SOMEONE DUG A TUNNEL TO AN OREGON BEACH

- Oceanside, Oregon has a unique tunnel. It’s not for cars or trains. It’s for beach-goers. And rock hunters.
You pass through this tunnel carved through a mountain to reach a remote beach. While there if you’re like Lynn you look for agates in the surf. Short Beach is known as the capital for hunting agates on the Pacific Northwest coast and Lynn loved it. We show you the tunnel and what she found in the surf as well as a Harvest Host where we spent two nights in Tillamook, OR.
Many ask us about the things we use in our van so we’ve listed those here. We’re in no way suggesting that you run out and buy these items but if you see something we’re using and think, “Hey, I could use that”... then here are the links to do so.

Tillamook....my hometown.
Beautiful place.
Dec 2020, land slide almost sealed off the tunnel, with people inside.
Wow, we didn’t know that, thanks for the information.
The beach at the north end of the tunnel is has always been called “Lost Boy Beach”. The next beach north, which only has public access at very low tides, is called “Agate Beach”. The next beach, just south of Cape Mears is called “Short Beach”.
My grandfather and his brother had my uncle and a hired miner dig and blast out this tunnel one summer. The State of Oregon now owns it and is supposed to keep it open so that people can access the beach at the north end of the tunnel.
Thank you for sharing all this information, it’s so cool your family help dig out this tunnel, it’s such a unique and beautiful place.
Reminds me of “Goonies”, also filmed in Oregon.
It was a little bazar, but cool at the same time. Thanks for watching.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle what do they sale at bazaar, or do u mean bizarre?
Another great video! I keep saying that like you keep saying it's great to get back in the van, take a break & have some lunch. lol Definitely joining Harvest Host when I hit the road. Love the unique locations. My niece & Lynn would get along great. She's picked up rocks since she was a little girl. There's 3 tiny ones in my car now that she picked up over a yr ago that I don't have the heart to throw away bc she took the time to pick them up. Most ppl would think just some dumb rocks, but Lynn & my niece get they are much more than just some dumb rocks.
That is great that you keep your nieces rock and value what they meant to her. There is no greater joy for me than to find a beautiful rock/sea shell. We appreciate you watching and for sharing your comment.
The Oregon coast is one of our favorite places in the country. Thanks for sharing this great video and helping us to enjoy the coast all over again as we look forward to getting back there as soon as possible. Really miss the seafood and the awesome rhythm of the mighty ocean. Enjoy !
The Oregon has become one of our favorite places during this trip. There’s nothing like traveling next to the ocean. Thanks for watching.

Thank you so much for your kind words and you are very welcome.
Harvest Hosts are an excellent idea. We wish they had more of them here in the southeast.
HH is a great way to visit unique places along the way. We always enjoy them and are very thankful for a free place to stay. Thanks so much for watching.
Hmm...may have to take a pan with me and check those sands. Very cool!
I never thought about taking a pan but that’s a great idea. Thanks for the suggestion.
We had a blast at The Blue Heron French Cheese Company - excellent wine tasting and the best smoked Brie ever!! Small world story I tell in my video of our stay here. I want that floppy eared goat 😬 We actually love the Harvest Hosts program and have stayed at 60+ hosts.
That floppy eared goat is precious and cute! It is a small, small world isn’t it? Have you stayed at an Alpaca Farm? That has been our favorite so far. :-)
VAN TREKKING lifestyle no alpaca farm yet. Probably not a good idea, because I would want to bring one home and we live on a boat. Ha ha! I did have a pet goat when I was about 10 years old, so have a soft spot in my heart for these types of animals... and dogs too of course!
Enjoy the coast guys. Cheers!!!
We really enjoyed the Oregon Coast for sure. Thanks for following along.
Lynn, you and my daughter would get along great. She loves hunting pretty rocks. I always find them in my pocket or purse.
That is a sweet idea to hide the rocks for the ones you love to find. I’ll have to try that. I could looks for rocks all day. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the tip on The dairy. We'll definitely put it on our list. Two of our favourites so far are Six Sigma at Lower Lake in California( quiet and beautiful) and Echo Ridge Winery in Echo Oregon(really good wine in an unexpected location) Merry Christmas wherever you'll be!
We appreciate you sharing your favorite HH too. I wish we would have know about the Echo Ridge Winery while we were there. Thanks so much for watching.
Thank you for video. Be sure to watch for low head clearance as ceiling rocks are low in about four places, especially sometimes when sand raised floor level up! (I am 6 feet tall, don"t ask how I know...) David and Karen L.
Thanks for the warning, I can see how someone could hit their head. We appreciate you watching and commenting.
Well your bride “Lynn” was happy to find some precious stone .
Yes, I was very happy to find some precious stone while Owen waited patiently. Thanks for watching.
Another neat video.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Does harvest host have an app how do you find that?
Yes, Harvest Host has a free app you can download. They also have a website harvesthosts.com/.
That was fun! Are you enjoying the Oregon coast? I’ll have to stop at Oceanside next time and check out that tunnel! I stayed at Blue Herron HH location this summer! That was a fun place!
The Oregon coast has become one of our favorite places for so many reasons. We appreciate your comment and for watching.
