The problem of always having the humans lose pathetically to the side villains is that after a while, it does nothing to promote them as threats to the saiyans, it only makes us see the humans as meaningless fodder (which is probably why Akira barely bothered with them after the Buu saga). Yamcha and Tien should at least have put up a fight for a minute or two, even if the villains later say they were not using their full power.

Toryiama didn't bother with the humans at all. Even from the start of the Saiyan saga. Truth is, Toryiama is a horrible writer and can't write anything that doesn't involve Saiyan's. Saiyan's use to be something special but now they're so over done I just don't care anymore about Saiyan's and super Saiyan's. Looking back on this, i see how DBZ had always nerfed everyone on the Z-Team except Goku (and Gohan to a degree) for not being able to at least beat the henchmen, but hey you have to gives props to Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Trunks, Piccolo, and Vegeta for defending their world against these threats that are far more forboding than the last. Then again these main villains were usually OP'd to the point that Goku himself had struggled to attain victory and does so by either attaining a new/temporary transformation or gathering energy from everyone to finally put them down once and for all.

Krillin is in no way stronger then Tien or Yamcha, he might be equal with the both of them but not stronger. Those 3 stood in the same power level zone without one of them showing something that could prove otherwise. Even in the dbz sagas, during the cell jr Tien and Yamcha fought better compared to Krillin, and in the Buu saga, Yamcha and Krillin are seen being the last ones standing vs Kid Buu before Goku and Vegeta call for him.

Tien is far stronger than Krillin, period. Can people please stop trying to say otherwise? I know what Toriyama said, don't bother repeating it. Toriyama has said a lot of things, and he has contradicted himself more times than can be counted. Hell, he's forgotten characters even existed. Tenshinhan has proven himself stronger in every way except for a very small period after Namek, and even that is disputable if you count the filler where he beat Burter and Jace in split form which halves his total power.
The main comment stands. This is yet another example of Toriyama completely fucking up the humans in Z. The only people they have actually managed to beat alone were Saibamen, and even Yamcha lost to one. You'd think he'd have let them at least beat henchmen like these, while Gohan fights Bojack, but no, Toriyama can't be bothered to balance the characters he spent all of Dragonball building into badasses.
Toriyama created one of the best Animes ever, but looking at it now as an adult, I realize how poorly he handled the characters compared to almost any other fighting Anime.

Toryiama didn't bother with the humans at all. Even from the start of the Saiyan saga.
Truth is, Toryiama is a horrible writer and can't write anything that doesn't involve Saiyan's. Saiyan's use to be something special but now they're so over done I just don't care anymore about Saiyan's and super Saiyan's. I mean when Toryiamas idea of new and fresh is just changing the color palate that's a clear sign the man is a shit writer

Yeah, I don t know why but starting with Z, Toriyama started hating human fighters, especially Yamcha. Even if they re not strong enough to compare with major villains like Frieza or Cell, they could at least show some REAL fight with minor villains, like the ones in movies. Instead they just get humiliated without even posing a real fight, everytime. Really, Toriyama and DB authors, WHY?

The humans are always easily defeated. Was never a fan of it.
Consider these two, Yamcha and Tien. Years of training, contenders of the World Tournament; both of them trained for some time beneath the famed King Kai, and after that spent years training in preparation for androids. Compared to previous threats in the series -- King Piccolo, Nappa, Saiyan Saga Vegeta, the Ginyu Force, even Freiza in his early forms -- these two are titans.
I'd have preferred to see them stand their ground here for a bit, even if they lose in the end. Get a few good hits in; maybe shock us with a showing of Kaio-ken, something we hadn't realized they learned from King Kai. Seeing them get humiliated isn't much fun.

Yamcha gets crap for retiring from fighting, but fights like these show he made the right choice. The human characters are never going to keep up, and outside of a moment here and there, stopped being relevant after the Frieza saga.

Remember how Dragon Ball Fusions had that had that fusion that incorporated multiple people? What if the humans got something like that. Tien's techniques and power, Krillin's adaptability, and Yamcha's instincts all wrapped into one fighter. Or maybe that is too far out there to work.

They're weak because they dont get transformations, they dont get zenkais, and they're not related to goku. Humans tend to be the weaker race in shows, comics, and movies because we're not that remarkable. The exceptions that exist in the human race arent that strong because theyre still hindered by their genetics. Also, its not like the humans are the only weak ones in DBZ. Most Namekians are pretty weak, and most of Freiza's men are creampuffs.

The issue with Dragonball as a whole is the inconsistency of power levels.
During DBZ it was reasonable enough, but in Super you even have Gohan and Piccolo getting owned by Frieza's unnamed grunts. That's just wrong.
