    Good advice! But please, don’t plant a Clematis for blooms while the Rose settles. It takes 3 years to fully bloom as well… You may combine them, though, but use a root protection for both plants (you can use several layers of cardboard so it rots away slowly) and choose a Clematis that gets cut every year (pruning group 3), otherwise you get problems trimming the Rose because Clematis vines break easily and you‘d ruin the plant when you try to keep the Rose healthy…🤪

    May I ask will an arch affect my roses growth?

      No cowj, I think an arch would work just as well. Keeping your main canes horizontal is the most important thing & id think you can zig zag your canes up & over jus like you can a trellis. 😊
