Your version looks much more like actual underwater. I went on a submarine before and I can attest that your's actually looks more like real life. Great job!
Hi Rico, Wow, I never thought to use the histogram like that before. I also never played with the end points of the RGB (or Tone) curve. Those are amazing tips! Now I will go back to re-editing some of the photos I took in the aquarium in Valencia. Keep up the amazing work.
That is an awesome aquarium. I've been there too! A few years ago (before I met my gf) I went on a road trip to Spain by myself. Always loved the country and since I can manage myself language wise, it was a logical place for me to go. Can't wait till corona is over and we can visit Spain again 😁. If I didn't met my girlfriend, I'd be living in Barcelona now!
I think the White Balance module automatically balances the RGB graphs if you select spot colour (with the bounding box around everything). But it's still a useful trick with the RGB curves to then tweak it manually. Thanks, I learned something new.
Thanks Rico, these videos and tutorials are so helpful. Is there any chance you can show us how to split images in darktable to make a landscape into a swipe picture in Instagram? Hope you know what I mean. If you've already done this I'd love to see it but couldn't find anything about this on UA-cam for darktable.
Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, darktable isn't suited for that. In theory you could crop out half, export it and then crop out the other half and export that. However, it's much more easy to do with GIMP. So it's not impossible in darktable, but it is very annoying to do lol.
Hi Rico, I love watching your Darktable videos short & sweet. Please keep doing it, it helps a lot. I have 1 question though, most of my time when I process my RAW images in darktable, the end result still has that white cast in the images, can you let me know how I can remove it.
What kind of white cast and what kind of image are you editing? Feel free to email me at enterthevlogosphere@gmail.com with your picture. I'll have a look :)
Great video Rico. One question - in my version of Darktable, 3.4 I believe, the histogram doesn't have the option to show RGB separated as does on yours - am I missing something?
This is what you call quality content. Keep it up!
Hello Rico. A great tutorial - very simple and helpful. Have a great day!
Thanks, I was actually amazed by the end result myself. Didn't expect it to "clean up" so much!
Fijne tutorial. Simpel en werkt zoals je wilt dat het werkt. Ik ga aan de slag. Doei!
Super om te horen!
Great tip, Rico - thank you! This works better for me than White Balance.
That's so great to hear!
Thank you Rico. Just watched this again, absolutely AWESOME! I had seen this color leveling technique for other programs but not Darktable.
Awesome to hear that Jim, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment!
This helps me understand the High Pass filter more!
Here's a dedicated video on the high-pass module:

Many thanks for this excellent tutorial from Austria!!
Thank you Hartmut!
That histogram toggle trick is very interesting. Learned a lot from this video. Thanks.
Awesome Brian! Great seeing you here again! Are you interested in the Davinci videos too?
@@RicoResolves I'm not into video at all right now. Once I get a camera with IBIS, I might dabble in video a little bit.
That was very educational Rico. Nice to have something very different that can be applied elsewhere.
Thanks Mark! Much appreciated!
really well explained. Thanks very much.
I'm glad this video was helpful. Thank you very much for commenting. Hope to welcome you as a new subscriber!

Genious trick! Guy thanks
I have been waiting for the second part of the darktable + luminar video.
Soon :)

With an image this blue, it's not possible to get good results without using this technique.
Brilliant solution! Just brilliant! Thanks so much. Didn't make love to the like button, but I did give it a good poke. ;-))
Haha thank you Michael!
Thanks Rico! I took some pictures on a aquarium and they looked too much blue, I'll follow the tips to make them look better!
Let me know how it turns out!
this was great
Best tutorial, thanks for it
Thank you for sending the image Iki! It was lovely working on it!

Lol I did notice it was annoying!! I'll check out GIMP then. Keep up the good work!

@@RicoResolves Thanks a lot. I have emailed you. :)
I was noticing you were using Legacy in the module order instead of v3.0 any particular reason? Loved the video either way!
I'm a creature of habit I guess!
@@RicoResolves I am completely new so wondering if I should legacy or v3... modules?
@@RicoResolves Especially since I am watching several of your videos which are pre version 3 modules...
@@RandallKayfes you can use darktable anyway you like. That's the great thing about the creative space.
Great video Rico. One question - in my version of Darktable, 3.4 I believe, the histogram doesn't have the option to show RGB separated as does on yours - am I missing something?
Mmm it should be able to! Do you select the right pictogram to change the histogram?
Why not find a grey point in the picture and use the eyedropper to manually set the white balance as in Photoshop?
Cause it'll have a cast for sure
i want to try this soon with car pictures
Let me know how it works out!
