Hi I’d like to know is this the same process if my mini has the Harmon kardon sound system? I’d like to install a double din in the same way as this video but I can’t find any solid information if I need to do something different because my car has an amplifier (upgraded not factory amp)
So did you use the steering wheel interface on this ? I couldn’t see it in the items you had laid out you had the metra dash kit, the antenna, the data interface/wiring harness, and the Sony head unit. Did you skip doing the steering wheel controls for this installation? Or am I missing something I should know, I don’t want to buy to many things if I don’t need them as this is beginning to get expensive

Your mini cooper did not bring the amplifier, or did it bring it and it was not necessary to cancel it?
Great work! Loved the detailed process in the video, nice editing. I wish you had played some non-copyright music or material to demonstrate how the sony performs, playing music or connecting to smartphones for calls, driving directions, etc. Still great video, looks way better than OEM!

Hey great video the only thing is I was about to install the new radio n it started to drizzle.So I thought I would roll my windows up incase a down pour.plugged the 4 wires back up to the front panel...nothing works.The only thi ng that works is the fan blower.Window switches,door lock switch,heated seated seats switches,a/c,rear defogger none is working.checked all fuses good.Am I missing something Everything was working before I started working on the radio. Got any suggestions?
This "should" be the same for the 2008 MCS, correct? Is it safe to say you used the same amp thats stock? I would think yes since you used the stock wiring harness. Im tired of replacing the stock radio display, theres a definite sickness with these Minis about the display going out. Im on my 3rd display. If I replace the radio this time, with an aftermarket one, I wont have to worry about the OE display.... Thanks in advance.
Which stereo did you use the 6.95 7000, 5000, or the 7inch? They are both listed. Just curious because I want to do the same to mine but want to buy the right size stereo. 6.95 or 7 inch

I just did this install on my 2009 and now when I unlock it after sitting for a few hours, it will unlock the driver's door, but not the passenger side but the parking lights won't flash, and sometimes the gauges are dead for a few minutes and then they will come back to life. Everything seems perfectly normal if I shut it off and wait a few minutes. I just read on the North American Motoring forum that another user just did a similar install and is having similar issues as me. My only other symptom is that occasionally I will get all three brake warning lights in the tach that will come on. I suspect that if the parking brake is engaged sometimes the error light are triggered, but if I disengage the parking brake before startup it never happens. I'm starting to suspect problems with the CAS module or that the new head unit or harness is conflicting with it. I've reached out to RPM Motorsports who re-programs CAS modules to see if they have ever heard of this issue.
@@maximopacheco8688 yes, I had originally left the yellow wire coming from the chime box disconnected and ran a new un-switched power lead directly from the battery to connect with the yellow wire on the head unit harness. The yellow wire from the chime box needs to be connected to the yellow wire on the head unit harness as well. Once that was connected, everything operates perfectly.

This car is ridiculous. Every other car I've owned is just two radio keys and a harness. That's literally all it took. Like you have to go through a secret menu to get into the coolant temps. Know how I did it in my vauxhall? Looked at the dash lol Thanks for the video though it's much appreciated
No Sony radios have GPS but they do have Android auto and Apple carplay so you can plug your phone in and use that as your GPS. The 5,000 and up models will all have Sirius satellite radio capability but you will have to have a module with antenna to make it work
@@TheMalakyte we just connected a wire to the power wire of the radio which is the yellow wire. I would recommend using 16 gauge or above for the power wire so that it gets plenty of current. We just ran the wire behind the carpet up through the passenger side and through a grommet that goes directly to the battery on the passenger side in the engine bay. We put a eye loop on The wire that we ran and connected it to a terminal on the power terminal of the battery by bolting it down.
In the battery bay you will see a black round plastic cover. If you remove the plastic cover (which can be done by just loosening the battery and moving it forward), you will see what looks like tubes sticking out of them. If you cut the tip of the tube it will allow you to slide a cable thru the firewall into the passenger side under the dashboard. It is super easy to do and takes less than 15-30 mins. To make it easier remove the black cover over the battery bay its two nuts and comes right out.
I gotta say at the 10 minute mark, awesome job bro.. And I wasn't even watching properly.. Just watching on and off because at same time watching your video I'm trying to cut my bmw key fob open so I can swap a better case to it.. Plus I'm smoking some weed by myself too.. Lol. 🌿 👀 Plus drinking a whole bunch of Corona beers. Man, that's what want to do, and been looking into buying a head unit last week but the Indian woman put me off the whole idea of buying it.. Anywayz.. Man, I got infinity perfects with an infinity perfect sub.. And I've only had infinity reference 6x9's in the back dash, and 20 years ago, they sounded beyond awesome.. I can't wait to put these perfects in my car..🔊 👀 But, I still have to buy the head unit, wiring, with an infinity amp, with soundproofing all sound the car they reckon soundproofing your car makes quite a difference.. Yo 🚙🎶👀

You should have a blue with white stripe wire. If that is not getting power then your amplifier is not going to turn on

Sounds like your Footwell Module went bad.

Did you have to bypass the stock amplifier and what happens to the stock led screen that shows the channels

Yes, there is a video port and a reverse light trigger wire for a backup camera

Not sure what you mean but I would definitely stick with the metra wiring harness it is the only one that I know for sure works
