I swearrrr Urazova has the best wolf turns and she's consistent with it. P.S. I miss Aliya Mustafina. She was my idol when I was a teenager. She was the queen of turns and uneven bars. I'm sad that she's retiring now. 😭
Love Urazova’s wolf turns! They’re such a breath of fresh air. I miss Mustafina too, especially for little details, like how she finished her triple turn in Doha right on the music - I hope she is enjoying her coaching though!!
This video is the definition of satisfying. I love the way everything is laid out (hah). Congrats to the editor, this was amazing to watch! Well performed turns really are a thing of beauty. ❤️ Some of my favourites are: Roxana's and Mustafina's triple Y turns Brooklyn's and Afanasyeva's double turns in back attitude Sanne's triple turn *on beam* (the 2017 Melbourne cup one is to die for 😍) And, of course, Eyhtora's turn combo, that's just a synonym of iconic
Thank you so much for the kind words! I try to edit my compilation videos with a lot of detail because in my previous experience, I’d find something interesting but have no other information if I wanted to learn more. I’m super happy that you enjoyed!! ☺️ I love all of the turns you mentioned, especially Sanne’s triple turn - she is so daring to go for such difficult turns and I’m really happy that it’s paid off for her. I also love Semenova turns in general - they’re so elegant and regal when done well :)
@@GymAnalysis Same here! :))) I absolutely LOVE your content. You are one of the best gym channels out there, and you make me understand gymnastics better. Keep up the good work! 😊👍
Thanks for commenting! I’m not actually super familiar with Daniella Sofronie, but I will definitely check her floor exercise out :D. She was from the era of intentional triple turns - today, it seems like most triple turns are just attempted Gomez turns!
I didn't know Grishina competed a triple turn actually! I know she had a Gomez at one point in 2013 on floor, but she never seemed to get it around with that factor that makes it satisfying to watch. When did she compete the 3/1?
The triple turn is named for Betty Okino! She was an amazing gymnast. I tried to do mainly modern gymnasts for better footage (although I guess the Li Li is an exception).
Marta's quintuple turn is very impressive, but her leg position ruins it for me with her knees so close together. Lots of great examples of nice turns here. Some may grumble at the inclusion of any wolf turns though, lol.
I’m also quite impressed by Marta’s turn, even if she has to sacrifice some of the beautiful positions that we see in other turns, just because of how difficult it is! I was debating whether or not to include wolf turns, but I’m personally not the biggest wolf turn hater so I decided to do it. I would like to know if some of the wolf turn antis are fine with turns by athletes like Urazova, who really do (in my opinion) make wolf turns look nice.
@@GymAnalysis Yeah I don't even know how gymnasts are able to do quad turns on a FX mat, let along a quint. No matter how much chalk you use, or if you wear socks, it burns like hell to turn on the floor because they're not designed to be slidey. The amount of torque needed to get more than 2 turns around is insane.
@@singsongeric True! I just looked at Marta's turn again, and I'm not even sure if she's wearing socks at all. I'm surprised her feet have survived training that quintuple turn to even see competition in the first place! Very impressive; I wish the code rewarded it more.
I love Lauren Mitchell, but I didn't include her because her turn always seemed a bit forced at the end. She's still super amazing and was really ahead of her time. I will say that I regret not putting "Mitchell" instead of "Triple Wolf Turn"!
You're correct! The turn I showed is from the team final, though, and Romania won a bronze in the team final. That's why I showed the bronze medal. Does that make sense?
I think that the Sugihara is super cool, but I’ve never seen it performed super cleanly? It would fit with the difficult theme but maybe not the “satisfying” theme. Is there a competition when she performed it really well that I’ve never seen?
@@GymAnalysis Would you consider putting podium training skills in these videos? Melnikova performed a really nice triple L turn in podium training in 2017. ua-cam.com/video/_j8TqwThQ-0/v-deo.html

All of the above were stand outs but when it came the gymnasts themselves, Ponor, Mustafina and Sanne are queens!
Why is a quintuple spin rated the same as the Gomez (quadruple)??

I really love Sui Li's connection on beam, no putting the foot down! Anything connected to an illusion turn is a fave.
Yes, 100% agree on the same leg connection! I wish we saw more of those in competition; they look so poised and difficult.
She is the favorite of my favorites on beam EVER.
So great! I think I could watch Sanne Wevers just spinning on the beam for an hour and not get bored.
Sanne’s turns are art. She is on another level with regards to turn consistency and difficulty on beam!

I love it too! I wish more gymnasts would compete it today.
Vlada's wolf turns are the best ever!
Yess! Someone said that she should teach a class on wolf turns, and I think she'd make a fantastic teacher 😆.

Love Vladizlava Urazova turns
Me too! It's really nice to see her bucking the trend of gymnasts throwing wolf turns for D value without working on making them beautiful.
Aliya turns are the best EVER without questions
She's such an innovator too! Love her turns.
Amazing video! To be honest, I really liked them all :)))

Daniella Sofronie (2004 Olympics Floor exercise TF and EF) Triple turn, that step out was gorgeous.

Svetlana Boginskaya had beautiful double turns on floor and beam. Sylvia Motiva had a beautiful double arabesque on floor.
Urazova's wolf!!! This is perfection!
Lyden Saltness' wolf turns on beam would be a great addition, too. Hers was sooo good, last winter cup.
Thanks for the suggestion! It's always nice to see gymnasts with good wolf turns :)

Fantastic! Thanks for helping me find it :D
Brooklyn Moors! 😍
I love the way she rotates on the notes in her Semenova in the 2018 routine... it's so gorgeous.
Satisfying & difficult
Wolf turns queens:
1)Vlada Urasova
2) Sarah Finnegan
3) Riley McCusker
Great choices! I love them all :)
Could've added Melnikova's double L turns and Listunova's Mustafina.
Both great options! When she's clean, Melnikova's double L turns are exceptionally beautiful :)
would you do whitney bjerken’s wolf turns or does it have to be elite?
I was only considering elite gymnasts, so I didn't even think of her, but I guess I could've put some turns from Whitney in there 😅
What about Betty Okino? Isn't the triple turn on beam named after her?
The triple turn is named for Betty Okino! She was an amazing gymnast. I tried to do mainly modern gymnasts for better footage (although I guess the Li Li is an exception).
