I agree with you 100%. I also feel that some reverence should be practiced when we go into an estate sale of the recently passed. These kids that are selling the stuff of their parents are already raw and sad. To be pushy and rude is just lowbrow.
Wow first time viewer. From Houston Texas. Good for you for offering to pay more on those hats. I might have had to speak up with them rummaging through when the sale person wasn't even ready.
I noticed people starting becoming more rude since 2020. It's probably out of desperation. The majority of people at garage sales are reselling. Some do it for a living. As the prices of everything has increased dramatically over the course of the last four years, the resulting behavior is because of people's whittled patience and desperation. I want to share, if I'm first, since I'm nice, but nobody ever reciprocates. I tell myself, 'Next time, no sharing.' Hence, my attitude has changed as well. The worse people take stuff out of your hands or from under you when you are asking about a price or more information. Always hold onto something you are considering purchasing or make it know to the seller that you have a pile of items. They will enforce your claim, if you notice someone picking through your unpaid for claim.
See it all the time in Raleigh, NC. Mostly at thrift stores where people try to stand too close or literally reach right in front of me. I've started pushing back more and calling them out. It happens too much not to try and curb it a little. So much for southern hospitality!
@@tycetycebaby Agreed. Integrity is the key word. Competitiveness is necessary for resellers, but we all need to keep our integrity intact. I really hate rudeness.
@tycetycebaby As someone who's done yard/estate sales/flea markets/ thrift stores for 15 years, It's getting worse. I've never been so sick of rude a-holes as the last 2 -3 years. And the majority are "immigrants" They're being forced on rural towns & smaller cities. Anyone who says "its not all, you can't judge everyone by a few" is a clueless idiot. Yes "they are all this way" It's their culture The majority of them have Zero manners or integrity. They WILL STEAL ANY CHANCE they get. They're rude , aggressive, act like they own the place. In stores they crowd you, reaching front , force themselves between my cart & aisle. Theyll literally go thru your shit if they see something they want. They trash EVERYTHING. Areas of town once considered the nice side are littered with garbage, they will change shitty diapers & throw them on the ground. Stores are ransacked, like a bomb exploded. The checkout lines are 30 - 50 people deep & looks like I'm in Venezuela. Outside there's 3-4 within a half mile holding signs begging for money. IDC if this sounds r@ci$t, it's the truth. I sincerely HOPE/pray for the largest MASS deportation in world history come Jan 2025.
I find people in thrift stores see you looking at something and they come over and push up against you and start going through the stuff im already looking at. No manners.
I have a yard sale every few months. Don't have very many pushy people. Not too much trouble with overly aggressive resellers either.....but then again, I AM the reseller (storage unit auctions). If someone comes early, fine, but the tables will be empty and the opened totes are on the ground. I tell them feel free to go through the totes - you can use the tables to sort through them....and just leave the unwanted stuff on the tables. Half of my work putting things out gets done for me. Oh, and EVERYTHING already has a price on it. I've only had one bidding war break out. Somebody offered me $2 for a lamp marked $10. Somebody else said "I'll give you 5!" They went back and forth until the lowballer bowed out at $40 (geez people, the lamp didn't cost that much new!) People will do stupid things just to be able to claim they "won". Oh, and I gave the lamp to other guy free. The entertainment was worth it.
THIS!! All these new resellers with zero etiquette really bother me. Used to be such a friendly business where you'd get to chat with people. Now it's a mad dash to grab the best stuff first.
We are planning a yard sale but I'm worried we are going to basically give it away because people expect everything to be awesome deals. Definitely won't be able to put out any of my dads collections! Might go through an auction house to try and get the best price. He's got so much it's overwhelming to try online sales. I don't look forward to the pushy people because it is already a stressful day!
That’s a good idea. If you plan on selling them locally, depending on what the collections are, try KSL and Marketplace. Then if someone lowballs you, they’ll be easier to dismiss. If you have them at your yard sale, put prices on them beforehand so people get the idea of what you’re looking for.
I have mixed feelings about this situation. I agree that we resellers shouldn't be rude, pushy, or aggressive. But also, when you show up at a sale that looks good, you have to make split second decisions or miss out on the good stuff. You were first, but these people jumped on the stuff. They probably didn't know you were waiting for stuff to come out. I just think you slept on it, imo. It's happened to us. We're casually making conversation with the owners, while we wait for more stuff to come out, only to get sniped by someone meaning business. Ultimately, it was on us for apparently not wanting it more.
I was more offended for the people holding the sale than I was that I missed out on the deal. I’m fine taking the L. Hard balance to strike being urgent and courteous.
Sometimes you gotta be a little pushy to get the stuff first. What she did wrong imo is negotiate down an already great price. That is prime a-hole reseller behavior right there. I really, really wish the seller didn’t budge.
I am not a reseller I try to be polite however I don't have much money so I get what I can because some people who resell they will grab all the good stuff yes I do ask if they will come down in price because I don't have much money and if they do I thank them and say I really appreciate it. Now if something is a very good buy I won't ask for them to come down in price.
Nothing wrong with a bidding war on the front lawn! Personally I can't stand resellers and cheapskates they're always looking for something for nothing.
Seriously? Because I was under the impression that businesses/corporations make it a habit of doing business with multiple possible buyers, in an attempt to get the most money. That's just how s*** works, since like.... Forever. Google the word "auction", it'll blow your mind.
What if I’m willing to pay more? I’m sure the seller wouldn’t mind. Supply and demand. It’s a little inconsiderate to the other buyer but so is their lowballing.
The horrible etiquette is stepping into someone else's yard sale purchase and offering more. Holy crap, she's far more composed than I would've been. How tacky. The people having the yard sale are there to make money. Rarely do they care if you start shopping before they're done putting out everything. It's not black friday. I can't believe you actually think YOU weren't out of line.
I agree with you 100%. I also feel that some reverence should be practiced when we go into an estate sale of the recently passed. These kids that are selling the stuff of their parents are already raw and sad. To be pushy and rude is just lowbrow.
“THAT GUY HAD A LITTLE BIT OF CLASS” lol
👀
You are a nice guy that's why I watch your videos where I live that type of rudeness is rampant.

Good points. Don’t stop being kind though, even if there’s no reciprocation. You’ll benefit from it in the long run.

I feel you bro. Some of these people are Insufferable it's mind blowing
8:20 There’s definitely some valuable Indy pops out there, unfortunately, this one isn’t quite as valuable as the others.
🙏🏻
Great score on the cassettes! Wish I could walk up on a box full like that. They are making a comeback! Great video bro!👍
Thanks Janie!
It amazes me when shoppers show up super early & give low ball offers, then get upset when they dont make the deal
People are so aggressive at sales in your area. I guess I am lucky living in a rural area where people generally don't act like that.
Where you come from people aren’t willing to sacrifice their integrity for a sleeve of baseball hats haha

YES! I sat my purse down to look through jewelry tray & woman literally tried to go thru it. Smh
Low balling like that on 80 hats is crazy smh. Shame on them lol. Great finds tho 🔥

That’s a good way to do it. Your sales sound fun!
I agree with this video so much… Southern California has a lot of older heads doing this…
THIS!! All these new resellers with zero etiquette really bother me. Used to be such a friendly business where you'd get to chat with people. Now it's a mad dash to grab the best stuff first.
Yeah, I don’t mind a sense of urgency but the desperation is too much. Takes the fun out of it

subbed by the way! like your style!
Appreciate it! 🙏🏻
Can’t beat my area where they are hitting the houses days before the garage sale even happens.
Sheesh, that is overboard
ive stopped going to yard sales as often because of how intense everyone is 😤
Hey, get back out there! Too many good sales to miss out on!
They do that all the time.. I've had folks to take stuff out my hands
🤦🏼♂️ hate to hear that

Geez people be gettin crazy 🥴
Aw, your foot was right under the Coach purselet! You should at least have taken a look at it! At 7:26 of the video.
Great catch! I saw that when I was editing and missed out! 💀
Your daughter is BEAUTIFUL
Oh a reseller complaining about his own medicine 😂😂😂 boo frickin hoo!!!!
I’m competitive but I don’t do that to people
I am not a reseller I try to be polite however I don't have much money so I get what I can because some people who resell they will grab all the good stuff yes I do ask if they will come down in price because I don't have much money and if they do I thank them and say I really appreciate it. Those tapes 😮
Good on you! I would have outbidded her for lowballing him
Nothing wrong with a bidding war on the front lawn! Personally I can't stand resellers and cheapskates they're always looking for something for nothing.
Most resellers aren’t like that. It’s the people who act like who give us that reputation sometimes
No you shouldn't get in when somebody's trying to make a deal It's.
Up to the seller If they think they're offering to Low of a price.

Lowballers suck & all's FAIR until you've paid.
What if I’m willing to pay more? I’m sure the seller wouldn’t mind. Supply and demand. It’s a little inconsiderate to the other buyer but so is their lowballing.

Her lowballing for less than .50¢/hat is fine with you? 🤣 She didn’t buy them yet. What’s so wrong about me offering to pay the seller more?
