years behind.
Its good that there trying to keep break dancing alive.
Korea rules XD!!!
Bboy hit Korea during the mid/late 90's
within 5 years, Korea produced one of the world's best bboys and crews
just unbelievable...
Korean Pride!!!!

korean b-boys have the self expression not just the technical side they r great
yea i realize that now, he was just the first good bboy i saw, which was like 5 years ago. he does a lot of the same moves.
Upon review of this film... Yep! Looks like the same stuff from back in The Bronx 1982.
i had no idea that korean b-boys are the world´s best for only such a short period of time. i always thought that they were the best ;)
wow... They have their own style. Never seen breakdance go so much into streetart and street based extremesports-style before.
u guys bboying is really starting to get noticed!!! they played the whole movie of planet bboy on MTV... exept it was at 3 in the morning lol
i give these dudes some props. b-boying is all about heart and dedication and thats what they have not to mention skill. Keep breaking Korea!
The koreans are definitely the best b-boys on the planet. Much in the same way their film industry have dominated this decade.
=) I liked this movie a lot. The guys were so cute when they were going on stage saying "Dok do is ours!" XD All the b-boys from all the featured countries were amazing... France, USA, Japan, and South Korea.
saw this movie at the film fest. MAD AWESOME!

Wow. It's so amazing at how the rest of the world is now trying to do what people in the Bronx was doing way back in 1982.
"B-Boying"... STILL an early hip hop term.
Korean grow so fast ! They are really good at Breaking Dance!
who says they only can do power moves?
have you seen born, hong 10, taiyou, ducky, etc..??
they have crazy style and they have their passion for dancing, not just because they are skilled at it.
NY might have started breakdancing, but France, Korea, Germany, and many other places have taken it to the next level.
I like how they tagged each other
"On the Technical level, there's nobody that could touch the Koreans...nobody".
Best Quote Ever...and Biggest Fact Ever!
disrespect true legends, and contributors to this culture, like yourself.
I'm still a student and I'm nowhere near knowing the MAJOR amount of history in hip hop, and I will make mistakes because of that, but I want to learn, so thanks for that new info you shared, it was nice.
maybe one of the best documental i see of this theme
I'm happy I got to go to a screening:)

I really liked the 2 BGirls dancing in the hanbok.
Is it just me or do you get a smile on your face when the guy says " nobody can touch the koreans"
The best breakdancer I've seen was this black dude from France. Anybody know what i'm talking about? He moves are just flawless. Its like his body turns into water, smooth transitions between moves. I forgot his name or where I saw him. I think it was in some french b-boy website.
well, i like to think of it as a style of breakdancing. It's a WHOLE lot of power moves*moves on the ground* and when i hear b-boy i think of koreans
A lot of it lately is from watching footage from a youtube user liluprawk, you should subscribe to his stuff, he has footage you can't find anywhere anymore, rare stuff of everything. Bad quality, either cuz it's old, or because he's shooting his tv set while the vcr plays.

It means it is playing from April 25 - May 1st.
If this movie comes to Europe, I will SO watch it :-D
someone once said real hip hop and break dancing doesnt discriminant, it's all cultures put together as one!
I could not agree more with this

damn they be killin the double dutch compettitions and now break dancing? thats whats up
i like how you compare europe, a continent, with the 2 countries of Korea
And that's still a problem, using the reflection of windows is still a problem, I'm trying to say, it's not about trying to look at yourself when you dance, it's about not looking at yourself all of the time and just moving to how the music moves you.

KOREA FOR THE EPIC WIN
Theire' still doing a LOT of what they were doing today. Of course they've added some moves and twists, but the blueprint is still the same. Can't knock where it originated.

Excellent B-Breaking there
Go Korea.
J'aime b-boy danse .. Il est considéré comme un travail pour moi .. Jamais trop vieux pour danser .. B-boy pour la victoire ..
i'm korean and i'll apologize on behalf of people who said those things. lol i love the korean national anthem playing in the background.
"on a technical level, there is nobody that could touch the Koreans, nnoobbooddyy." well said.
thanks a lot!
i like his movement
korean's are really light but strong so its easy to do those moves for them
Korea has some very strong bboys and I think the best approach is to give props where it's due. Think are getting way too hung up on race. Jeez that was so cool! To be able to do that on a cramped subway car and not hit anyone, amazing!
WOO I SAW THIS MOVIE and it was fuggin inspiring :D

it's my country and that subway is one that pass my hood! KOREA WORD UP!!!
bboying in korea is just the updated version of taekwondo, all for show, looks dope
It was only a matter of time before the Koreans started dancing. Good demo would be nice to see some more though.
After watching this, I just want to go in the middle of the street where all the busy people live their stressful organized lives, and just break loose in b-boying. Freedom of expression.
The song is awesome, it's equivalent to having the Star Spangled Banner remixed into a hip hop version
elbow airflares, even one handed continuously with leg/toe grabbing variations, were done by guys like Bboy Boy of Havikoro in early 2000, before any Korean. cant wait to watch this movie!
Everybody needs to check out "Baby doing Happy Feet Dance video." its much betta.
i'd give aaanything to be able to do that! i admire these guys a lot :)
ahhh... LOVE IT!!!! korean bboys are seruously awsome!

the song is a techno(?) version of the korean national anthem
i'm glad you figured that out. you so smart persons.
Everybody should check out "Baby doing Happy Feet Dance" video.
and this is why they won!
woww. this is amazing (:
thanks for sharing this on youtube.
I so PROUD of KOREAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*i hug you the most*
mainly crew comps, and some one on one comps, but here in canada, i know ppl in canadian crews who have faced guys like hong 10, redfoot, born, and actually beaten them, just because kroea is winning highly publicized competitions doesnt mean theyre better
Koreans have both best power and style.. psk dont categorize them as only power i mean they have alot of style too but people just know em for power
its korean national anthem, with beats added obviously
Kim min Sung today he quited bboying but was really good at airflares + 1990s he quited and went to school in japan.
Hes reallly old he has white hair like all old people not sure when you get white hair when your old, my parents are 40 and no white hair but idk bout him
It's funny how on the bus, everyone tries to ignore the dancers. Some of them look away, but maybe move their feet away from them, lol.
Thanks
