How to be a better hunter : Volume IV Real Stuff. Man I we lucky to have men like him to put in work to publish data we would never have known. RT Team we love ya ❤️🇺🇸
Thanks for putting this together Karl! I learned a lot from this series and had fun watching it. Now I just need to put it all together for an Elk hunt next week. Hope to train with you next year sometime.
The tube over the end is called a sunshade. Its designed, just like the one on the end of the lens you are using to film this, to prevent the sun from bouncing around into the scope and causing hazing/distortions/optical aberrations. I have honestly never needed to use one on a rifle. But there is a use for it especially hunting, if from your position you are looking towards the sun, this will actually give you much better clarity in your scope because it will cut down on the amount of light rays bouncing off angle inside the tube in the scope. It does seem to be the taticool favorite, but honestly, it does have a use. If they have a honeycomb in them, that is designed to kill the flash from observation of reflections. The hollow tube is to prevent issues when looking through the optic towards the light source.
Lots of good info. If possible, would you please do a lesson on navigating in the dark? I currently wait to move into an area until I can start to see where I'm going. It would be nice if I could start moving into the area I want to hunt while it's still dark and without the use of light. Are you going to do a Project Valkyrie again?
Great stuff Karl! The IWOM is a great piece of kit. Good tip on using the Thermal to find a downed mammal at night, it would have been great on my Elk kill last season.
that IWOM is GREAT!!! I got it as a xmas gift a few years back & thought id never use it for anything!!! I hunted late bow season here in Indiana that year & it was snowing/COLD, I thought why not!! it goes with me on every trip now if theres even a chance of rain/snow or its COLD!! thanks for sharing with us!!one thing you missed, was the safety harness for stand use!! our state has a program they call "don't be a thud"!!(yea I know bad name LOL) but its to make hunters aware that there are several hunters every year that are killed from falling out of a stand!!
Great information as always and a wonderful conclusion to the series. I don't know why this comes to mind now when I am out in the field, but the only thing I would add, is that if you come across a critter, that's worth shooting, remember "anyone worth shooting once, it is worth shooting twice." That too should help minimize the need for a "support group" after the hunt for failing to have achieved the desired result. Just a little humor. Great work TR Team!
Thanks Karl, for helping me get that 1,000 yard shot at the range earlier this week during the Patreon Course. That's the furthest I have ever shot and I will not ever forget it. Just may try for a mile next year if you agree to be my spotter! Great time, great memories!
I watched a psychology video once and it stuck with me. It always takes a second glance to see the dancing bear. My point don't be detracted by the now, always look deeper.
Great tips awesome gear . But sometimes it takes the fun out of it. I mean old school hunting is fun too. I guess it’s your preference but if it’s too easy it kinda takes the sport out off it.
Hi Karl, I wish I was 40 years younger. You are the man. Keep up the great video's. I hope one day we can do a meet and greet. We have 2 different backgrounds I am a 38 yr retired LEO.
Thanks young man. Quick question, I know your a Eotech guy. Have you used the magnifier option? Trying to figure out if it's worth the added expense! God bless!
Karl love the vids man and agree almost with everything you say but for hunting deer (and only for deer) I have used cheap scopes for many years with great success. Now this is me in my situation a 100 dollar scope has been great
Natalie Deyton Yea that’s probably because you’re skilled. Better scopes make it easier for people with poor eyesight in my experience. And they don’t fog up when compared to Chinese crap
CARL NEEDS TO READ THIS! *IF YOU TELL PEOPLE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO TO SKIP TO THE END THEN REPLAY, IT WILL HELP SO YOU DONT HAVE TO PUT BREAKS IN IT*
I started hunting this year, and literally plan each hunt like an ambush too. I also keep an alcohol wipe taped to the back of my map cause old habits are hard to break.
Excellent stuff Karl. Personally, I'm a meat hunter. Bucks are nice as you have a trophy to hang on the wall, but I like shooting the young does. The meat tastes better and is more tender. That said, I hunted out in NE years ago and shot a nice Mule deer, a 7 point buck. He must have eaten nothing but grass and sage because it was the worst smelling and tasting venison I ever had. Now I stick to areas that provide a better diet to the deer and the younger they are, the better they are on the grill, lol.
Don’t forget safety equipment when hunting from an elevated stand. More people get hurt from falling getting in and out of the stand than anything while hunting.
probably not the right place for it... BUUUuuuuttt do you think you could show us what your gear might look like to partake in operation valkyrie? I wont make this year but i have my list and will start training for 2021. also on a real mission would you just run a long gun and side arm?
Hunting is a dying sport in massachusets but there is a solid market ma lawmakers passed law saying road kill is ok to eat could only imagine people stopping picking up twitching raccoons every spring I would rather have people with proper gear hunting in my area or survival hunting without permit then eating carcasses off road. I like your information I definitely need an upgrade and tune up training and sportsman guide is great nice promotion
What would you say is a versatile hunting caliber? Out here in Oregon I could be looking at shooting a deer within 100 yards in a forest area, and yet shooting elk or bear out to 500-600 yards. Would also like to able to use it for predator or target shooting as well.
Just out of curiosity, do you have a backup platform like bitchute? UA-cam has been cracking down on content they don’t like. I realize that they mainly target right wing political channels, and a couple left wing channels but they did remove a history/sword channel without warning because the guy tested a “ninja” fire pot to see if it actually worked. It’s good to see they haven’t demonetized you and they haven’t put anti gun ads on your channel like they did Garand thumb. But they might start going after gun channels hard over the next year or two. After all, politicians demonize the AR15 when all rifles combined kill less people than knives. Or blunt objects. So it’s not too much of a stretch to figure they’d pressure UA-cam to go after gun channels and such. Perhaps look into Jeorge Sparve’s UA-camrs Union.

Norwegian jaeger joke.
Officer to shivering jaeger: Soldier, are you cold?
Jaeger: No sir, I'm on silent mode.

I'll add the night land navigation to the video idea list. Yes, we are already selling seats for Operation Valkyrie, just not advertising it yet. TR

Great Video! I'm mopping-up what you're spilling. The IWOM (hunting snuggie) just went on my Christmas list. 👊
It is awesome

That gear looks familiar. Awesome stuff. I’m trying to pull a doe tag tonight 🤣. That blind looks like the same one i have in the master bedroom
Yes it is awesome series on this thank for doing this series
Japanese and German glass are the best.
True that. ButI also like vortex scopes.
I watched a psychology video once and it stuck with me. It always takes a second glance to see the dancing bear. My point don't be detracted by the now, always look deeper.
*Tactical Rifleman* thanks for taking the time, great tips. God Bless, brother.

I’m so glad you used the F.A.G. acronym. Such an operator term. Former Navy EOD here.
And I get you on cold weather injury and downrange effects. I had a bit over 2 hrs bottom time in a 41 deg Pax River. Cold is the damn devil!
Thanks for watching, and thank you for your service. TR
Likewise, brother.

Great series Karl

Thanks young man. Quick question, I know your a Eotech guy. Have you used the magnifier option? Trying to figure out if it's worth the added expense! God bless!
Some guys like them. I personally do not like them, as the create a blind spot. If I need magnification, I’ll grab a gun with a 1-8x scope on it. TR
Thanks. I'll use that money on a scope!
Perfect timing. Heading out today to fill my tag in the next few days. Good luck everyone.
Best of luck
Excellent content thank you Karl and team!

Great channel sir. Keep up the good work!

Missing in the list a Slick Gucciflage sleeve for the rifle….
How am I first? Im never first. Thanks for sharing, keep up the good work!
You were still not first lol
@@bsecat7252 but...but....UA-cam said I was!
Great video bro i run a Steiner scope and vortex rest of the way thx
What the hell is a Parker? Lol. Are you in Kentucky or upstate new York.
"[support group for missing that buck]" lol
Dropping knowledge and dropping jokes, so we can drop that meat.
From dog tags to doe tags. Will that tripod and rifle can even fit in the large ground blind?
Yep. That blind will hold a whole family
Don’t forget safety equipment when hunting from an elevated stand. More people get hurt from falling getting in and out of the stand than anything while hunting.
Agreed
Karl is the man...
I have a set of shooting sticks i got from the garden section of homedepot i modified from garden steaks and rope it only cost me 8 dollars

You can see all kinds of pictures from last year’s Op Valkyrie, showing gear layout. Just rifle pistol is fine
“I’m a fag now. Former Action Guy.”
Karl, don’t you ever change 👍
There wasn't a live stream this week, was there? Sorry Karl, last couple weeks have been a bit crazy.
Nope. I’m in San Antonio
@@TacticalRifleman Oh, right.
That commercial break timing thouugh
Karl... What is your opinion on the Trijicon AccuPower MRAD Scope...???
Good scope from great company. Wish I had one to play with. I personally have not tested it. TR
i hunt with a crossbow and beleave it or not im better with an iron sight

I've already been stocking the blind turn on my street. I've already shoveled 2 squirrels this week. I cant wait for deer season.

308 is a well rounded caliber
Tactical Rifleman what’s your thoughts on 6.5 Creedmoor?
I want that IWOM, but... what the heck is a “parker?” Is that how KY folks say “parka?”🤣
Upstate New York accent
Karl. I’m gonna be too broke to hunt after buying all this Gucci shit

Hi
Make sure you know the law where you are hunting. Some equipment, particularly technology cannot be used in some locations.
Agreed
Wow so many comments coming in, do you need a hand getting back to people? 😂😂
Yep
I keep noticing Karl has nice veins im sure phlebotomists, Medical Assistants and nurses like sticking him 🤣😂
Yep
UA-cam literally put an ad about half a second before your break and cut you off mid sentence. That’s some jackassery on their part right there.
Yep. They hate us
best snipers in the world are from US my ass mate georgian snipers are the best
Texas Red Productions no.
