Looks great fun , all I’d say is from owning one of these the engines struggle to make is passed 110k with standard power. Not sure how long it would last with a turbo strapped to it ?
Mine has 240k km on it and still running strong on the stock engine
What is the estimated hp, torque and 0-60 with this kit and base map?
Around 200bhp & 220lb/ft

Whatever engine you tune there is a risk associated with significant power increase, It all depends on how you treat and maintained the engine. We’ve not seen one fail with this turbo kit so far - but that is always relative to how it is driven and treated
do i need any supporting mods or can my car be standard to have it turbo'd?
This kit gives you all the supporting mods needed
Turbo, manifold, Downpipe, intake & sensors etc
Can the gearbox handle the power ? Because used tú break just with the stock power

Depends on how much you love the car tbh, I’ve never been a fan of throwing power through FWD setups so personally I’d be putting the money towards something to my taste. That said though, the sound of this turbo kit is worth a majority of that money! The response and difference is mega compared to a stock ST

Also the st can only take 10 psi until forged the 1.6 couldnt barely handle 5psi

Should of mentioned - it does come with a “base map” file, however to get the best a good custom tune would be needed yes
Prob I have with people who turbo these cars is you loose what makes them so special and different to all the turbo hot hatches out there.
Yes it has more power and I'm sure I would enjoy that. But the sound of the NA engine is so invigorating. My plan is to just up the stock power a little as for me 148bho in these cars is such fun. Lets you hear the noise as it slowly gains speed. Can only legally do 70mlh on UK roads anyways so it's nice to enjoy the journey 😁
these cars were boring and underpowered in their day. They were absolutely no competition in their class of hatchbacks. Clio 182, 206 GTi, Corsa vxr etc, completely outclassed the ST. This car should've been turbocharged from factory.
@@dubbled5287 turbo hot hatches were not the big thing in 2005 as far as I know. The car that it compared more closely to was the Corsa SRI or C2 VTS. It's of that era of NA cars.
Also Ford developed the car at the time to be underpowered to make it slightly more affordable. They easily could of made it more of a Clio172 powered car but restricted it's power.
Plus just personally I am not a fan of turbo engines. NA always sounds so much better. On UK roads it's great fun and out corners loads of cars that have a lot more power. Not all about straight line speed
One thing you do get from the STs stock engine, is an engine that was put in caterhams and the BAC mono, and a platform that cosworth built race engines on. This gives us an massive selection of aftermarket parts available.
Because it's a chain driven DOHC with big valves, and oversquare bore/stroke design, you get good airflow and can more importantly rev the shit out of them - 9500 rpm can be achieved.
Built to withstand 9k rpm, with ITB's, standalone ECU and supporting mods gets you to the 300 mark; but it'll cost you 3 times as much as a turbo

@@ravailhussain6556 Sooo in that case, how much boost can a stock engine take without exploding or having severe knock ? Just curious on how strong these engine really are.
10 psi it take it to 245bhp but you also gotta know the engines health if its been screwed then its not going to last long its all about keeping the engine maaintained more power you have to forge the engine and it will see over 300 400 plus depending on setup 👍🏼 @@TheKrystiano91
