    Why the head so low??

Because it’s a reining horse and that’s how they’re trained to hold their heads

Hi, I am just learning how to do sliding stops and I’m riding this horse that stops really well but I always get pounded into the pommel or I get launched out of the seat. I’ve been trying to put all my weight in my stirrups but I can never sit it. Do you think my weight could be part of the problem (100lbs)? If not what can I do to sit the stop better?

You don't want the weight in the stirrups, sit it on your cheeks and if anything scoot forward in the saddle so you can roll onto your cheeks keeping your shoulders over your hips. With the weight in your stirrups you'll be off balance no matter how well the horse is stopping.

Your pockets (back pockets of your jeans) sit on your pockets don't put any weight in the stirrups. Your stirrups really don't do anything they are just to hold your feet and legs in a good position so you can ask your horse for the right cues so sit on your pockets when you stop you can use your saddle horn in the beginning to kinda hold yourself down in the saddle until you can really sit deep on your pockets
