I'm using my wife's tablet. After Desert Storm, 10 of us were driving around the countryside and came across a small compound. It had solid walls on the outside with a gate going into a courtyard. There were several large rooms off the courtyard. Each room was full of weapons. Each room had the same type weapon. One room, about 20X30X10, was full of crates of K98s. We looked at some of them and there wasn't even a scratch on them. Our father's could bring them backafter WWII, but not us . In the other rooms were AKs, Rugs RPG 18s, and mortars. We set each room on fire to destroy it all. A big BUMMER!
I had a similar experience, but it was three crates of British .303 Lee-Enfield's. Oddly, there were Chinese characters on the crates. Just like you, they were stacked with a hundred other SKS and AK 47s, . . . and burned.
I bought a Yugo capture 98k from you about this time last year, and it is still to date one of my favorite rifles. A beautiful piece at one of the best prices on the market. Keep killin' it out there!
Many years ago I bought a M98 rifle from a gun shop for $25, one of the best shooting rifles I ever owned but I stopped using it in say 1988. I still have it and love it today.

I have a 2 week long acquaintance with using the K98K. I was a conscript in the IDF in 1970 and for the first 2 weeks of our 3 month long basic infantry training we were issued a mix of German & Czech made K98K Mauser rifles re-tooled to accept the 7.62mm NATO caliber cartridge. It was used back then for initial marksmanship training before we were issued with Israeli made (FN) FAL 7.62mm rifles which were the standard IDF infantry rifle at the time. I have no idea why we were first taught to use the K98K other than my guess that we raw recruits were only issued a 5 round clip for the bolt action rifle when we stood guard duty at nights rather than us recruits being given FAL's with fully loaded automatic 20 round magazine that they only trusted us with once we had learnt basic rifle skills. The K98K has the kick of a mule & I like most of the other recruits had bruised shoulders from firing it at the range. One other strange IDF practice back then was to issue us with bayonets for the K98K rifle to carry out bayonet practice but we were not issued with them for the FAL, not even for the march past at our passing out parade when the only soldiers who were given bayonets were the 4 escorts to the national flag & unit flags.
That is so interesting, I’ve always wanted to go pick up one of those IDF ones. When I was in Israel in January, I saw a lot of M-16 A1 from Vietnam that cadet to use.
I was about to mention exactly that. Some years back, when they were still completely legal without any type of firearms license or anything, someone had a WWII German K98k Mauser in perfect condition, and with all the applicable Swastika's and other symbols it came with out of the factory 80 years ago. Except it was an ex-Israeli rifle, and the Israeli's had rebarelled it in 7,62 NATO but left the Swastika's and German Reichs eagle on it, which I thought was interesting and funny considering the contradiction. The owner wanted €450 for it, but I was just a day or so late and it had already been sold. Several tears were shed over it, I can admit without shame. Such a gorgeous rifle, with such an incredibly interesting history.

During the war in the former Yugoslavia I fired a K98 a few times. To me it was a relic from WW1. Subsonic round. I had a room near the border between Croatia and Bosnia and when I'd turn my light out to go to sleep some mischievous Bosnian would fire a round over the roof. He undoubtedly knew me. He was just saying good night. But I'd hear the shot and then a while later the big slow bullet would go waddling over the roof, making a lot of noise.
My grandfather a Norwegian Resistance Fighter who fled POW, went to England and joined Canada's RCAF; in his collections he had a K98 1936 bayonet. I just looked up it's serial numbers and never thought it would be from a German rifle. It's in immaculate condition, definitely 'used' but it was taken care of, the more you know, very cool.
I was lucky to get my hands on a true German 1942 Kar 98k from a Military Memorabilia and gun show. Everything matched, except for the bolt, but still love it.
I have no problem with "Erika". To me its a song about the girl next door, the one you would have no problem bringing home to meet the parents and meet hers. Then, never forget her.
In the early '90s I would buy 6 Russian Capture Kar98k German issued, dated 1936-1944 for $89.95 each ($99.95 if you only got 1 to 5 of them) I did this several times, I would clean them up, mix & match parts, early stocks to early receivers etc. I would sell them to reenactors for $125.00 each. I don't know where they all are now but the ones just like I sold are now bringing $700-$900 easy.

Great find , have had many of different years and manufacturer's over the years , still have a Luft amt marked and a couple real late war commercial proofed eagle over N , also one long side rail sniper !
My father entered World War Two early, North Africa, then Italy and France. I have a beautiful Model 98 with all matching numbers. I had the bayonet with matching numbers, but it was stolen. I pull it out and shoot it sometimes. 8mm (7.92) is an accurate, long range,round. Dad told me the one he brought back hadn't been shot that much and was only dropped once. 🤔
I love the mauser action. Granted im a lefty so most bolts i dislike but i bought a lefty scout that has a LOOSELY based mauser action and man......even tho that gun hets alot of hate, i love it. Love having firends shoot it so they can get a taste of the leftys bolt bane. Wish i hadnt skipped on the 2 mausers i saw at the shop 5 years ago. Live ya learn. Trying to get the wallet up enough to grab a couple more surps, gotta love the holidays, and the brutal cold.........
The stocks give them away as well. Those resemble G98 stocks more than German Wartime K-98's. The stock on K-98K has a cut out through the stock for the rifle sling.
I would love to get one of these! Ive been collecting the ammo for one just never got around to buying the actual rifle. I have several boxes of 1943 dated ammo.

Out of all those rifles I didn't see any original sniper options .( no scope mounting, drilled holes )but I guess those are scarce in original condition with matching numbers and with a Zeiss scope .those models were actually issued to the known marksman of the time .
I have a couple of Soviet capture rifles that are nice. One in particular has the old Weimar Eagle is really slick, but the unmatched bolts kinda ruin them. These are really rare finds and are beautiful.
My Grandad burnt hundreds of those in bonfires after the war. He was contractor in the scap metals business. Most scrap was sent to England or Sweden. Cut up vehicles and armor
In the late 60’s I bought an 1898, 7.65, Argentine Mauser, in mint condition, for the princely sum of $15. Had the barrel cut & crowned and the bolt reforged, other than that it’s stock. Haven’t fired it in 50 years…
Centerfire systems had a ton of these rifles for around 900-1700 for the last few weeks. Considering these are in better condition than what centerfire has, whatever these are going to sell for is simply going to be so far beyond anything I could justify spending on a non-german issue k98. Man it sucks to be poor.
Around the year 2000 I bought 3 M48 Yugo Mausers from Centerfire Systems for I think $89.99 each plus 2 SKS’s for like $125. I just looked on their site they want $600.00. It looks like the days of picking up a cheap milsurp rifle are over. A brand new Savage is $369 at Sportsman’s Warehouse.

Because it been almost 100 years since they were made? Inflation is real? The population has grown by 10's of millions just in the usa, that causes many more people to have been buying the surplus with less stockpiles filling dealers wholesale? The "Call Of Duty" game effect is very real on gun buyers? Every youtube channel has been making videos these are the best guns to buy K98's & Mosins, while failing to mention the cheap ammo(that made the surplus such a good deal) is long gone, and now costs the same as hunting ammo for a similar caliber and size?Driving people to have to get them because all the youtubers say this surplus gun is a deal to buy, and they don't know any history outside of youtube? We have More demand than supply in the market place, the surplus rifles in every hardware and sporting section is long gone? Everyone "knows what they got due to the internet, even when they don't... People started putting together what was rare, was more valuable based on that with internet and you didn't have just serious collectors owning books, but the entire market place became able to look at their phone at gun show and see what made a gun more valuable, so the dealers started charging more for the ones people wanted over others. Take you pick from the above. Then you have those wire wheel grinder & belt sander butchers of Mitchells Mausers and their ads in every magazine for price anchoring. When theses surplus were cheaper people bought several. Then you had people with C&R , that had the license burning hole in their pocket, that would order another one just to use their license. They bought anything cheap because they could get sent to their door instead of going through the ffl hassle/fees of a store. Who have multiples that they might slowly flip one but will be cleared out for and by their kids doing their estate that see them as quick cash now, not items to hold on to for the grand children to have when the prices are even higher. They need new skins for "Angry birds" or "Candy Crush" or they'll loose out on the game... They're the ones that buying all the digital crap that they don't use within 6 months to year and cry about having no money or savings.. All those K98s in the back of closets and in attics will start to flood market in the next 10-30 years as people of age in their golden surplus days are passing away more & more. Where you have the people handing their estates taking them to a gun store, after they find out suddenly there really are these laws about selling guns and they don't want jail time!!!! So whatever the gun store will give to get them to officially get out of dealing with them is worth it. Those Gun store turns around and charges full market high end price, Especially if they were higher quality surplus(the earlier stuff was graded like regular store bought guns for conditions) that have been closet queens. Some will be sold for fair prices as people try to help the widows out, and not take advantage of people. The hard part is the vultures will be on the estate before the body is cold.........
Shot my first deer with a 8mm Mauser that my father sporterized. He did a bunch of them but he first one he kept the 8mm caliber. Most he sold or I gave away to my cousins as per his deathbed request. Unfortunately I didn't keep one for myself. I did keep some other guns though.

Portugal bought a lot of equipment from Germany at that time. Most of it was what was considered to be obsolete, so it's interesting to see that they sold them K98s which obviously weren't.

Yep, I get legitimate anxiety anytime anything over 500 gets posted because surplus isn't cheap anymore and I feel like a punching bag. In my defense, the only two other 937As I see right now available(gbroker) are 2700 and 4000 buy it nows.

@@TheMosinCrate Most stuff you sell is better priced than other places by a decent amount. If you priced it lower than that then someone would probably buy everything up from you and resell it. Just like boomers and the CMP. It sucks that milsurp is so expensive nowadays but there's not much you can do.

Lots of Israeli Mausers were sold to South Africa where they were mostly sporterized.

Every youtube channel has been making videos these are the best guns to buy K98's & Mosins, while failing to mention the cheap ammo(that made the surplus such a good deal) is long gone, and now costs the same as hunting ammo for a similar caliber and size?Driving people to have to get them because all the youtubers say this surplus gun is a deal to buy, and they don't know any history outside of youtube?
We have More demand than supply in the market place, the surplus rifles in every hardware and sporting section is long gone? Everyone "knows what they got due to the internet, even when they don't...
People started putting together what was rare, was more valuable based on that with internet and you didn't have just serious collectors owning books, but the entire market place became able to look at their phone at gun show and see what made a gun more valuable, so the dealers started charging more for the ones people wanted over others.

Then you have those wire wheel grinder & belt sander butchers of Mitchells Mausers and their ads in every magazine for price anchoring.
When theses surplus were cheaper people bought several. Then you had people with C&R , that had the license burning hole in their pocket, that would order another one just to use their license. They bought anything cheap because they could get sent to their door instead of going through the ffl hassle/fees of a store. Who have multiples that they might slowly flip one but will be cleared out for and by their kids doing their estate that see them as quick cash now, not items to hold on to for the grand children to have when the prices are even higher. They need new skins for "Angry birds" or "Candy Crush" or they'll loose out on the game... They're the ones that buying all the digital crap that they don't use within 6 months to year and cry about having no money or savings..
All those K98s in the back of closets and in attics will start to flood market in the next 10-30 years as people of age in their golden surplus days are passing away more & more. Where you have the people handing their estates taking them to a gun store, after they find out suddenly there really are these laws about selling guns and they don't want jail time!!!! So whatever the gun store will give to get them to officially get out of dealing with them is worth it. Those Gun store turns around and charges full market high end price, Especially if they were higher quality surplus(the earlier stuff was graded like regular store bought guns for conditions) that have been closet queens. Some will be sold for fair prices as people try to help the widows out, and not take advantage of people. The hard part is the vultures will be on the estate before the body is cold.........

Shot my first deer with a 8mm Mauser that my father sporterized. He did a bunch of them but he first one he kept the 8mm caliber. Most he sold or I gave away to my cousins as per his deathbed request. Unfortunately I didn't keep one for myself. I did keep some other guns though.
Hopefully these are made long before 1st. / 2nd. World war still unique .
I don't own any firearms at the moment. I wonder how this weapon would work for deer hunting?

Portugal bought a lot of equipment from Germany at that time. Most of it was what was considered to be obsolete, so it's interesting to see that they sold them K98s which obviously weren't.

Yep, I get legitimate anxiety anytime anything over 500 gets posted because surplus isn't cheap anymore and I feel like a punching bag. In my defense, the only two other 937As I see right now available(gbroker) are 2700 and 4000 buy it nows.

@@TheMosinCrate Most stuff you sell is better priced than other places by a decent amount. If you priced it lower than that then someone would probably buy everything up from you and resell it. Just like boomers and the CMP. It sucks that milsurp is so expensive nowadays but there's not much you can do.
@@TheMosinCrate Selling at value is nothing to be ashamed of. These are great looking rifles. I am currently looking for an early war Mauser like these but the front sights on these just aren't my cup of tea. They really do look like a M1917 Enfield sight.
@TheMosinCrate when I was a kid all I could afford was surplus ... over time the supply drys up and the demand grows along with the price , I own a small room with Long guns and armoire full of handguns. 30 years of buying, im glad your still in the game , people need to understand its not you that causes prices to rise
