I did research and was antipating 4 weeks of recovery for my tummy tuck and "gaining" 20lbs for swelling. But I forgot to buy clothing that would fit my swollen body. I had researched but in my excitement I forgot it was 3ish months of my clothes not fitting. I also planned to take 1 month off and have tons of support but my surgeon told me I'd be fine in 2 weeks and I wouldnt need help with anything by then. She also didn't mention I wouldnt be able to drive for 7 days. I love your podcast because it really is raw info about recovery that I wish I knew. For my upcoming surgery I'm trying to prepare more.

I'm not a smoker or vaper, but my husband was a smoker but traded in for vaping. (Very annoyed by this because I'm in the health/ fitness industry!🙄)
Will his second hand vaping effect me? I have a lipo consultation in a couple weeks and just researching the risks, benefits, what I can do to reduce the risks for better benefit.

Hi Monica! Thanks for watching! Yes, secondhand smoke should be avoided as much as possible following surgery. It would be wise to avoid being around your husband while he is vaping as much as possible. As long as you avoid inhaling his vape smoke your healing/recovery should be totally fine :)

@@JasonMartinMD Thank you! Your videos have been very helpful!
Great to know! I've already asked him to stop vaping in front of me. Hoping it will get him started on quiting.
I ordered a home urine nicotine test, just to check if it is in my system. Don't know how reliable those tests are but am curious.

That’s awesome, Monica! The home nicotine test should be pretty accurate and great motivation for your husband as well!

@@JasonMartinMD I took the test, I tested negative! Thank god! Hope it does motivate him to quit! Thanks so much for being so helpful. Wish you were a Seattle doc. 😉

Yay! Sometimes it just takes a little push to make a change. There are so many great surgeons in Seattle, I'm sure you'll have an amazing result!

Without his glasses Dr. Marvin bears a striking resemblance to Hollywood Icon Lee Marvin.

He does! I think it's the lips/mouth area. Thank you for watching!

Just had my lipo procedure 1 month ago tomorrow. I honestly expected more pain than I had. Didn't use the narcotic prescribed at all. Just Tylenol was enough for me. I do get nerve-zingers from time to time. I did expect this to happen.
I call the paperwork the Bible of it's your fault if we kill you. Sign here! It made me sweat to read that thing.
One thing I didn't expect is how uneven my swelling is. I expected to be very bruised and swollen, but a bit worried about what looks like a dent to my inner knee to just slightly above the knee only on my left. I'm still swollen and hoping this all resolves! I am getting my lymphatic massages they are helping with my mobility and pain mostly. He didn't mention it at my post-ops. I didn't bring it up because he didn't, which made me believe it might be normal. I will bring it up at my next post-op next week if it's not even slightly resolving.
    Really don't want to do a round 2! 😒

That's awesome, Monica! Yes, bruising and swelling are not usually symmetrical from side to side. Most (if not all) people have a more swollen side and it may even switch sides during recovery as the body works to process inflammation.

Does low dose aspirin count as dangerous?

    • @JasonMartinMD
      @JasonMartinMD  8 місяців тому +1

That would depend on the context/situation. Low dose aspirin is contraindicated for around the time of surgery for most elective surgeries.
